"This is War" - 30 Seconds to Mars - Shop Theme
Once one proud nation, now a land divided in war. Just as the Humakin were once one entity each, who's souls have now split to form the creatures known Kulgenki. Side by side, the Kulgenki and Humakin fight, love, and live on in general. In times where a skirmish may break out, it's good to have a loyal companion at your side.

It was about 1500 years ago when it all began, or should we say when it ended. Muranthia was once a great nation in relatively peaceful times. There were some issues here and there with other nations, but being on a small continent all of its own, it was a bit isolated from the rest of the world. And it still is.

The king at the time, King Tev was loved by all. And he did what he could to ensure that Muranthia remained strong. When something started to threaten his land, he tried to think of the best way to tackle the situation, and what he decided on, usually turned out for the best. But all good things must come to an end as some say. One year, there were a number of rumors, speaking of some sort of invasion to come. And not long after these began, King Tev fell victim to assassination.

The moment he fell from the throne, chaos began to ensue. No one quite knew who did the killing, but it mattered not much as enemies flooded the country to take it over. His two children, Kurtyr and Akarmen, tried to cooperate in some sort of way so that they could drive away these invaders. They never could really come to any conclusion. So they split, to try and fix the country in their own ways.

Kurtyr gathered up people and their Kulgenki to try and take down their enemies from the inside. They infiltrated the ranks and sabotaged what they could. Akarmen, on the other hand, went to battle the invaders upfront, also attempting to negotiate with them from time to time. With the efforts of the siblings, whether they worked together or not, the invaders were eventually pushed out of the nation.

But things weren’t quite settled yet. Muranthia was still in despair, having lost their great king. Many towns and villages were razed, and countless souls were forever gone. Anarchy was on the rise, and someone was going to need to take control of things soon before the land went completely to hell. The siblings both strove to run the land on their own, and squabbled over who should take the throne. Both felt that their efforts to get rid of the invaders were stronger than the other, thus both felt that they had more of a right to lead the land.

As a result, they split the land, and war broke out once again. Only this time, it was amongst themselves.

In all the time that has passed, many things have changed. Yet at the same time, some things never did. Kurtyr and Akarmen still battle against one another. Cities rose up in their names, and continued to wage the war. Times of peace happen now and then, but this not so civil war still rages on to the point where… people aren’t quite so sure why they’re fighting any more. Some say that Kurtyrins and Akarmenians have different ideals of how Muranthia should be run. Others just can’t get past the hatred of the other side that they’ve grown to learn.

And others, still, are sick of it all. An elf by the name of Nakadrak, was the first to rebel against both sides several hundred years after the war began. People question her motives, as she began to attempt to sabotage the ranks on both sides, thinking she might have something aside from peace in mind. Some say it was out of spite, as she had been done wrong by both Kurtyrins and Akarmenians. But no matter the true motives of her actions, she soon was able to have people to follow her, bringing about a third side to the war.

The three original leaders are now long dead. But war rages on.

Kurtyr (Kur-Tear)

The moon city, located in the south east region of Muranthia. Being the largest city in the east, as well as the place where Mistress Nameh Durkes resides, this is also the name of this particular side. Its people are known as Kurtyrins. Nameh’s esteemed advisor is Demisa Holden.

Kutyrins (Koo-tear-ins) They are quite a proud group of beings who have a tendency to value individualism a good amount. Their culture focuses a little more on the scholarly things rather than the more artistic things in life, though they do enjoy the artists that they have. The technology of the Kutyrins normally strives for more practicality over beauty in reflection of this. The popular style of music in the Kutyr side of Muranthia often has darker undertones, but seem to have a sort of tranquility or serenity about it.

Akarmen (Ah-car-men)

The sun city. This is located in the north west region of Muranthia, and is also the capital of the western parts of the continent. Minister Jaoren Quan leads the Akarmenians, with his high advisor Anteng Curvast.

Akarmenians (Ah-car-men-ians) In contrast to the Kutyrins, they put familial values a little higher than that of the individual. They enjoy the arts and tend to focus on that more so than the sciences. Even so, they still work on better technologies, but they do like to have their gagets to look nice. The popular music in the west involves more upbeat and energetic tunes. It can also be said that the Akarmenians are a little more in tune with nature, but this isn’t really something drastically different from the Kutyrins.

