New thread created for my sanity.

[Island of Nikku]

These are the main rules of the shop and all things related - read them, remember them, live your lives by them, do whatever it takes to not break them.

1. FOLLOW THE GAIA ToS - This is probably the most important rule, as if you're breaking Gaia's rules, well then you're automatically breaking our rules, being that we're a part of Gaia and all...
2. DO NOT STEAL ART - This is almost as important as the first! Stealing somebody else's Nikku and pretending its yours/using it in your shop/etc. will get you BANNED from the shop and REPORTED. If anyone sees any stolen art or graphics floating about the net, please tell us!
3. BE RESPECTFUL - We don't care what your personal beef is with someone, keep it out of the shop! We want everyone to feel nice and happy here, and bickering just doesn't do that. Plus, people just don't wanna hear your arguements. So play nice~
4. NO BEGGING/WHINING! - We're sorry you didn't get a Nikku from the latest sale, or that you didn't have enough gold at the time, but begging and whining just isn't going to get you one any faster! Saying "Aww man, I missed out!" is okay, saying "GODDAMMIT I CANT BELIEVE I COULDNT GET IT I NEED GOLD UGHHHH I AM SO STUPID UGGGGHHHHHH T____________T" is not. This also goes for begging other people - they're not going to give you their pet they spent money on, so don't ask them!
5. KEEP LANGUAGE TO A MINIMUM! - We're not going to ask you to completely stop saying some words, but if we feel you're being a bit too vulgar in your posts, we'll have a little talk. Basically, if you think you shouldn't be saying it, you probably shouldn't. After all, there are young Nikkus about!
6. DO NOT SELL YOUR NIKKUS! - If you really need to get rid of it for some reason (and it better be an important reason, as they're not even RP required!), PM one of us and we'll talk. You may give a Nikku to a friend if you tell us so that we can re-cert it, but selling one, especially all on your own, is a big no-no.

Q: What's a nikku?
A: Nikkus are cat-like creatures that have lived in secret on the Island of Nikku (original name, huh?) for thousands of years.

Q: Where'd the name come from?
A: Basically a play on the word "neko". I thought it sounded cute, so I used it. YAY!

Q: EW ANOTHER CAT SHOP - WHY?
A: I like cats, saw the cats were cute, and bought the lineart. Hey beats a Furby shop - ok no it doesn't... and I own a Furby shop too xD!

Q: How many nikkus can we have?
A: As many as your heart desires.

Q: Soo... can I have one?
A: Of course... if you can get one in a flatsale, auction, raffle, etc. No random free nikkus for people who ask!

Q: But (so and so) got one!
A: Well, first of all, that's not a question... Second, there was probably a good reason. Either they're awesome or did something awesome. They certainly did not ask and beg.

Q: *whines* I want one NOWWWW! I have a lot of money to give!
A: Even if customs aren't open and there are no events, you may be able to bribe us with lots of gold and shiny items. ;P Just PM Island of Nikku or post here if so desired...

Q: I don't have ANY gold! Can we work out a payment plan?
A: Nope, you gotta have the gold. Payment plans would just get too messy!

Q: How about a pet trade?
A: Sure, just send a PM my way and I'll consider <3

Q: Hey wait, are these RP required?
A: I touched on this in the rules, but nope, they aren't. Of course, perks are given to active RPers as always.

Q: Hey, can same gender pets breed?
A: Why yes they can. I'll explain this in breeding once I open that section, but rest assured, we support all couples.

Q: Do I need to feed/wash/brush/walk my nikku?
A: Of course not - nikkus are smarter than the average cats, and seem to be able to handle all of the basic stuff all by themselves. Feel free to roleplay this if you'd like, though.

Q: But if I were to roleplay it, what would they eat?
A: Various fruits, veggies, and plants on the island (feel free to make stuff up, hehe). I suppose if you brought over some steak or fast food, they would eat it, just don't get them fat or anything!

Q: Can I get a big, uncerted version of my nikku?
A: Certainly! Just PM Island of Nikku with your request. You can even ask for past stages if you'd like, just not future ones if your nikku isn't an adult yet.

