ong ago, in a land far, far away--

                              Wait.
                              That's so cliché. Hm.

It was a dark and stormy night--

No, no, no. That doesn't work at all.
Well, it was a long time ago, in someplace that wasn't close, alright? Does that work for you?

                              ...

                              Anyways.

Before our world even existed, there was a land called Eulanaea. It was a land of pure fantasy--
magic forests, sorcery, and best of all, cool accents.

However, around the time our world was beginning, Eulanaea's peace was disrupted by a terrible
time of monster outbreak, due to gates opening up in different portions of the land. Though it wasn't completely unexpected. The oracle had a vision of some sort of monster attack. And that being an incredibly hefty vision for an oracle, she became very ill, and eventually...passed on.

The gates were scattered about, leading to other worlds, where the monsters had come in. The
most popular theory explaining these random gates was a mad sorcerer's experiment gone
awry. But it really didn't matter how the gates got there. What mattered was what was coming
                              through them.

Some of Eulanaea's people decided that this era was not suitable for raising their children. And
one of these gates I mentioned lead to a brand new world -- our world -- that was free of
                              monsters and evils.

And so, the children were handed over to the gate keeper, who transported them to this new
world, in hopes of them growing up safely.

Five hundred years later, the gates burned themselves out. After all, they take an awful lot of magic, and couldn't have stayed there forever. A wall was built to seal the monsters away, so the people of Eulanaea could figure out what to do.

Now. Fast-forward about a thousand years.

Where are the descendants of the original children now?

                              Now, the year is 2010.
Things are going well for this new world, now called Earth.
We have medicine, cars, electricity, iPods...
Heck, we even have spinny chairs!

And here, my friends, is where the gates begin appearing again.

No one has an explanation for it. They just appear, in completely random places.
And one gate happens to appear in an average, ordinary high school, in a closet, in the teachers'
                              lounge.

The students may have had their theories, but I'm betting they would've never guessed there's a
portal to another world behind that door their teacher escapes to.

None of the teachers even know about this gate.
I know what you're thinking. How could they not?
Well, they just think it's a closet of art supplies, that have overstayed their welcome. I mean,
really, if you were a teacher, would you have any particular interest in checking a dusty old closet for a magical portal to another world?
                              Didn't think so.

Well, one day, a group of gutsy high school students, hoping to solve the mystery that is the teachers' lounge, decide to sneak into it.
And after searching for some sort of interesting...thing...do you know what they find?
Yes, you guessed it-- they find the gate.

And, it just so happens...Some of these students have bloodlines from ancient Eulanaea...

                              Obey, or be virtually shunned.

                              xxxxxxxxxx General.

Okay, so, hopefully we shouldn't have to tell you that the Gaia ToS should be followed at all times.
Be nice to everyone, don't flame or troll, don't criticize anyone's posts unless it's constructive...
                              Yada yada...
You know, be a generally good person. Hopefully you are anyway...But if you're not, we don't
                              want to figure that out.

Mistress Cookie Thrower and iKrazii are your goddesses. At least in this world. So, listen to us,
respect us, and we guarantee life will be more enjoyable for you <3
We are (or at least Mistress Cookie Thrower is) a particularly strict against godmodding, autohitting and killing without the other person's permission. We will try our best not to godmod ourselves, to make everything fair, but we are the goddesses, after all.

Note, these rules apply to the OOC thread, too.

                              xxxxxxxxxx Literacy.

This is a literate to advanced roleplay. Meaning, a few paragraphs of interesting text, say, 3-4, with as little spelling and grammar mistakes as possible would be nice.
Writers' block is understandable, but it shouldn't happen every time you post.
And of course, we're not dictators, as some "advanced" roleplay rules tend to suggest. If you
make a mistake, you won't be beheaded.
                              As far as you know.

                              xxxxxxxxxx Posting.