Nakadrak (Nah-kah-drack)

City of stars. The Nakadrak people, unlike with the other two main groups, do not have an established territory aside from this one city towards the center of Muranthia. The city is well guarded, seeing how as the Nakadrak are looked poorly upon by both the Akarmenians and the Kutyrins. Also, the exact location of this city is unclear to those who are not a part of Nakadrak. It is just known that it is located somewhere in or around the Arock mountains.Their leader is Savon Pierce, who takes his advice from any of his people.

Nakadrak has a few spies in the other nations, but breaching into this nation specifically is much harder than one might expect. The amount of Nakadrak people is fewer than either of the other two nations, and this is mostly because they are very wary and careful of who they let into the city walls. However, while they are better in terms of espionage and the like, they are weaker in terms of military power, seeing how the city has less resources and people over all.

Note: If you want your character to be a spy from Nakadrak you must go over with me first. This is a limited area. Even more so than how many are in Nakadrak

Nakadrak peopleThe other main groups see the Nakadrak as unsophisticated rebels and outcasts in a sense. Most of the Nakadrak were once Kutyrins or Akarmenians, but have broken away from their homelands. Consequently, they are the group that have the fewest numbers. And due to the fact that they only have one city, they tend to live amongst others carefully. Along with that, they don’t have any particular focus as a group, seeing how they’re a mix of the others.

Kulgenki are magical creatures that are linked directly to a person’s soul. They come in many variations, and all shapes and sizes. Though magical, they do have a physical presence within the world most of the time. Because of this, they can eat, drink and whatnot. If they so choose, however, they could just return to the artifact and rejuvenate that way instead. What the Kulgenki might eat varies on what its species is exactly as they would typically eat whatever creature type they are would eat.

Because of the connection they have with someone, only one Kulgenki can bond to a Humakin. Generally, everyone has a Kulgenki, but the time it takes for them to come in contact with their Kulgenki varies. Naturally, a Humakin is drawn towards the artifact that contains their Kulgenki, but it may still take some time for them to find the item. However, a Humakin is usually at least 5 years in age (or whatever that equivalent is for the particular race).

The biggest Kulgenki about the size of an african elephant and the smallest they can be as an adult is about the size of a cat or small dog. So many Kulgenki may be sized differently from their true animal counterparts.

Kulgenki Stages

User Image

Artifact: Before it’s discovered by its Humakin, the Kulgenki is completely dormant. The artifact can be a number of different things that would be relatively easy for a Humakin to wear or carry, such as weapons, a piece of armor, accessory. In some cases the artifact has been something like a book or a small trinket of sorts. The artifact and its Humakin are naturally drawn together, which is how most people are able to find their artifact at some point in their lives.

User Image

Developing Kulgenki: Upon first contact with the artifact (or in some cases, just being within a close vicinity with the artifact), the Kulgenki will awaken; first appear to be a small and somewhat young version of its full self. Some may also be a bit childish initially, reflecting their youthful appearances.

User Image

Adult: The Kulgenki has now fully developed and is quite capable in battle. If the Kulgenki had any elemental properties to its appearance, it’s more noticeable now. The way a Kulgenki becomes its adult self varies almost as much as the Kulgenki themselves. Some have a more gradual change while for others, it happens rather suddenly.

???: Some powerful Kulgenki may be subject to further change and development. However, the ones that accomplish this are fairly rare, and the means of achieving such power isn't so straightforward.

Types of Kulgenki

Common
Aquatic: The marine animals. Fish, crustaeceans, ect. As a note, aquatic type creatures are not bound to the water as their real counterparts are. They are also not all of the water element. Things that would normally not be able to walk instead float around the air.
Avian: These tend to resemble birds in some fashion. And most are capable of flight.
Insectoid: Kulgenki that resemble insects and arachnids. These are often larger than real insects.
Mammalian: One of the more broad categories. These range from dogs, to cats, to horses, and other land mammals you may see around.
Reptilian: These take on after the cold blooded and scaly animals. Snakes, turtles, lizards and so on. Amphibians are included here as well.