Q: WHY HASN'T (soandso) BEEN UPDATED YET?!
A: I probably have started school and will probably be busy, so there are chances that growings and such can be delayed. Sorry, blame school!

Q: Heyyy, who's nikkus are those on the first post?
A: Nobody's! They're based off Buy One Get One Free! real-life cats, Sherbert (a.k.a. Berbie) and Boo.

[Island of Nikku]

Years before you and I graced the Earth with our presence – thousands of years before, in fact – man was first beginning to dominate the Earth. The great goddess, Kotehok, ruler and creator of all feline creatures, payed little attention to this. After all, how could such an odd-looking creature pose any threat to the sleek, perfect design of her creations? She figured they would die out soon, and continued to rest in her palace in the clouds.

However, man was not going to just die out in a few years, as Kotehok thought. He began to get stronger. He started to develop tools and societies. He started hunting down larger creatures for food. When Kotehok started hearing cries and wails from her most prized creation, the sabertooth tiger, she looked down upon the Earth and saw man brutally slaughtering them. She was enraged, and instantly struck down those who did such a foul act. She was so troubled by this that she decided to calm her nerves, and went into a deep slumber. As she slept, she heard more cries from the tigers, and saw horrible images. As hard as she tried, she could not wake up to help them. The cries went on and on and on, until finally... they stopped. When she awoke, she looked again – there was not a single surviving sabertooth.

How could they have wiped out such a beautiful creature? Kotehok went into a white-hot rage, and flew down to Earth. With her legions of feline creatures, she waged a terrible war against all of mankind. The bloodshed went on for centuries, until Kotehok realized that man was just too strong of a species. With his advanced brainpower and weapon skills, he had almost completely obliterated all of the goddess's creatures. Realizing that she would only lose everything if she continued, she surrendered. As punishment for man, she would not allow them to live with her children anymore. She created an island sanctuary somewhere in an unknown corner of the Earth, and took all of her finest beings there. As she left, she wiped man of the memories of her and all she had created. The ones she left to them were the lesser creatures, the ones that were not capable of surpassing human thought and intellect – or even coming anywhere close to it. These eventually evolved into the feline species we see today in our world: lions, tigers, panthers, even down to the common house cat.

Just recently, though, some Gaians on a summer cruise were in a wreck and got washed upon the shores of a mysterious island. As they explored further into it, they saw all sorts of animals extremely similar to the cats they know of. These creatures, dubbed “Nikkus” by a couple of the locals there, were quite friendly, and told them of the island. When Kotehok looked down from her palace to see what was happening, she was shocked. Mankind! Before she went to strike them down, she had a second thought. These people clearly weren't the ones who destroyed her felines before, and seemed rather nice to the nikkus. Rather than destroy them, she decided to give them a second chance. So, she greeted these Gaians with presents – with nikkus in them, no doubt. She smiled as baby nikkus jumped out at them, and just hoped that she wouldn't have to watch them meet a terrible fate....

Kotehok is the creator of all nikkus. She is generally a very kind, loving goddess, who is willing to give most anybody a second chance. However, she is EXTREMELY proud of her creations and the island, and despises those who do anything to either. Anger her, and you'll feel her true wrath.
These days she is very rarely seen by both people and the nikkus – she has put all trust in Gaians in taking care of her precious children. When she creates new nikkus, she just gives the presents to the shady merchant to sell. Every so often she'll come about to get a closer look of the island, and even hold a festival or two. For the vast majority of times, however, she'll stay in her home in the skies, idling her time away. But fear not – she always watches from above.





The Shady Merchant (real name unknown) has basically lived on the island for as long as the nikkus could remember... and STILL nobody knows anything about him. His origins? His family? His likes and hobbies? Unknown. What is known is that he has some sort of relationship to the goddess, as he claims to receive various items and info from her – even presents. Rather than give these to Gaians, however, he sells them. What a little miser, huh?
Despite this, he's generally a friendly, out-going guy. While he'll never reveal anything about his identity, he'll come in to chat with others and have a fun ol' time. After all, other than Island of Nikku, who else can he really talk to?
His nikku, Foncé, has a few handicaps due to the merchant's careless experimenting (mainly blind, mute, and partially deaf), however he has extraordinary mind powers - rumor is that he can even communicate and see using some sort of telepathy... However, the only other nikku he will ever "talk" to is Lorne.




