Lysa looks at the calligraphy. She has never actually seen it being done before, has had very little exposure to calligraphy in general actually, and so watches the porcelain man very carefully.

Boredom is something that's often confused her. People wouldn't be bored if they would just take interest and watch what was around them.

"I'm Lysa, by the way," she says, still watching his process. It occurs to her that he might be made uncomfortable by all her intense observation, and so looks away briefly before settling back into her chair and attempting to watch a little more nonchalantly.
Kouyo does not seem to notice or care whether she is watching him closely or not. As long as she stays out of his personal space range, whatever she does is fine. Kouyo is also not entirely certain he wants to risk looking at her, as so far as he can tell, the woman is not Porcelain and is very likely human, but he keeps that secret from her.

"Very nice to meet you, Lady Lysa," he says. He refrains from offering his opinions on boredom, except to say that he and boredom are intimate friends.

He gives off a vague feeling of being unsatisfied with his work, even though the High Priest has not yet removed his blindfold to actually look at the finished calligraphy. Taking another blank sheet of paper, he fiddles with his brush in the inkwell a little.
"Just Lysa," she grins, amused. "I'm certainly not a Lady," she continues, half-jokingly.

Head cocked in curiosity, Lysa leans in just a little closer. "Why do you do it blindfolded?" she asks, more to herself than to...whoever he is.

She still doesn't know his name, but she also doesn't want to be rude asking for it if he doesn't want to give it. With all her wandering, she's talked to plenty of people she's never known the names of, so it doesn't really bother her that much. She's much more curious about the calligraphy, anyway.

"More difficult," he tells her. "And more time." It is interesting, too, and works more on his mind than regular calligraphy does. This is intent, not technique. Has Lysa ever tried something like that? This leaf believes that the same character will look different depending on who it is for.

The High Priest hesitates a moment, then tries writing out the characters he had written before again, with an unspecified someone else in mind. Just... to show Lysa.
(( Re: DS, I just finished the main quests for the Ranch, and am at level 2.5 right now.

And if you guys are still playing after I return from my shower, I may try jumping in... whee ))
"Huh." This leaf? Ah well, I know what he means.

Intent and not technique. Lysa thinks about that for a moment as she watches him write the characters again.

"I think I understand... sort of. The only thing I can really compare it to, personally, is when I'm out wandering. There's not really any technique to it, you just do it. In fact, the harder you try to blend in, the better the chance of standing out. I guess intent is my technique."

She pauses a moment, her mind obviously somewhere else, before returning to the present. "Sorry. I mean, it's different. It's just the only thing I really have to compare to. I haven't done much else," she finishes, a touch sheepish at even mentioning the subject to a stranger.

Without looking, Kouyo is certain that the one he just penned is sharper, harsher, and perhaps more beautiful than the ones he had been writing earlier.

... But wandering must be nice. Where does the Lady Lysa go? This one has never traveled very much. Hardly at all in recent memory, until he came to Gaia. But he understands a bit about blending in. Or at least about being no one.
Lysa looks at the finished character. "You were right, that looks different. It's got a bit more...edge to it, I think."

"Sorry if I ramble a bit, it's been a while since I've just sat and talked to someone, " she continues, slowly answering the Porcelain's inquiry. "Whenever I wander, I usually try to learn all about the place I'm in, so I don't have much time to talk about myself. I was born on the road... I think. I wander anywhere the road takes me. Recently though, the road and I haven't exactly been on speaking terms." Lysa smiles at her little joke, though it's somewhat bittersweet.

"What about you, what do you do? Other than calligraphy." she asks, hoping to avoid burdening him with any more of her life story. It's not a topic she's comfortable discussing. Mainly because she's never actually discussed it before.

((and with that I must say goodnight. we shall continue later. smile Goodnight all!))
(( I missed RP crying Though perhaps it is fortunate, as I shouldn't go to sleep too late tonight. sweatdrop

"Propriety" is written! "Sleeping, Dreaming, and Lucid" relates to this one a lot, particularly the conception of inequality as positive. ))
