Fortunettes are children of both circumstance and fate. They begin their lives as items- some common, and some a little rarer. Most have been obtained in trade, as the gypsy people are versatile in this mercantile art. ^_~ Their fates move from that of an object, to an animal... to a darkling infant, and grow into either very devoted, loving beings... or dark, bestial creatures still driven by the darkness. Fortunettes, if they are followed through, and nurtured by their parent... can have seven or MORE stages.

Fortunettes live with their parent (or plural... co-owning is fine..), in their wagon, which becomes part of our caravan, travelling across the land. There will be many times that the caravan stops to trade, or when we are summoned to an area to perform gypsy magic for a set price. ...Any caravan member that participates in these (frequent..) events will be rewarded, and their Fortunette will grow, not only in size and sight, but in magical abilities and happiness. It will become closer to you, and closer to the magical bond that makes us all Gypsy People.

The caravan is like a traveling village. Each member of our caravan has their own wagon, where they live as a separate family unit within the greater whole of the travelling group. Everyone tends to treat eachother as family within the caravan and help eachother out in a time of need. Some gypsies may be more tricky and selfish than others but somehow the bond of the road seems to help everyone through their quarrels. Right now, the balance of strongest power lies from Ravenwood through Rusting Canvas.

+ Flatsale Fortunettes are 20k. These are TONS of work on the owner's parts with many stages so don't whine about the price. Special sale prices are set & posted then.

+ I won't take your Fortunette away. Even if you disappear off the face of the planet. But it will NOT grow if you do. If you blatantly break shop rules (and I mean, like, awful-like), we'll kick YOU out. But feel free to keep your Fortunette art/rp it somewhere ELSE.

+ All trades pertaining to the shop are sent to Valelldia.

+ When you complete a favor, please pm Valelldia saying which favor you completed, and where you posted it.

+ Lurkers and non-Fortunette owners are welcome to join in the RP. Travelling gypsies often come across the people of the area we're passing through- and we'd be happy to share a campfire with a stranger. ^_~

+ For trading rules, please see the trading guide.

+ You cannot summarily 'gift' your Fortunette with abilities, or bring magical animals/abilities into your wagon without PERMISSION.

+ The only person who can godmode others charas without permission is Valelldia/Oqaia/. Period. ^_^

+ Only three Fortunettes per gypsy character. This doesn't mean you're limited to one gypsy/parent character. Have as many of those as you'd like.

You may have noticed that 'Valelldia' doesn't have posts outside of the Fortunettes thread- and that would be because she's the mule for the thread. Also, something you should know about Val is that she has a bit of a multiple personality disorder. ^_~ She has been a lot of people through the ages, our Val.



As a Gypsy: Valelldia is the essence of a gypsy- free and aching for change, magical, mystical, with a keen eye for trade and a strong attachment to the caravan she loves so dearly. She chooses which items will be best used to create a Fortunette, she casts the tarot and the runes to discover quests, and she directs the caravan on their journey across the plains and woods and over mountains. She's beautiful, mysterious, and very generous.

Vals of the Past...

EmVal: Also known as Emelyn. Em was the concept creator of this fabulous shop, and, with Laur, the original owner and shop manager/rp manager.

LaurVal: Aka Laur, or Lauroid. She was one of the original shopowners, and the original Fortunette artist. All the old banners, Fortu art, and certs are c) Laur.

PanVal: Pandara is the one whose vision decided to reopen the shop, and give it a new direction under her fantabulous art-ses. ^_^ Many of the Fortunettes are still being done by Pan.

OqVal: Hey there! You can call me Oq, short for Oqaia. ^_~ I was brought in as the general manager of the Fortunettes under Pan's illustrious rule, but now, I am the current possessor of dear Val, and thus of the Fortunettes Shop itself. I'm the current and hopefully future owner of the place, and as you can see, I've got a long legacy of wonderful ladies to look up to.

::Other Staff & Help ::

+Elysia Kavanagh is a staff artist who draws several Fortunettes and also does all the trading items you see. You won't see her in Val, but if you see her about in her staff mule Taniel, snog her. She's fabulous.

+Keppit is another staff artist who draws several Fortunettes. I don't think she'd appreciate being snogged, but ruffle her up anyway. She's a fantastic artist and deserves it.

[Valelldia]

Trading is a particular speciality of the Gypsy People... we are clever, shrewd, and always have an eye out for a good trade. Our caravan is no different- in fact, often the sole reason we will travel into an area is for the trading opportunities. ...This section is to keep track of what we have obtained in trade.

Whatever they have for ware will be presented here- and it will be up to you, at that point, to engage the owner in trade. You may use gold couplets to purchase the item- or you might try to trade them some item you acquired earlier on in our travels. ...You may also trade amongst each other, with your fellow gypsies, if you have Valelldia's approval. (And you usually will. She'd just like to know what her caravan is up to.)

Only items acquired on our travels, or the gold couplets earned from Valelldia/ traded from other wagon members- may be used in trade. (In other words, no making up an item. XD)

Customs

There are two different sorts of customs available.