Island of Nikku strange little gal who knows absolutely everything there is and ever was to know about the island – and has even named herself after it. She helps the Shady Merchant with selling things, but other than that she really doesn't do much other than give out handy info. Sometimes, though, she'll help out Shady Merchant with selling stuff, and she does handle ALL of the money made (Shady Merchant is just way too careless).
Her nikku, Lorne, was a gift from the goddess for being so helpful to everyone and devoted to the island. She's a bit full of herself since she knows she's a strange, one-of-a-kind nikku, and thinks of other nikkus as lower beings. The only nikku she'll talk to with respect is Foncé - no one's too sure why, though...

Nikkus are creatures that greatly resemble the cats from your world. Their bodies are a bit shorter, their limbs are a bit longer, and they seem to lack noses. There are also different types of them that can differ greatly from each other - however they are all the same species.



There are five stages of Nikku life - Present, Newborn, Child, Teen, and Adult.

Unlike your cats, there are numerous different types of nikkus...


BASIC NIKKU

The most commonly seen Nikku, these inhabit the majority of the island. They primarily live in the fields and forests, but they have been spotted at low altitudes on the mountains and in shallow waters. However, they cannot swim for very long, and aren't skilled enough to ascend up to the snowy caps of the mountains.
The babies start off as fleshy-colored and hairless, but slowly their fur grows in and the markings begin to show. The females are very slender while the males are a bit chunkier. They commonly come in um... well... any color you can imagine!

WATER NIKKU

These Nikkus have evolved to adapt to aquatic life – they are born with back legs, but they disappear in adolescence. They have very long, eel-like bodies and fins, which allows them to swim into deeper waters without the worry of drowning (plus they have gills as well as lungs). They can come onto land for a few hours a day if necessary, but they are much more better suited in the water. They're very easy-going nikkus that prefer to do their own thing, but don't mind being with others.
The babies start off as a deep blue – this way they are hard to make out in the deep waters. The females have short, stubbier fins while the males have longer, thinner ones. They are usually cool colors, or sometimes sport patterns of Gaian/Earth fish (you guys have already effected the island!), but I've seen some weird ones before.

MOUNTAIN NIKKU

This type of Nikku lives up in the high mountains of the island. They have no tails, as they only ever got in the way while climbing for their ancestors. They have hooves instead of paws on their hind legs, and sport a large pair of horns. These nikkus tend to be very territorial and aggressive - it is not uncommon for them to get into fights over land or the safety of their loved ones... or even for little to no reason at all.
The babies are a brown color, which allows them to blend into the rocky cliffs of the mountains. The females have horns that wrap around their ears, and the males have large, upright horns that are used in fighting with others. They're mostly earthy tones of greens, browns, and tans, but one time, I TOTALLY saw this hot pink one... it was awesome.

SNOW NIKKU

Snow nikkus are the least common of the basic nikkus; they only live on the ice caps of the mountains. Sometimes they travel a bit further down, but they don't get too far – they can't stand the heat. Their long, shaggy hair keeps them from freezing in their environment. Due to the barrenness of their habitat, these Nikkus always work together as a team for survival, and rarely have disputes with each other.
The babies are born with a snowy-white layer of fur that gets longer and develops color as they grow. The females have very long, straight hair, while the males sport a large mane. Their fur is commonly white with colored highlights, or just very pale colors... however there have been exceptions.

