It has been centuries since the Order was founded. Although legends will speak of grander things, it was a mere pact between friends that started what is now a revered organization, the Order of Wizards. Their passion was knowledge, and their dream was a world of magic, harnessed and used for good. Thus came the achievement that would set the stage for centuries of study.

Dragons were discovered.

Well, to say they were discovered may have been a bit of an exaggeration. History had provided numerous examples of how dragons had benefited humankind, mostly through the various uses of dragon body parts, but for the first time a dragon had been tamed and bonded to a wizard.

With these bonds the dragon was able to lend it's elemental affinity to it's wizard, strengthening the wizard's abilities and making the study of magic possible, and necessary. With the realization of what strengths these dragons bestowed upon their keepers, the numbers of wizards grew until it became clear that regulations must be put in place to prevent utter chaos. Thus the Order of Wizards was created. It provided structure to balance out the promise of power that dragons offered, and only upon completion of tests can individuals join the Order and receive dragons.

Today members of the Order are found in towns and cities everywhere, but there is not a wizard that wouldn't live in Dorhaven. This is the home of the largest research and educational institute, and the heart of all magical study. Promising students flock to the city to learn the ways of the wizards, and the booming business on the streets is catered to the magical community.

All successful wizards start their journey here. Will you join them?

Dragons

Egg: Dragon eggs are typically the length of an adult's palm. They don't require much care, and have very tough and durable shells. Wizards traditionally place their dragon eggs in little beanbag cushions specifically made for that purpose, so they can prevent the egg from rolling off flat surfaces, and can keep an eye on it before it hatches. These little beanbags are often quickly sewn from cheap fabric, since most wizards are not known for their wealth. Thankfully the eggs don't mind.

Dragon: Within a week or two, a young dragon will emerge. Dragons are fully developed at hatching, although they will spend the next few weeks growing to their adult size. A full grown dragon is about the size of a young kitten, or large rat depending on who you ask. Males are typically larger than females although there will always be natural size variation within the species. Although the dragons require some growing upon hatching, their minds are quick and eager to learn. They absorb knowledge rapidly, and are easily trained once a wizard figures out how to deal with their love of shiny items.

Traits

Dragons are very diverse creatures, each one showing a set of unique traits such as fur, wings, horns, and scales. It is rare to see a pair of dragons with identical traits outside of twins, or highly selective breeding.

User Image

Affinities and Bonds

From the moment they are conceived, each dragon has an affinity for a particular element, or elements. A dragon may have a natural affinity for two elements, but more often a dragon will acquire a second affinity through the use of an item or through an event. These elements may even be strengthened through experience.

These elements are of particular interest to wizards, who will bond with their dragon upon hatching or using special magic to transfer a bond when they purchase an adult. A dragon can only bond to one wizard at a time, since it becomes particularly fond of it's wizard and will suffer if it is split between two individuals. Hence a wizard may receive sponsorship or research grants for purchasing dragons, but the dragon can only bond to one wizard despite joint ownership.

The bond is special, not just because it represents a special closeness between dragon and wizard, but because it strengthens the wizard's ability to use magic within belonging to their dragon's elements. Although a dragon may only bond one wizard, a wizard may bond many dragons and thus increase their abilities.

Flatsales

The flatsale price is typically 4k, starting from the egg stage. The method may vary from sale to sale, and may include speed sales, flaffles, dice rolls, and possibly more involved sales such as trivia, egg hunts, or minigames. More involved flatsale types may also include RP prompts. Exact details will be posted at or shortly after a sale is announced.

Auctions

The starting bid is usually 4k, and may start at the egg or adult stage. Monthly Collectables and letters will be accepted at TekTek values. Regardless of the auction's duration, bidding in the last ten minutes will result in a ten minute extension in which opposing bids can be made. It is asked that bidders and onlookers observe good form and not participate in guilt-tripping, don't withdraw bids, and send prompt payment and dragon information upon winning an auction.

Raffles

Raffle details may vary depending on the sale, but these will be infrequent. Details and ticket prices will be posted at or shortly after the sale is announced.

Contests

Contests may occur from time to time, and will be posted in a thread of their own. Each will have details, rules and prizes listed there, with a link here.

Sales: Mystery Egg sale, July 25th @ 9pm EST.
User Image

The mystery sale will be speed based, after the Go the first six people to claim an egg will get one. Unlike previous flatsales, the dragon that hatches will depend on what you expose your egg to before it hatches. Please note that these will not be custom coloured, your dragon will be selected from a precoloured batch to best match what you write for it.