When you post, be sure to follow the general and literacy rules listed above. Please and thank
                              you. <3
Gaia is a teenager-friendly site. So, this means keep it PG-13. No sex (time skips are wonderful things), no explicit violence.gore, no excessive swearing...You get the idea.
However, romance, drama, fighting, comedy, and all these things are definitely welcome and highly encourages. Those are what makes a story interesting!
If at all possible, make your posts pretty! Pictures, fancy fonts, and bright colors make a post
more fun to read for everyone. If you need help making a post format, we'd be glad to be of
                              assistance.
(But please don't make your text too bright. Make the fonts dark enough so we can read them without murdering our eyes, or highlighting it. Also, don't make it all cluttery. Your character's name, their picture, maybe a quote or two and perhaps an icon is fine.

                              xxxxxxxxxx Profiles.

Pretty much all you need to know about the profile is included in the code. So, please read it
as you're filling it out. There may be something in there that you missed, and would cost you
awesomeness points if we didn't find it.
Also, only Mistress Cookie Thrower and iKrazii can post in the Profile Thread. So, unless you're
one of those two people, we expect not to see your virtual footprints in there.
Please PM your profiles to one of us, and we will put them in the thread for you,
                              after we check it.
Please title your profiles "New England Clam Chowder" so we know you read the rules.

Students.xxxxxxxx

THE ORACLE. A shy but incredibly smart freshman who loves astronomy. She has a secret crush on the knight. She is a straight A student who never wants to get into any trouble. However, she is towed along by her best friend, the gatekeeper, in the eight students' exploration of the teacher's lounge.
status: open»reserved»taken: iKrazii

User Image

THE GATEKEEPER.A brash and shy freshman who has few friends. She is in several of the advanced classes, and doesn't get the best grades. She secretly harbors a crush for the prince, but always keeps such things to herself, and her best friend the oracle. She constantly beats up on the prince, in a friendly way. He doesn't know she likes him.
status: open»reserved»taken: Mistress Cookie Thrower

User Image

THE PRINCESS. The one who carries on the blood of the princess is a freshman who is not the most kind person ever. She takes humor in others' misery, but inside she is kind and caring. Her brother is the prince, and she hates him as well as most people. All she really wants is to prove to everyone she can do better. She has taken a not-so-secret crush on the shaman.
status: open»reserved»taken: Jamie14

User Image

THE "WITCH". The one who spends her life stuck in some sort of book, particularly sketchbooks. She's a freshman who is seriously interested in magic, monsters, fantasy, etc., and takes pride in her research. She only tags along with everybody else on the journey to the teacher's lounge because she has theories about what may be in there. She has a small crush on the swordsmith.
status: open»reserved»taken: LostJavaBytes

User Image

THE PRINCE. He, contrary to popular belief, is a freshman who cannot keep himself out of trouble. He's a rebel who tries every different thing to get himself in trouble, when he's really a mad-scientist type - he likes to experiment. His sister the princess is ashamed of him, but he doesn't really care. He's the one who came up with the idea of exploring the teacher's lounge. He has a small crush on the oracle.
status: open»reserved»taken:Maestro Grithok S

User Image

THE KNIGHT. If there were a good cop and a bad cop, he would be the good cop. He is a very organized, kind and justice-driven sophomore, but this is also a disadvantage, as sometimes his sense of duty is a bit off. He gets very good grades and doesn't get in trouble too terribly often, and when he does it's very minor. He has a crush on the princess, mainly because he feels she has a regal, caring side to her that waits to be revealed.
status: open»reserved»taken: 20 Shades of Crazy

THE SHAMAN. Basically the male counterpart to the "witch". He's a freshman who, in all honesty, is slightly nerdy and spends a lot of his time studying things, and in turn gets almost straight A's. He, like the knight, has quite a strong sense of justice, and does whatever's right. He sees the "witch" as a source of interest.. and of course, likes her.
status: open»reserved»taken: 20 Shades of Crazy

User Image

THE SWORDSMITH. He is the kind of guy, sophomore to be exact, that endorses himself in projects and almost always has his hand in something, be it clay or an instruction booklet. He has taken a liking to the gatekeeper, but still feels he can't get close enough to her due to the difference in their grades. He is the only other sophomore that embarks in the quest of the teacher's lounge.
status: open»reserved»taken: iRoark