ROCK NIKKU


Rock Nikku are absolutely and undeniably the physically strongest of all the Nikku. They are also the slowest and most polite of any Nikku. They are very philosophical and never do anything without a defined purpose. Because they move slowly they are often made fun of by the other Nikku (especially the lightning) but the Rock Nikku never take it harshly. They like to sit and contemplate everything around them and often never go farther than a few miles from where they were born. The Rock Nikku are considered to be very wise and in their adult stage are regarded as the ultimate authority on everything. If the rock nikku don’t know the answer then only the goddess knows. Because of their immense strength if the Rock Nikku really feel threatened they can actually move at just below the top speed of a normal Nikku but not for very long. They prefer to defend what they consider to be theirs, and often this is the whole community/region. Rock Nikku are very difficult to take down because of their hard skin and it usually takes only one hit from a Rock Nikku to take anything down (Excluding the Gods and Goddesses). The Rock Nikku NEVER fight each other, it is an unspoken understanding between them and when they are rallied to battle Rock Nikku always fight together. They are the most peaceful and show this by never allowing violence between each other, it is the ultimate sin.

LIGHTNING NIKKU


When a lightning Nikku is born, it has two tiny horns on its head that attract all kinds of electricity and clouds to them. Because of this, when they are babies, they tend to have a little, almost misty barrier around them. This is thought to be a defense mechanism because as babies, they are unable to use any of their powers - they can only absorb electricity. Once they get a little older, the cloud cover that is attracted to them settles on their body and takes on the feel of wool. Once a lightning Nikku reaches its child stage it never sits still. These Nikku tend to be very light and prefer to get around by leaping, or running as they strongly dislike walking. They can not fly, but because of their light bodies and absorbed magnetism they can float a little bit. They love to be in high places, and it is only when they think they are at the very highest place possible that they will sit still. Because of the inability to stay still, it is tremendously difficult to talk to the Lightning Nikku. However, should you manage to find yourself in a conversation with one, you will realize that they are quite intelligent as they are always going places, thus they tend to know where everything is and are the most excellent guides.

GRYPHON NIKKU


The Gryphon Nikku are jovial and very active. They tend to have a hard time walking as babies and young children because their back legs are a bit thinner and the claws tend to chafe. However, once their legs get stronger, they love to run. These Nikku L-O-V-E to feel the wind on their face and are always doing something. They are very proud of their abilities, and will tend to show off their aerial tricks and anything else they are able to do and master. They can’t stand being made fun of, and will often strike out at whoever made them look bad or they will challenge their attacker to a game of wits and/or physical strength. They may, however, have a little bit of tolerance for being made fun of by their own kind, because it is in their nature to boast. But any other species better watch out!

DRAGON NIKKU


Dragon Nikkus are considered to be one of the most dangerous Nikku breeds, even on par with the Corrupted. These Nikku usually prefer to be alone and are naturally suspicious of every other living thing. They only truly trust in themselves, and are only at peace when surrounded by nature (In water, a dense forest, a desert, ect). Because they are the strongest breed of Nikku and have the sharpest/longest claws, they tend to stand down from a fight. But they only stand down once... They give you one chance before they attack and ONLY one chance. Dragon Nikku hold honor in high regard and will always be polite and curious. But if you do ANYTHING that betrays their trust, and/or beliefs, you will find yourself public enemy #1 in a matter of seconds. Dragon Nikkus can breathe fire, but it is their last resort because it is such a destructive weapon. They don’t like nor mean to destroy, but they will if you push them that far. You have been warned.

PIXIE NIKKU

These are very special Nikku born straight from the breath of the Goddess. Whenever the goddess looks down upon her creations and feels love and pride, a Pixie Nikku is born. They have to be harvested from the clouds (they tend to get stuck in its cushiness) and as babies they tend to sleep and relax, but they are always watching for new things. When they reach the child stage they become intensely curious. Pixie Nikku want to know how EVERYTHING works. They will take apart anything they can get their hands on just to see what’s inside and learn its secrets. They are always asking questions, and can often stare at something for hours or days before they are satisfied that they have learned everything they can about it. They tend to have an ever positive and curious attitude but mostly speak in questions. They enjoy testing the knowledge of the people around them, and so often memorize any riddle they hear. Sometimes if you challenge a Pixie Nikku to a riddle contest and answer 3 riddles in a row correctly they will do you any favor that is in their power (and that’s alot). Pixie Nikkus have small amounts of magic at their disposal, they can enchant jewelry to shine forever, make small plants grow, repair any garment of any fabric and make it like new, you know little stuff. They also have the power to make you forget, Pixie Nikkus can take one memory and erase it from your mind. But this takes a lot out of them and if they do this, they can not use magic for a week afterwards. They can only do this once per Nikku because they don’t want to cause brain damage. So don't worry about losing your memory more than once.... I think...?

