~ Welcome to the StarDust Facility and Desert Harvesting Area, the savannah community where 80% of all stardust has fallen from space. Dustling Dragons are collected, raised, and bred here, as well as the occasional Comet Serpent and StarFox. Many owners have taken residence here, and it has become one very big town. We'd love it if you stopped in, and listened to the StarDust story.

When a wish is made upon a star, it stays with the star until the star falls. When the falling star shoots across the sky, it trickles dust down into our atmosphere. Our Facility set itself around the area where the magical, shimmering piles of dust seem to be attracted to, so we could study it further.

However, after each lovely little pile of StarDust was collected and watched over by a lab assistant, something completely unexpected happened. After about a week of love and attention, a little feathery head would pop out of the dust, yawn, and cry for food. This sent the assistants into a panic, until they realized they could do no harm to their "mommies".

The lab assistants also realized the little feathery dragons would grow, and grow, and grow, until they were the size of Great Danes. The piles of powder gathered all over the "gardens" of the Facility, and we soon had to turn commercial and sell the piles off to worthy owners of the new "pets". However, each owner would be strongly urged to try and decipher what the wish was that gave their Dustling life.

Comet Serpents were then accidentally discovered by dropping stardust into liquid. Star Foxes, on the other hand, shot down from space all on their own as little tiny crystalized balls of ice and rock. Nebula cats were little puffs of space material clinging to the ground.

But it wasn't to be this way at the facility forever. Groups began opposing the research done at the facility, wrecking equipment within the lab, and demanding that all the Stardust creatures be set free into the wild, where they belonged. It led to an investigation of the facility. Outside researchers found the reports and chemicals used to create the hybrids and to breed the same sex dustlings, legal and moral issues hit the news, and the investigators shut down the facility.

Owners were forced to leave, and it wasn't long before the town started to be reclaimed by the wild. Remnants of the facility remain, and there may be some special materials and rare items yet inside, but for the most part the Stardust creatures run wild, and have adapted.

Breeding slots ~ Love is in the air!

The aphrodisiac that is Valentines has caught everything near the abandoned facility. Dusts seem to be falling into bed with one another pretty randomly... Uh oh.

To try for one of the free breeding slots, offer up a minimum of one and a maximum of five of your StarDust pets to the pool. Depending on the number of entrants, there will be from 1-4 breeding pairs chosen. These will be OC breedings (2-3 babies) and will not count toward the number of breedings for any particular dustling. I will pick pairs completely and utterly randomly. Each person will be able to win one randomized slot... have fun and remember to post images of your pets when tossing them into the pool.

**NOTE** For simplicity sake, only Dragons and Serpents are eligible. That way we don't get serpents trying to match with cats or foxes with dragons and such. xD

Giveaways will be random through Midnight EST on Friday. If you get a freebie in time, feel free to throw it into the pot for breeding insanity. <3

The time to take advantage of the breeding is short! Be sure to throw your dusts into the pool by 8AM on Friday before the magic of Valentines wears off!

Tentative Scheduling:

Breeding slot(s) will open: The first few days of the month.

Custom slot(s) will open: Around the middle of the month.

Dusts will be grown: Approximately every two weekst. Growings tend to be done in batches, so if your dust is a little late or a little early, its because it was much more convenient for us to do it that way.

Elder growth requests will be open: Every four months or so, about two of each gender at a time.

Flatsales are generally: Mid February, Mid April, Early June, Early July, Early August, Mid October (GW birthday event FS, don't miss these), Late December. Additional flats can happen, these are the ones that are planned.

Overview
Dustling Dragons were the core of the Stardust facility's research. They were the first strange animals to be discovered here, in piles of multicolored sand scattered about the desert. Not all of the Stardust landed in this area, however, and dustlings from far off lands have been discovered. For the most part these creatures are mild tempered and could be tamed as pets. They grow about as large as a Great Dane, and are omnivorous. They take up the predatory niche in the surrounding area, as there are no other large natural predators near the Stardust desert.

Breeding Report
Breeding is a very graceful thing with the Dustling Dragons. The male begins by forming a pile of different sands from all over, the farther the better. This seems to affect the production rate of successful offspring. More foreign sand, more healthy babies. After the floor of their mating area is covered in at least one inch of sand, the two Dustlings intimately groom each other as part of the mating ritual, picking select pieces of featherfur off of each other and patting them into the sand. This process may take up to a couple hours. While the dragons do mate more traditionally as well, the entire ritual must be followed in some form in order for life to reach the new dust piles.

New Map Coming

This is the complete area in which RP takes place. Anything outside this map can only be considered RP if it happens in another pet's journal. [IE: You have another pet, and you want your stardust pet to belong to it or RP with it in its other journal. It doesn't have to exist here-- but you still have to show up twice a month.]

Town of StarDust: Houses line the streets in this humble town named after the one thing that attracted everyone there. Stores have sprouted due to the spread of housing and need for food, water, clothes, and other necessities. Among the free housing are grocery stores and various shops, as well as the StarDust Lab-- the largest building, right beneath the Lake.

Serpent's Lake: The one most precious quality of the oasis-- the lake, and the stream leading into it from the mountains. This gift from above nurtures all animal and plant life within the desert.

Dustling Desert: Among the golden sands of this desert, located northwest of Durem, many piles of stardust fall and co-mingle with the sand. Dustlings often become lost in the blinding heat, and eventually find their way back to the Facility.

Fox Fields: This tiny pasture is a wonderful, grassy place to relax and watch the stars without fear of getting sand in your eyes.

Windswept Forest: The tiny patches of forest at the base of each mountain range hold various creatures, some of which are natural, and some... that are not.

Dark Caverns: Deep within the mountains lay many hidden, undisturbed caves and caverns, some that lead deep into the ground into abysmal nothingness.