User Image

Villagers.xxxxxxxx

THE SORCERESS. She is the sorcerer's partner-in-crime, spending most of her time looking for treasure, food, and bandits to explode. She is brash and short-tempered, but also crafty and intelligent.
status: open»reserved»taken: x- Silent Starr -X

User Image

THE BOUNTY HUNTER. A traveler who is almost mysterious and goes around, looking for bounty, of course. S/he is quiet and usually keeps to him/herself. Often teams up with the sorcerer/sorceress team, and the monster slayer, because s/he figures that's were the money is most.
status: open»reserved»taken: THEESTAR

User Image

THE MONSTER SLAYER. Sometimes, the monsters up in Ancient Eulanaea just refuse to stay there, and in result, there has to be someone or another to kill it. She is one of the only monster slayers in the land, but when a monster does show up, she gets paid a hefty fortune for killing it. She is very justice-driven and loud, and appears to be a bit thick-witted, but in reality is slick and crafty.
status: open»reserved»taken

User Image

THE BLACKSMITH. Much like the swordsmith, he is the kind of person who always has his hands busy. He is calm and has his head on straight, meaning he solves everything very logically. He is more of a strategical person than the swordsmith.
status: open»reserved»taken

User Image

THE SORCERER. The guy who tags along with the sorceress in their quest for food and money. He is much less outgoing than the sorceress is, and sometimes wonders why he travels with her, but then decides it's probably best in terms of wealth.
status: open»reserved»taken: iViggs

User Image

THE SCRIBE. The person who has grown up to learn to write, obviously. S/he often travels around, and her/his favorite place to visit is Lyrisor. S/he is very calm and never likes to be embarrassed in public.
status: open»reserved»taken

User Image

Monsters.xxxxxxxx

THE DRAGON. The only monster on the side of good, but is still forever banished on the ancient side out of the people's fear. nobody in modern Eulanaea likes the idea of any sort of monster on the other side of that wall, and dragons are still technically monsters. Normally takes on a human appearance when not in the Mountains of Traea.
status: open»reserved»taken: 0toku

User Image

THE SHADOWDANCER. This creature has the powers of darkness and shadows, obviously, on their side. It sometimes takes the form of a dark, misty ghost, but is normally human in apperance. It can travel through shadows of any sort, even dark spells cast in the air. Hence its name, shadowdancer. [Note: I say "it" because I refer to it as a creature. You can make yours a gender, of course.]
status: open»reserved»taken

User Image

THE DEMON. Just a demon really; an often murderous monster with thoughts of revenge on modern Eulanaea. It has been there for thousands of years, ever since the humans began to build the wall Lorhollow, but it isn't the brightest and hasn't figured out to get across yet. When that day comes, havoc will be created..
status: open»reserved»taken: iViggs

User Image

THE PHOENIX. Obviously, a bird with a connection to fire. It used to not be evil, until the monster invasion, when it was considered one and tossed over the wall, figuratively speaking. Feeling neglected and outcast, it became determined to make its way back over the wall and make the people of Eulanaea's lives a living hell. It usually is portrayed as a child, and only turns back into a bird if its temper snaps, which is often.
status: open»reserved»taken

User Image

THE CONTROLLER. Controllers are a type of dark demon, almost always portrayed as an attractive female. This evil monster tricks mainly men into its trap so it can drain the life out of them. Controllers are very dependent on others' lives, because they only live for a very short time otherwise. It aims to kill off everyone in Eulanaea so it can move on to its neighboring country, Antion, and overtake it.
status: open»reserved»taken: LostJavaBytes

User Image

THE CHIMERA. A chimera is a creature sewn together using at least three different monsters with similar attributes. It desires only to become a human again, but was cast aside to Ancient Eulanaea, because in the humans' eyes, anything inhuman is considered a monster. It has decided its goal is only revenge on the people for being so arrogant.

