FLATSALE ENTRY:
I'm going for the [CROSS SWORD]!!
Username: Loki Saimar
TECHNICIAN Name: Elan Gilbert
Gender: Male
Personality: Elan is an outgoing man who enjoys the fun side of life more than the serious and it shows in his daily actions and choices. (ie He will pick to go and play or do something fun over doing that last bit of work before a deadline if he can.) With this procrastinating attitude, he comes across as being largely lackadaisacal and not really caring about anything but having a good time. This isn't true, though, as Elan cares about things like family and friends more than himself and is more than happy to go above and beyond for those around him any time. He is a friendly and happy person that is just a step away from that "happy go lucky" title by finding that proverbial cup half full and not half empty, but still seeing the bad side of things just as equally. Though he comes across as fun loving and a great guy, Elan is also slightly quick to rise to a temper, and has been known to blow up at people over little things, a habit he doesn't like about himself, but something he can't really quite seem to change.
WEAPON Name: Darva McGhee
Personality: Unlike her Technician, Darva is quiet and calm being very difficult to anger and almost always putting work and things that "must be done" above those that can be done later, or are done in the pursuit of having a good time. Darva has a temper that is slow to simmer, but once its reached the boiling point it becomes very difficult to control. She gets frustrated with herself and her Technician fairly easily for "faults" she finds or things that could have been done better as she is a bit of a perfectionist. At the end of the day, though, Darva is someone who is trustworthy and realiable, and is generally seen as a happy or pleasant person to be around.
Prompt Choice: You and your newly paired TECH find yourselves in a haunted house, and there's a sound coming from the floorboards above you. What was the sound? How did you end up there, and what happens next?
Prompt Response:
It was the first time Darva had met her TECH and right away she had come to the conclusion that he was despicably laid back. Upon their introduction, the first thing Elan had suggested for the duo was that they "get to know one another" and to him, that meant going out and having some fun. To suit his burning desire to do something fun, Darva had reluctantly agreed to attend a celebration for Halloween, the lauded Haunted House of the town that Elan swore was really and truly haunted. The possibility of seeing a true haunting intrigued her, and she quickly found herself taken to a run down looking house that was decidedly creepy looking. With a shudder, the WEAPON realized that even if the place wasn't actually haunted, it certainly looked haunted enough that it didn't matter.
As the newly crowned partners entered the building, they could hear the sounds of creaking floorboards, shrieking stairs, and the moans and groans of the hired ghosts and ghouls brought in to make the place sound and feel like it was real. Elan quickly paid the entrance fee, not wanting Darva to back out before the fun could be had, and grabbed her by the wrist before pulling her through the curtained doorway and into the first staged area of the haunted house. At first, the costumed people were easily recognized as just that - people wearing costumes. But the farther up the levels of the house the two progressed, the harder it was to tell what was real and what wasn't and sheets were placed between the haunted house goers and workers, with random hands and feet appearing to grab at and trip up Elan and Darva.
The strobe lights that flashed merely added to the confusion and the female WEAPON found herself growing frustrated with her senses losing their ability to do their job properly and at Elan's occasional grin that he would flash back towards her. No words passed between the two as they traversed the house, due to the soundtrack of ghostly noises, people moaning and groaning, and the occasional screams making it nearly impossible to do so. Finally, at the fourth level was a sign painted with "EXIT" in big, bold and red lettering and a stairway leading upwards. The noise from the soundtrack had ceased to blast their ear drums, and Elan finally paused long enough to grin back at his partner, "So what did you think of the Haunted House, Darva?"
With an exasperrated eye roll, the woman shrugged, "In all honesty?"
A firm nod brought Elan's chin down almost to his collar bone before it rose back up to its proper positioning as he confirmed in an almost teasing tone, "Yes, in all honesty."
A small, barely audible sigh escaped the WEAPON's mouth as she responded, "It was boring, Elan. Very boring. Very fake. Just very not enjoyable."
The man's shoulders drooped downward in a dejected hunch as he sighed, his idea had not worked at all, and his disappointment showed. Before he could speak though, a loud rattle and scraping noise similar to that of chains being dragged across a floor was heard above them. Both Elan and Darva glanced upward before their eyes returned to the exit sign and group of people exiting the Haunted House, discussing how great it had been before they turned their attention back to one another.
"What was that noise, Elan?" asked a slightly confused Darva.
"I'm not sure, really. Could have been the soundtrack, or someone up top adding to the...aura of the place." A small grin appeared on the man's face as he leaned in closer to Darva, "Do you want to go and check it out? Maybe the place really IS haunted!"
A vehement shake of her head and scowl was all that answered Elan as the noise once more rang out, this time almost directly above their heads and followed by a slow, painful moan. Once the noise had ended, Darva's scowl turned to a more confused and worried countenance, "Do you think there really is someone up there? That didn't sound like they were feeling too good..."
Slowly Elan inched towards the stairyway that lead upwards and an outstretched hand lifted the sign that said "Haunted House Staff Only" before gesturing with his free hand under the rope, "After you m'lady!" An even larger grin stretched across his face and he chuckled just a little as he gestured once more to his WEAPON Darva. Obviously reluctant, the woman glanced around the room to ensure no one noticed what they were about to do before quickly dashing under the rope and starting up the stairs barely chancing a glance behind her to ensure that her TECHNICIAN was, in fact, directly behind her. Just in case, of course.
As her breathing came slightly faster and mildly more shallow with each step, her pupils grew and adjusted to the newfound darkness, and she felt her heartbeat increase, the adrenaline pumping through her veins at the thought of doing something she shouldn't be, and the thought that maybe the house really was haunted, pushing her to move faster and forcing Elan to take larger steps to keep up. Once the stairs had been climbed and a large door discovered, Darva waited for her TECHNICIAN to open it before entering first. Immediately upon entry, the musky smell of an attic not touched in years hit her nostrils and made her sneeze. An action that only caused more dust to stir up and descended her into a fit of sneezing and coughing as Elan hunted for a light to use.
Once Darva had her sneezing and coughing under control, she realized that Elan had finally got the light switch turned on, and with squinted eyes began looking around for the culprit of the chain noise. As the chain rattling sounded out again, even louder this time, Elan completed his search of the attic before shouting across the way, "There is no one up here but us, Darva. And that noise, of course." This time, the noise did not stop, but continued around the room, as if a third unseen being was in the room. Unable to control herself, the woman did what a frightened person does best and made a quick and speedy exit with her TECHNICIAN close behind, chuckling in an amused and absurd manner as they left the Haunted House and down the road. Concluding she was a safe distance from the place and its forsaken attic, she rounded on her partner with frustration flaring her nostrils and huffing from being frightened so much, "WE ARE NEVER GOING TO A HAUNTED HOUSE AGAIN, GOT THAT ELAN?!"
With a chuckle, the man grinned as he held up a cassette player and played the noise for the woman, "Sure thing, Darva, sure thing."
Now angry, the WEAPON finally lost all self-control and transformed into the Cross Sword, a problem that set her TECHNICIAN off into laughter, embarrassed her further, and only prolonged the time she remained in that state. The entire way Elan carried her home, Darva was mentally cursing the fact she had so little control over her transformation and swore to get better at it until she could get back at Elan for the dirty little trick he had played.