Rare
Humanoid: These are Kulgenki that have humanlike qualities. These would include angels, demons, faeries, elementals, golems, ect. As a note, angels don’t quite seem as human as they do in most depictions of them.
Mythic: Kulgenki that are fashioned after creatures from mythology. Dragons, kirins, phoenixes and more. Dinosaurs and other extinct creatures, while not exactly mythology would fall here as well.
Chimaera: These are basically any combination of 2-3 different creatures (that aren’t found in mythology). An example might be a dog with bat wings and a scorpion tail.

For a list to see what would be considered Humakin and what would be considered a humanoid Kulgenki, see here

These are what you call the general population of the world. What the Kulgenki bond to. Humakin is just a general term, as they come in all sorts of races, but they all take on humanoid traits of sorts. Humans, elves (high, wood, drow, ect), dwarves, halflings, orcs, goblins, vampires, lycanthropes, anthromorphic, and more. Over all, there isn’t much racial tension between the various races, but there can be some biases here and there. Still, which side the Humakin is on is something that another Humakin is more likely to be discriminatory about than what race they are.

Your humakin character(s) can be almost any race, though races not listed below must be confirmed with staff first. Also, your character must be an original character.

But please do not make a character that has been around since the war started. Yes there are a few immortals on the list of races in terms of aging, but this is just to make things a little more simple.

Races

[
Humans: Basically what you would think a human would be. No more, no less. Humans live as long as they do on Earth - average lifespan is around 70.
Elves: Elegant folk with pointed ears. Elves are immortal when it comes to age and stop aging when they appear to be young adults-middle aged.
High elves: They tend to be lighter in skin tone and hair color than the other elven subtypes. They're also generally the tallest of the three, and are known to be well attuned to magic once they've found their Kulgenki.
Wood elves: Elves that generally love the forest and nature and prefer to live amongst it. They're a little shorter in stature compared to their elven cousins.
Dark elves/drow: Drow have darker skin tones than the other elven types. And tend to have an air of mystery about them. Ages ago, a drow would almost never be seen on the surface. Time has past since then and they feel quite at home on the surface just as any others. They have no sensitivity to light any longer because of this as well.
Dwarves: Stocky and short, yet quite strong. Males will pretty much always have a beard. Dwarves are best known for their craftsmanship. Like the drow, long ago they were said to live almost strictly underground. Nowadays, this very much isn't the case. A small few have even embraced the sea.. something that would never had happened in the past. Average lifespan of Dwarves is around 350.
Orcs: Strong and normally dark/greenish skinned folk who tend to have some violent tendencies. They often are seen to be less intelligent or more barbaric than other races. Orcs live about as long as humans do.
Goblins: Another small race. They can be rather resourceful, but many others look down at them, seeing them as easily manipulated and dim witted in general. Goblin lifespan usually reaches to around 60 years in age.
Vampires: Undead creatures of the night who live off of blood. They cannot live in sunlight (nor do they sparkle…). They are also highly sensitive to things considered 'holy'. Other races tend to be a little wary of them. Unable to produce offspring, but may turn other Humakins into a vampire if they so wish. Any other Humakin type with exception of lycanthrope may become a vampire. Vampires, like elves, are immortal. They stop aging at whatever age they became a Vampire.
Lycanthrope: A Humakin that is able to shift into some sort of animal. Most common is a wolf. Able to shift at will, however may go into a rage on nights of the full moon. Because of this, other Humakins will tend to be wary of them on such nights. All lycans are deathly allergic to silver. With exceptions to anthromorphic and vampires, all other races may become lycans. Lycanthropes have an extended lifespan from whatever their other race is. They generally live about twice as long.
Anthromorphic: Basically an animal with humanlike features. Variance of how humanlike they are differs. Taurs are a subcategory of these. The average lifespan of anthros vary greatly, depending on the subspecies. They either have the life span like a human's, or about twice as long.
Halfling: Small folk who tend to be nimble. These guys live to around 300 years in age.
Halfbreeds: Any mix of any previous mentioned race. Half elves and half orcs are the most common amongst these. You may not be half vampire or half lycanthrope. For those races, you either are or you aren't. The average lifespan of these folk depend on their lineage. It's generally somewhere between the two races they belong to. So a half elf-half human will live longer than a full blooded human, but they still age and will eventually die of old age.