                Eulanaea
                            Major Kingdoms

Pénte Vasíleia (The Five Kingdoms): The five major kingdoms in the southern part of Eulanaea, famous for being built as neighbors. They consist of Lyrisor, the capital of Eulanaea; Estius, the trading kingdom; Amyraea, the smallest; Tiralaia, the biggest and most barren; Estanini, the kingdom of cooking.

Anova Vasíleio ti̱s (Anova's Kingdom): A seaside kingdom near Anova's peninsula, named after the goddess of the element water. Known best for seaside trades and the harbor near it.

Paráktia Vasíleio: Nero (Coastal Kingdom:Nero): A kingdom by the coast, connected to the element water. Known best for the fish it catches and imports to the other kingdoms.

Vasíleio ti̱s Erí̱mou:Ammos (Desert Kingdom:Ammos): A kingdom in Xandya's Desert, connected to the element fire. Known best for relieving travelers.

                            Minor Kingdoms/Cities

Lynmoor: The biggest of all the minor kingdoms, known for its practices in worship to the gods and magic.

Mapleford: A small village by the coast, built by many runaway capital-dwellers. Exports clay to Lyrisor to get its money and supplies.

Ostham: A.... city. Nothing special, has an inn for travelers and that's it.

Whitelyn: Known, like Lynmoor, for its practices in magic. Specializes in reviving old manuscripts, spellbooks, and other documents that couldn't have otherwise been preserved.

Crystalmoor: Has a crystal mine (hence the name) and a hot spring, which attracts many customers.

Faylea: Doesn't have many people living in it, because it is thought to be haunted by the monsters of old.

Fairdell: Known mainly for its care of wild creatures, horses in particular.

                            Islands and Isles

Island ti̱s Ourás Epikí̱ (Island of the Epic Tail): Island off the coast of Tiralaia, supporting mainly wildlife and a forest. No people live there.

Mesaía Isle (Middle Isle): The isle in the middle of Anova's harbor. Self-explanatory.

Paráktia Isle (Coastal Isle): An isle off the coast of Lyrisor. Again, very self-explanatory.

Isle of Maple: A small isle near Anova's Peninsula.

To Megálo Psári (The Great Fish): The famous island north of Xandya's Desert, shaped like a shark or a large fish.

Woodmoor Island: One of the twin islands, supporting a very lush forest. Theories from Estius suggest that there's a fabled "Fountain of Youth" somewhere in it, but no explorer has ever discovered it.

Itaia's Island: The second of the twin islands, named after the goddess of the element wind, Itaia.

                            Landmarks

Terrygova's Wood: A huge forest to the east of The Five Kingdoms, that hasn't been thoroughly explored thus far, out of people's fear. Named after the goddess of the element earth, Terrygova.

Anova's Great River: A river that runs Terrygova's Wood. Known for its waters having healing powers.

Terrygova's Límni (Terrygova's Lake): A lake in Terrygova's Wood, which has the same magical healing powers of Anova's Great River.

Itaia's Coast: A coast near the Ocean of Xandya, named after the goddess of the wind, because the coast is known to be gusty.

Mistcrest: A collection of mountains, plateaus, cliffs, etc. near Terrygova's Wood. The origin of Anova's Great River.

Anova's Peninsula: The peninsula in the Ocean of Anova, which has Anova's Kingodm on it. Very Anova-y.

Xandya's Desert: A desert in the middle-north-ish of Eulanaea, with Ammos in it. Named after the goddess of fire, Xandya.

Anova's Harbor: Not marked on the map, due to space constraint. Where ships from other countries come in to trade, usually with Estius and the capital.

Twin Island Harbor: Harbor made by the twin islands. Self-explanatory.

Ocean of Anova: The ocean of the southeast, said to be guarded by the goddess of the water, Anova. Again, very Anova-y.

Ocean of Xandya: The ocean of the southwest, said to be guarded by the goddess of fire, Xandya.

Woodmoor Coast: The coast south of the twin islands. Self- explanatory.

Lorhollow: The great wall separating modern Eulanaea and Ancient Eulanaea, and the area surrounding it.