StarDust Mountain Range: This huge range breaks up into four pieces, all surrounding the oasis like protective mothers. They vary in length-- some are higher than the clouds while some are short enough to climb in a day.

---RP-oriented Questions:

+ What do StarDust pets eat?
-Stardust dragons are, at this point, very omnivorous. Foxes and serpents need a higher protein diet, and will hunt.
+ Can Dustling Dragons/Foxes/Serpents talk?
-Yes, to one another. Sometimes interspecies communication can get misinterpreted, though.
+ What happens when the dust in the dustpan is scattered?
-The dust will reform itself under normal circumstances, much like the baddie from the Terminator (2?) movie.
+ What happens if you eat the dust?
-The dust will reform still, so it'll tickle a bit but the dust will come right back out of your mouth. Don't worry, it doesn't carry any spit or stomach fluids with it-- ew.

+ There is NO MORE post requirement.
However, breedings will be limited to two babies between parents who have never RP'd together, and there will be fewer slots for these couples. In addition, parents with two or more complete (15 posts or more) role-plays can have additional dusts (3-4). Dusts that are banded via clan AND have three or more complete roleplays will have a minimum of four dusts with five possible.
+ Do not be rude. Shop staff is to be treated humanely.

The only animals in Stardust allowed to be played with minor magical powers at this time are twins with a specific domain. Twins cannot be commissioned by normal means. They are attained through auction or special events.
+ People like paragraphs.
Not really a rule but, remember that a finished RP tends to read like a book. One liners are difficult to respond to, and while you won't get in trouble for posting IC one liners, you might not get many RP partners either. Single lines will also not count toward a post requirement for special breeding purposes or clan formation.

Type 1

Rules:
- Current price: Flat 10k per creature.
- Do not edit posts.
- You may only buy one per flatsale.
- You may buy one for a friend, but that counts as your one try.
- If you're trying for a friend, that friend may NOT try.
- Do not take more than one day to send the trade.
- Do not name your Dust the same thing as another Dust.
- Do not be a sore loser.

Randomized sale

Rules:
- Current price: Flat 10k per creature.
This one is my concoction because speedsales suck for anyone without a fast computer. It works as follows:
- Choose two dusts you'd like. Rank them 1 and 2.
- When the GO is posted, you should post the two dusts, and generate a random number from 1-100.
- The complicated part. If you are the highest number for your first pick, you get that pet and you cannot win another one. First picks always get priority over second pick. If your second pick is not won as anyone else's first pick and you are the highest number for that second pick, you win that dust instead.
- Edit posts and I eviscerate you. This is complicated enough as is.

RP prompt sale

Rules:
- Current price: Flat 10k per creature. Rarer dusts can be more expensive.
As it sounds. A prompt will be posted, and you are to continue the story. Prompts will have a twenty minute time limit, and once posted, an entry cannot be edited. Minor typos will be ignored in judging.

The traditional type of auction. Previews of a special dust are posted, as well as a starting bid, autobuy, etc. Nothing new here.

Auctions

Rules:
- Do not bid what you don't have.
- Do not discourage bidders. This includes planning your bid in thread.
- Do not edit bids.
- If more than one Dustling is being auctioned, you may only bid on one.
- Bids may not be withdrawn, so be sure before you post.
- Anyone paying with botted/scammed/whatever gold will be graylisted. If its found that you did the botting/scamming, it'll be a blacklist. No hard feelings.
- You may not co-bid/own unless you're just helping someone's bid, or unless the auctioned pets are a twin pair.
- Trade is due ASAP. If it isn't confirmed within 24 hours, you could lose your Dust.

Some Pricing Has Changed

• ~ Reports on how Dustlings, Serpents, and Foxes breed can be found in the Guild in the Species Stories and Lineage thread. If your pet is in love, or if you wish for grandchildren, then they may breed if a slot is open. Without the aid of a special item, only adult males and females may breed. Also, no inter-species breeding may occur (besides serpent x dustling) nor related breedings. Please look at the breeding items if you're interested in breeding male x male or female x female, or dustling x serpent.

Breeding Info

• Breeding costs 15k for normal parents, 20k if one parent is winged/corrupted, and 25k if one or more parents is a demon, angel, or halfbreed.
  
  
• Breedings will be limited to two babies between parents who have never RP'd together, and there will be fewer slots for these couples.
  
• Parents with two or more complete (15 posts or more) role-plays can have additional dusts (3-4). Dusts that are banded via clan AND have three or more complete roleplays will have a minimum of four dusts with five possible.
  
• RP only breeding slots require your dustling to have the two complete role-plays with its mate, and some interest should be expressed between the animals.
  
• Dusts are limited to three breedings, and there is a four-month wait period between breedings.
  
• Clan leaders will have additional breedings with their clan subordinates (Be they male or female) but all dusts get old, so there will be a cap on how many times your pet may (successfully) breed.
  
• If each parent belongs to a different owner, they must each pay half the fee--unless one person feels generous. ;p
  
• You may keep or sell your offspring. Owners will no longer be forced to give them away if they don't want to.
  
• RPing love between the couple may increase chances for rare offspring.

Okay, so, store credit works like this. If you really like the shop, you can have a little account here by giving me gold or items ahead of time and then using it on a breeding slot, a bribed custom, a flatsale pet, or anything like that. You can also put your credit towards an auction bid that you won. Not to mention, you can also buy breeding/growth potions with store credit.

The good side to having an account is that you can gain gold to it by RP'ing or just making me happy. xp (Birthdays and page 500/600/etc. winners may get gold added too since I suck at ideas.)

Oh, and, the exchange rate is 1g for 1g of store credit. You cannot close your account and get the gold back, so be careful. You can give store credit to others if you want, too.
