Tabitha was a very practical sort of witch. This was, in part, due to the fact that impractical witches were quite often confronted with crowds that were displeased with them. No, Tabitha wasn't one to attract attention to herself or her craft, and generally went about life spending more time with herself and her herbs than she ever did with other people.

Perhaps that was where her Idea came from.

Though crowds made her nervous, another hand around the house would be a huge blessing. She knew that there were creatures of the woods, nymphs and sprites, that would works splendidly with her small garden, but they were flirty, and often flighty, and that didn't much appeal to Tabitha. So she spoke with the trees before saying a few words over her garden.

While I'm at it, she thought to herself, I could always use some help with the pond, and with the silly squirrels in the attic. After a moments contemplation, she repeated the process over her little garden pond and over the silly cat that she kept in the barn. Giving the orange tabby a last scratch on the head, Tabitha retreated to her own room for the evening, praying that her experiment would be a success.

The next morning, she woke to the smell of cooking. It had wafted gently through the house, and she smiled at first, enjoying the scents until she recalled that there shouldn't be anyone in the house except her. Dashing out of the bedroom in her nightgown, she ran to the kitchen to find that there were nymphs there. Cooking. Not cleaning, but there was only so much you could expect of a nymph, even one of rosemary or sage.

After a moment of shock, Tabitha ran from the kitchen out to the pond to check on the fish. And a fish, of a sort, waited for her there. Mermen and mermaids, guppies and goldfish, were hard at work cleaning the pond and taking care of it's inhabitants. One last place...

In the barn, it took a bit longer to check on the results of her spell. Though she looked through all of the stables, sifted through the hay and checked every corner, she couldn't find the cat anywhere. She'd looked high and low...well, maybe not high. But surely not!

"Mew?" Surprised when she thought the day would hold few more for her, Tabitha looked up into the rafters. At first, the little patch of blue that she saw there didn't look familiar, but the stripes going down the second half of the rather peculiar gryphon seemed familiar, in a black and blue sort of way.

Unable to do anything else, Tabitha collapsed onto the piles of straw she'd just rummaged through to laugh at herself and her spell. Rosemary and sage nymphs, goldfish mermaids, and a barn cat gryphon? What could be better than that?

After a moment, she collected herself. Though she would enjoy her new helpers, teaching them and learning from them, there were far too many for her to keep herself. The goldfish and the gryphons would need to eat, and she'd never have enough room to house the nymphs--especially if they reproduced like the regular ones.

But perhaps there were others, like herself, that could use a companion or a helping hand. She was still a practical minded witch, and when she'd asked what could be better than her very own creations...well, making a profit off of her very own creations would be better. Perhaps not a shop at the mall, or a store across from the ice cream parlor, but a special sort of shop. One that catered only to those who were looking for it. Yes, that certainly had potential.

Picking herself up the floor, Tabitha brushed the hay off of the back of her nightgown and once more giving her little tabby--now a blue, black and white gryphon--a pat on the head. There was much to be done.

So what exactly is it that we're selling here? Well, a variety of mythical creatures with a down-to-earth twist. Housecat gryphons, nymphs of rosemary and sage, and guppy or gold fish mer-creatures. Look just a bit lower for stages and shadows, or follow this link back to the owners list to see the pets so far!



Griffins: These little creatures are far more tame than their wilder cousins. Most of the gryphons here are breeds of small bird (finch, jay, etc) and domestic cat, and rarely get any larger than an average sized house cat, and are frequently smaller.

Mermaids: Like the gryphons, these mermaids are generally fish that are found in freshwater tanks. The beautiful mermaids are most often goldfish, and the mermen are guppies. However, they are infinitely more friendly and practical than their sea faring cousins. They are usually small enough to fit two to a twenty gallon tank (ie, around six inches)

Nymphs: Most nymphs are shy creatures, but the herb nyphs that are found here prefer helping people cook than frolicking in the woods outside of the realm of man. Many of them haven't been very far from their pots, much less far into the woods! While they're more temperamental than the mermaids, they'll still take people over the beasts of the wild any day.

Mice: One of the reasons that Tabitha enchanted her house cat was to help with the mouse problem she had in her home. But rather than helping, turns out the griffin preferred to play with its food. Ever one to make the best of the situation, these cute, furry critters can now be bought as pets for your new gryphon. Unsuitable for guppies and goldfish for obvious reasons, and has a tendency to nibble on nymphs.


Snails: Though slow, snails are patient and friendly, for the most part, and make excellent companions for either a mermaid or a nymph. Too slow to keep up with a gryphon, unfortunately.


Seahorses: Unlike the other familiars, seahorses can only be companion animals to the mer-creatures, likewise tank-bound. These are, uh, special freshwater seahorses. Purebreds, of course.


Ladybugs: With both the ability to fly and to keep down the number of aphids in a pot, ladybugs are fun and versatile companions for both gryphons and nymphs. It is, however, not a very good swimmer, so is not the best pet for your guppy or goldfish.

Gryphons lay between one and three eggs.

So, I'm sure we all have our own theories about how these babies are made. Me? I'm pretty sheltered and prefer to think that the stork dropped them off. Probably shouldn't RP out any form of conception, unless we're discussing pollenation for the nymphs, yes? Q: How do I get a pet?
A: Check 'news and updates' and/or 'acquiring a pet' for announcements on upcoming events :3

Q: Wow, I think it's too expensive! Can't I get it for less?
A: Nope. I think the prices are reasonable.

Q: Well, what else can I do?
A: There will be some free events--RP contests, raffles, etc. You're more than welcome to wait and participate in one of those.

Q: Alright! Not what I've got a pet, am I required to RP/stop in the shop?
A: Nope, but stopping by and RPing can get rewards o=

Q: What kind of rewards do you get for RPing?
A: Depends on how much RP. It can get you bonus eggs/babies/seeds for breeding, or possibly a familiar.

Q: What about stopping in the shop?
A: Uh, my undying love and affection?

Q: Could I work here?
A: Check the 'hiring' post--numbah 12. If we aren't hiring, then no. If we are hiring, you're more than welcome to submit an application. Just make sure you read the rules before doing so so there isn't any confusion later.

Q: What if I just want to do a pet trade?
A: That'd be up to the individual colorist. Many love pet trades, so send a PM to the mule titled 'pet trade' with a link to your shop. Unless I'm really taken with it, I probably won't trade for a journal/RP required pet.

Q: OMG the link for my pet is broken! What happened?
A: We ask that you direct link until the pet is grown, and then host on your own server. After that, we may move the pet or no longer keep it at all, so it's up to you to keep track of the images!

Q: What can I have as my pets personality?
A: You can do different things with it. You can have up to three, single word descriptors like "charming, flirtatious and daring" or a short description such as, "Friendly, if lazy and a bit confused."

Q: What is a random pet/color?
A: Where you pick the pet type and gender and give me one color that you don't want me to use, and I do the rest.

Q: Do you allow same sex breedings?
A: Sure.

Q: Can you breed pets of different species?
A: No.

Q: What if I have a familiar but no pet?
A: If you win a familiar in a game, flat, etc. but you don't have a pet to put it on, it will go in a sort of storage thread in the guild with your name and the familiars name if you want it to have one until you have a pet for him or her to hang out with :3
NEW Familiars may be certed alone.... If you choose.