Full Custom is just what it says: you get to choose the item, animal, sex, element, basic appearance... and can even choose whether it becomes a Fortunette Adult or an Unfortunette, if you'd like. Full Custom= 300k flat fee.

Partial Custom is you get to choose the animal, the sex, and the element. All the rest- including the item... is up to the artist. Partial Custom is 150k flat fee.

The Future...

+What is a gypsy, that cannot see into the depths of the future, or that cannot call upon the meij to answer questions that the heart wants to know?

Valelldia will read the voice of the future- for a small price- gypsy gold (couplets.) This can only be gained through doing favors for Valelldia, trading gypsy gold with other members of the caravan, or through trading.



+What can I ask of the Meij?

-You can ask for a general fortune or a specific question for you or your Fortunette for 20 pieces of gypsy gold. This will be general- and may be very cryptic, but it will eventually make sense to you. (Also known as, something will eventually happen to you or your Fortunette, whether in rp or through a granted ability, etc. ^___^)

What else can I ask?

-You can ask the meij to heal you or your child, or to tell you their fortune, or ask it to grant you a special ability. These readings are 40 gold to request an ability- however, ask wisely, and consult with Valelldia before requesting, or you may find the meij becomes angry- and bequeaths upon you a skill... you never would care for.

Favors

+Anyone can fulfill a favor of Valelldia's (or Oqais ^_^) and receive from them gold couplets. Favors will be posted here, as well as what will be required of them.

Gold totals will be upheld here. If you have a desire to fulfill a favor, claim it here in the thread first, then start to do what it says! When you're done, send a PM to Valelldia, saying that you've completed it, give a link, and say who else was involved.

Meij Whatty?

+There is a stream of magic that runs through the world- the meij, and it flows directly through those who call themselves gypsies. It is not black or white or good or bad- but all at once. Those who travel together may not have been born into the wanderers lifestyle, nor have 'gypsy blood'- but they are all bonded, for they are drawn to the meij, and it to them.

A Fortunette is just a strong magical entity that lives within the meij, but it longs to be free, and to live with us, the magic-keepers. Every rare while, one of these entities will find one of us that they want to live their lives with, and they pursue an object. When they are ready, they ask to be called into this world by their parent.


+Er...okey dokey. But what do I need to know about this?

Mostly that your Fortunette is directly affected by this. Depending on if your Fortunette found its way into a dangerous object, what elements guide it, and what animal it changed into, will determine whether it has a difficult journey ahead of it- or an easier one.

+...Um... we need examples. o_o

Okey dokey. Anezka. She was a rune stone originally, which means she was already very tied into the magic world. THEN... she transformed into a rabbit- a very gentle, loving animal. She has mixed light/air elements. Also good, sweet things. So far, she's got an easier journey ahead of her as far as transformations go. Pierre, on the other hand- hooboy. The kid was a dagger, then into a hedgehog (where he had some grounding in the fact that he was an earth sign, so he had some easy time there) but there are still some very violent tendencies there. So he's got a bit of a harder time ahead.

+Wait a minute- does that mean all the cute fluffy animals have an easier time?
Ha. You'd think that, wouldn't you? Mwa ha. No, actually, they can have some of the worst times, because when they are exposed to the darker meij for their animal/human transformation, they are tainting their sweet, pure nature with the darkness. That betrayal, if not guided and supported by you, the parent, can cause a child serious trouble.

Okay, so I don't have a Banner, Yet...

:: Breeding Q's ::

Who question : Any of the following can breed with each other: any human/humanoid creature, a Fortunette late stage teen or Fortunette/Unfortunette Adult. A single can also petition the meij for a baby. M/F, M/M, F/F. No relatives. Period.


How question : Depends on the pairing. If the female is a human, and the Fortunette they're involved with is very much a Fortunette (more human) then it may be au natural. Otherwise, traditional 'meij finds a momma/poppa' sort of situation we're all familiar with.


Whatta I do question : Sometimes, Oq will get antsy and give a couple (or a single- albeit very rarely) a Fortu baby for free, and at random to push along a plot. Don't hold your breath for this, though. When you decide you want your Fortu to breed, you inform me, Oqaia, and we'll talk it over. I love you all dearly, but remember, I reserve the right to prevent breedings that I think will screw with a master plan and/or the integrity of this breedable.


Price question : Hafta discuss it with my artists. However, they will not be custom options- unless you buy an existing custom package. The 'to have a baby' price will be considerably less than auction price. Likely along the lines of a flatsale.

:: Possible Side-Effects ::

• Teen Fortunette parents have up to a 50% higher chance of becoming Unfortunette Adults. There is also a chance that their infant will be deformed/dark.
  
• Babies from Unfortunette parents have a very good chance of being born with a dark mark, and a stigma curse. Essentially, they will retain darkling status for longer than infant, and their fortunes/plot happenings will reflect that.
  
• Element mixes from the parents could cause some... chaos. Need I say more? ^_^