SHY NIKKU
These nikkus aren't quite their own species, however they do appear from time to time. Unlike most nikkus, who tend to have happy and bubbly personalities, the shy nikkus are much more introverted and tend to dislike social activities. While they have just as much potential to be like any other nikku, it takes longer for them to really be able to trust anyone else. For them to mate for life takes twice the effort - they have to be absolutely sure that they can give their heart to someone else.
One can tell a shy nikku from the others right at the beginning if they have a close eye - their presents are duller than those of others. At the child stage, they can clearly see that something is up with them. They just don't look quite as happy as the others.

COSPLAY NIKKU
Sometimes the people of Gaia can greatly influence nikkus to the point where a group of them becomes absolutely fascinated with something from their culture. For instance, if a video game becomes popular, then this group of nikkus will go to extreme lengths to try to perfectly mimic their favorite characters from that game, and sometimes even roleplay as them. While they do not have any magic powers that a character would have, they can have great skills similar to them (ex: swordsmanship, martial arts, singing, etc.).
A cosplay nikku is dressed up as a character from some series in the Earth world. They may even be somebody's original character. They stick out from other nikkus, so when one's around, it's really hard to miss them.

Rules

1. Nikkus are 5,000 gold ((8,000 for growings)) unless stated otherwise. I suppose every so often a special one or two might pop out, perhaps... but the regular guys are five thousand G's.
2. No co-owning the regular Nikkus. I suppose any specially-special ones can have two owners, but the regular ones will just get confused.
3. No editting posts! WOW that would be annoying, having a bunch of people edit their posts during a flatsale... Eeeurgh, just dont do it!
4. Please don't change your mind about buying a Nikku when you've already posted. When you say you're buying one, you better buy it! This also follows into...
5. Have enough money/send trades ASAP! Even more annoying than the others would be saying you're buying a nikku, then having me prepare the little guy for its new home... and then no money! NO MONEY! Oh, its so tragic... please send trades within 24 hours of purchase or else we're reselling it. No exceptions!
6. All trades should be sent to Island of Nikku! That's right, ISLAND OF NIKKU! That psycho little dude handles all the money, I just supply the merchandise! He gets the money, and if you sit there waiting for me to take your money, then Rule 5 is going to go into affect. Yeowch, what a kick in the pants THAT would be....
7. One nikku per flatsale/event! If you buy one for a friend, then you may buy one for yourself. Just try not to buy them all for your friends @_@

Rules

1. PM me with your orders - easier to keep track that way!

Don't request if there are no slots! If nothing is open, then sorry, nothing is open. I suppose you COULD bribe with TWICE the amount of gold, if you really wanted, though....

2. All trades and PMs STILL go to Island of Nikku! Again, I'm just putting in the word for ya - that little gal handles all the money. ALL OF IT! For EVERYTHING!

3. Send trades within 24 hours of your custom being finished! You don't have to pay until your custom arrives (though paying beforehand is always nice), but if you haven't sent your trade to Island of Nikku 24 hours after its done, it will be resold. No exceptions! Not even if you send it to me! I'll let it rot.

4. No cosplays of main characters of a series! You may request cosplays, however not the main characters. What would happen if I wanted to do, say, a Legend of Zelda event, and there's already a Link? Also, no repeat cosplays, unless you have permission to do so. Here at Island of Nikku, we have quite a few types of Nikku species so it is possible to have more than one cosplaying Nikku but the species have to be different!

Also, there are animes/games that I know for sure I will NOT do an event of. You can PM me and ask if a series is something I'll never do, and then I can make a custom of a main character from it. These kinds are first-come, first-serve when the slots are open, soo... yeah.

5. Try not to request one that's extremely similar to another nikku! Variety is the spice of life!