- A thread in the guild will be set up for you to post in, you should try to make at least four posts before your egg hatches.
- You should be prepared to write in a journal style, IC with your wizard or yourself. No point form notes or lists, please. ^_^;
- You should describe anything that might influence your egg, like where you took it, what it was exposed to, what types of people/dragons you might have shown it to, etc.
- You must stick to the realm descriptions, if you aren't sure about what's possible after browsing the guild info by all means ask the staff about it. <3

IC Background: Dorhaven's Research and Instructional Institute is always at the forefront of magical invention. One promising line of experimentation and investigation into altering elemental affinities has yielded several unusual eggs that show no clear affinity. Six wizards have been specifically chosen to monitor these eggs, and the dragons that hatch from them, and report back to the researchers. Each egg is cool to the touch and has a texture and weight similar to regular eggs, and displays no abnormality aside from it's lack of affinity.

Games: Dragon Tournament, time TBA. >3

Breeding: July 19th, @ 8pm EST in the Guild. The raffle will be open until 8pm EST on the 20th.

Customs: None scheduled.

Pet Trades/Bribes: See pg. 2.

Most roleplay for Dreams of the Order is centered in the Guild. It is not required for ownership, breeding, or item purchases, but there are bonuses for RPers. Certain items are only available through RP, and active dragons have a chance for an extra egg in breedings, and a shot at developing a stronger affinity for their element.

A wizard persona is not required for roleplay in this shop, but it is recommended since RP interactions can either focus on dragons or their wizards. There is opportunity to create a notebook for your wizard persona, so you can keep track of your dragons, items, and coins, which is the currency of the realm for which you can buy items at our item shop.

Items can be found in the Shopping District in the guild. You can find accessories for your dragons to wear, stones to enhance your dragon's elemental affinity, and RP related items here. These items maybe purchased either with gold, or coins earned through RP.

Like dragon purchases, breeding decisions are practical matters and are handled by the dragon's wizard. Thankfully the dragons don't usually mind, since they don't share human concepts of romance, and rarely develop parental bonds with their eggs. Although dragons may have a 'favorite' dragon for which they have strong feelings for, these feelings wouldn't affect the dragon's willingness to breed unless they strongly dislike the proposed mate.

Dragon clutches usually contain two eggs, although clutches of three are possible from RPed dragons. These offspring will inherit the parents' colors and elements, or a new element may appear as a result of the parents' combined affinities. Acquired elements may show up in offspring coloration.

Breedings are handled by the Dragon Rookery Association in the guild. The Dragon Rookery Association is a special group of expert breeders, each one specializing in bringing out specific elements or traits in offspring. Although breeders are very busy, they usually open up breeding slots to the public on a regular basis. To see all the dragon breeding opportunities available to you, please visit the Dragon Rookery Association in the guild.

Custom dragons are requested through contacting a breeder, and specifying what colors, markings, elements, and traits you would like for your dragon. The breeders are highly skilled at finding the appropriate parents to breed your custom dragon.

Please keep in mind that breeders cannot do cosplays, and there may be some trait combinations that are physically impossible. Custom traits may not always be available, but they will be expensive since it often takes extensive research on the part of the breeder.

To see pricing and availability of custom bred dragons, please visit the Rookery Masters in the guild.

New questions will be added as necessary, if you can't find the information you need feel free to ask in the thread. =3

How do I know my dragon's gender?

The dragon's gender when it hatches is right on the tag, located on the parchment behind the writing.

Why hasn't this tag/pet/post/list been updated yet?

Our shop has quite a few staff members, so we have a thread to keep track of who's done what, so things can be updated when the staff responsible for that gets a chance to check the thread. If something hasn't been updated, it just means the staff member hasn't had time yet. Since we make regular posts, it's not likely your update has been forgotten.

Can I have my dragon bond to someone outside the shop realm?

Yes, provided the character doesn't interact with wizard characters in a way that would cause confusion in RP situations. The formal RP in the guild should involve only characters within the shop's realm, informal RP in the shop thread may or may not not depending on how serious it is. Dragons will interact with other dragons just fine in both types of RP. Dragons can be RPed with their non-realm bonds in other shops provided the other shop owner allows it.

Can my wizard have an unusual appearance?

Yes, provided you can logically back it up. Magical accidents are extremely rare for both students and trained wizards, and are more likely to scar or maim a character than have selective and benign effects like growing horns or an odd hair colour. Some differences may be explained by racial characteristics (see info in the guild), or simple use of cosmetics like hair dyes or illusory magic. If you are still not sure if your idea will work, feel free to discuss it with the shop staff.

This shop is very much a joint effort by so many people, so credit will be given accordingly.

The beautiful tags were done by merangue, flatsale preview assistance can be credited to lilwerewolfgirl, and item design and creation was done by Prolixity. Some traits and events couldn't have been worked through without Kaliandria's assistance. <3

The original dragon trait concept for this shop belongs to Spiky's Shadow, and is used lovingly with permission.

Although they can't claim credit in a conventional sense, thanks goes to a multitude of people who helped see the shop's creation through, including the shop staff, and those already listed above. Without their willing consultation, the shop probably wouldn't have made it past a plot. <3

Lastly, the dragon lines and shading were done by Grey Dragon, as were the story and realm concepts.