Other races may be added. If you have a race idea, let me know.

General Rules
1. Don't be rude to anyone
2. Try to keep chatspeak to a minimum

5. All trades must be sent to the mule unless otherwise stated. Trades should be sent within 48 hours of winning a pet.
6. Don't guilt trip.
7. Also please label all trades; it helps keep things organized. Unlabeled trades may be subject to cancellation.
8. You may have as many as you'd like, however keep in mind that there is only one soul guardian per character.
9. Keep to the gaia TOS
10. Rp is not required to keep your pet, but you will have to battle/rp if you want it to grow.
11. Don't beg.
12. Don't resell your pet.
13. For now, co-owning is not allowed.
14. Please don't blatantly advertise other shops without permission.
15. Don't "Claim" Kulgenki before they are sold.

Roleplay Rules
1. Don't godmod/powerplay
2. OOC speech should be kept within brackets (()) when roleplaying.
3. Do not rp creatures from other shops please.
4. If you do not have a Kulgenki, you may still rp with your humakin character(s) as long as the character does not have a Kulgenki.
5. Please try not to ignore anyone in rp
6. Don't have your character know more than what they should know. In otherwords, don't use OOC knowledge.
7. You may create NPC's but they cannot have stats (meaning they won't give exp). You may also fight these NPC's without using the battle system Statted NPC's are only playable by Battle Mods.

Battle Rules
1. NEVER delete your post. If you do this, there is no way for us to tell if you simply made a mistake or if you're attempting to cheat. If you do make a mistake with a roll, just edit your post saying that you did and roll agian.
2. Don't try to give your characters more stats than what they actually have
3. The first time you are caught cheating, your characters will be deleveled. The second time it happens, they will be deleveled and you will be greylisted. Third time it happens, you're blacklisted and your characters are assumed dead.
4. When battling, please put some rp effort into it as well.
5. If a skill needs to be rebalanced, or the stats are getting tweaked, this affects everyone. It would be pointless to try and balance/fix the system if it wouldn't affect everyone.
6. Kulgenki do not recieve stats until they reach the developing stage.

*Rules are subject to change
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get one?
Read the front page of the shop thread; more details can be found in the Availability post

Can I have one for free?
No. Unless you have done something to earn it.

Waaaah, why is there so much info for the battle system?
It's hard to condense it. I know there's a lot to take in but I swear once you start using it you'll get the hang of how things go. It's pretty simple once you're working with it. There's a few battle examples you could look at, and don't be afraid for clarification on something.

Do I have to set up stats for my characters?
No. The battle system is there in case people want to use it. It's also a fun additional way to gain exp for your characters.

Can I have more than one?
Yep! However, only one kulgenki per humakin character. So keep that in mind

Our characters can die!? D=
Yes.. this is a warlike setting after all. But, deaths will generally only happen with the consent of the player. There are several options you can take if your character does die though.

How do I get Humakin art for my character?
Artwork for humakin will normally be sold via some slots, seeing how most will be custom more or less. However, there are a few premades you can order with your kulgenki.

How do I get exp?
By battling, roleplaying, doing journal entries, taking missions, and the occasional exp boost giveaway.

When will my Kulgenki grow exactly?
It takes a week or two for the artifact to go into the developing stage. And Kulgenki reach their 'adult' stage at level 10.

Can we breed them?
There are no plans to implement breeding here

Can my Kulgenki be based on Amaterasu from Okami?
Sure! Granted there isn't already one of the cosplay. As long as your Kulgenki is the same species type as the cosplay itself it's fine.

Can my Humakin be just like Naruto from.. Naruto?
No. Humakin characters must be original characters.

Can I rp my Humakin if it doesn't have artwork?
Yes. Kulgenki can -not- exist without Humakin; since they're fragments of their souls. Humakin artwork is not needed at all; you can get it any time. But to rp a Kulgenki, it must have a Humakin.

Are there other rp bonuses?
Certain missions may get you some gaia gold. Also there are plans for some fourth stages that are accessible only through quality rp. Not to mention that you have the power to help shape the story of the shop itself. Other perks may come with time.
