COME FLY WITH ME~
Name: Cala Coup (Pronounced Kah-la C-oo)
Personality: Cala is just as her drink is described – light and sunny. Always eager to offer assistance, she’s an easy girl to get along with, others finding it simple enough to bring a smile to her face. She likes to dance, although typically more of an older style of dance as opposed to the sensual movements often stirred by the sounds of the bar. Well-mannered, respectful and trustworthy, you can always tell how she’s feeling… or can you? Cala may be all sunshine and no rain, but when it comes to a certain blue lagoon, perhaps she’s hiding more than you would think.
Prompt:
“I would like a mojito, light on the mint, please.”
“Right away Ma’am!” came the sunny reply, Cala’s voice sliding surprisingly well in with the beat of the music of the bar. Although she was only two feet tall (perhaps a little smaller) she didn’t seem daunted by the fact that the patrons are twice to nearly three times her size, moving easily through the darkly lit room and around the dancing patrons, her lemon-yellow dress turning a multitude of different colors as she half tiptoed, half danced towards the bar and towards a certain melanistic jaguar bartender.
“A mojito for table three, Mr. Maxwell, not too much mint,” she parroted the order back to the barkeep, trying not to grin as she watched him begin to prepare the drink.
A hint of blue in the corner of her eye made her pause, however, Cala’s soft gold eyes shifting to her right and settling on the form of another c*cktail. Pale blue skin, stunning blue eyes, decadently red cherries adorning her hair, the Acapulco c*cktail was not unfamiliar with the Blue Lagoon girl. They had been two of three c*cktails introduced at the same time, the third being Mr. Along Came a Spider. Cala had no qualms with him – he seemed… nice enough… but the blue c*cktail… there was something… magical about her. Mr. Maxwell had pegged her dead-on -- she certainly was a cool beauty. So calm, so mature, and quite lovely…
“Cala?”
The Acapulco c*cktail dropped the hem of her skirt in surprise at the low voice behind her, spinning around and glancing up to find a particular fish-hyte standing above her, curiosity etched in his features. Cala swallowed and chuckled a little nervously, her smile weak and a little sheepish.
“Dear Kaede… what are you doing here?”
“I came to pick you up… remember?” Kaede responded, his voice laced with confusion, as well as a tinge of suspicion. Tilting his head to one side, the koi-hyte placed a hand on his hip and quirked an eyebrow at the girl, giving her an increasingly more and more suspicious look, “What are you looking at?”
“Me?” Cala flushed a little guiltily, her eyes flickering to her left and right, as if looking for an escape route. Unfortunately, none magically appeared, and the c*cktail lifted her eyes back to the Hyte, guilt tinged with embarrassment written all over her expression. “I was… not looking at anything…” she replied a little hurriedly, turning on one foot to grab her specially-made pencil and notepad, looking as if she might start heading towards the tables once more. Her amber eyes lingered on the tables as she avoided the Hyte’s, which were focused curiously on the tiny figure.
Kaede blinked, puzzled. Cala? Hiding something? He hadn’t really considered that she could hide something – honest almost to a fault, she had never had any problem admitting anything before, even when she had dropped (and broken) a champagne glass when she was a child. Even then she had admitted it right away (although it had been in a fit of tears). So he couldn't understand what would compel the little drinklet to attempt to keep secrets.
On a hunch, Kaede glanced around the bar, letting his eyes scan over the other c*cktails wandering about, helping to keep the bar flowing nicely. “Were you admiring the white c*cktail over there?” He asked curiously, no annoyance to his voice. The little gold girl glanced back up at the Hyte in surprise, a look of surprise and slight displeasure on her face, wrinkling her pretty little nose. “Him? Never,” She responded easily, relaxing marginally now that she thought she was safe. “Oh he’s charming, for sure but… I don’t know, I never really had much interest in him…”
Kaede nodded in understanding, watching Cala carefully.
“And how about the little blue girl?”
At this, Cala jumped a little, flushing a little further, knowing she had been caught.
“… maybe…”
Again, Kaede blinked. What a silly little drink. Was that really all that this had been about? Cala had a little crush on the Blue Lagoon? “Well why don’t you talk to her?” he asked, bewilderment apparent in his voice
“I do! She’s a lovely person. Very composed. Always has something very insightful to say,” she replied happily, the little yellow fruit in her hair bobbing pleasantly as she nodded. Kaede resisted the urge to rub his temples, instead allowing the corner of his mouth to curl in a half smile.
“I mean, why don’t you tell her?”
For a moment the Acapulco girl paused, a look of unhappiness crossing her usually sunny features. “No…” Cala replied wistfully, tiptoeing carefully passed the koi-hyte towards the door. “She’d never notice me.”