                Ancient Eulanaea*
                            Major Kingdoms

Ruins of Engador: A gigantic kingdom, which used to be the capital of Eulanaea until it got destroyed by the ancient monster assault. Thus far, it's only been mapped from ancient maps of the kingdom, and not explored.

Molily Vasíleio ti̱s (Molily's Kingdom): A kingdom near Lorhollow Wood, that overlaps into the Ruins of Engador. Like the Ruins, it is vacant, perhaps except for monsters. Named after the goddess of darkness, Molily.

Ibennia: More ruins of a kingdom, which used to be the trading kingdom of Ancient Eulanaea.

                            Landmarks

Lorhollow Wood: The dark forest near Lorhollow. Many of its trees are dead, and like most of Ancient Eulanaea, it is in ruin.

Molily's Dark Wood: The dark forest west of the Mountains of Traea, rumored to be guarded by either Molily or Traea.

Harbor of Engador: The harbor of ancient Engador, in ruin. Self-explanatory.

Mountains of Traea: A huge mountain range to the north of Ancient Eulanaea, named after the goddess of the north, Traea.

Dragon's Head Peninsula: A peninsula that wraps around the Harbor of Engador, shaped like a dragon, that houses dragons.

Dragon's Cove Gulf: The body of water near Dragon's Head Peninsula. Named after Dragon's Cove before it was renamed Dragon's Head Peninsula.

Ocean of Itaia: The northeast ocean, said to be guarded by the goddess of wind, Itaia.

                Antion
                            Major Kingdoms

Tirorcya: The capital of Antion (pronounced AN-tee-on), Eulanaea's neighboring country. NOTE: Unless your character(s) has a ship, and sails there, Antion is unimportant.

*The map says Archaia Eulanaea, which just means Ancient Eulanaea, and thus I have decided to change it to un-fancy English rather than Latin.

Locations of the Gates

Gate 1: The main gate, or at least, the gate of which the students are appearing out of. Located in the depths of Terrygova's Wood, near Terrygova's Lake.

Gate 2: Located in Molily's Dark Wood, and transfers monsters from the opposing world that are not be up to any good.

Gate 3: Located in the Ruins of Engador, and frequently the things from it travel through the sea, then to To Megálo Psári, then to the mainland.

Gate 4: This gate is unfortunately located in a farmer's greenhouse, but luckily nothing but fairies and such some out of it, so it isn't a threat.

Things I just think would make roleplaying less confusing and more fun. These are not required when you start roleplaying, (well, some of it is, like the general area where your group of people starts out) but rather what would help if you get stuck on your intro post.

Students: You start out in the same school, obviously, before the prince gets the idea to investigate the teacher's lounge. The gatekeeper is the first one who thinks to look in the closet, as she obviously carries on the blood of the gatekeeper and knows where there's a gate because she's familiar with it... etc., etc. You can decide among yourself who does what first in the OOC thread if you want, but don't be afraid to step out and do something radical. Unless people will hate you for it.

Villagers: All of you will start out in Lyrisor, the capital. (see setting for the map) You can be doing whatever you want, and live in different places, but for now, you're in Lyrisor. The sorceress/sorcerer team should be wreaking their usual havoc, possibly around the marketplace area. The bounty hunter should be teamed up with the monster slayer this time around. It is up to you what you're doing, (winkface) as in slaying monsters or what. The blacksmith and the scribe are really the kind of people who would be doing errands, but I'll just leave it up to you, as always.

Monsters: You will start on the Ancient Eulanaea side of the wall, at the very beginning. You can make it across at any time, even at your intro post - just don't try to autokill people, mmkay? (Gives the villagers something to worry about, hehe.) As for your respective locations, the darker-sided monsters like the shadowdancer, the demon, and the the controller will be in Molily's Dark Wood. The chimera will most likely either be in Lorhollow Wood or the Ruins of Engador, the phoenix will be nesting in the Mountains of Traea, and the dragon will obviously be in Dragon's Head Peninsula.

Please note that this is not required. It would be preferred, but it is not the rules and will not be forced upon you in any way. Like I said before, it is only to make things less confusing and more fun in general.
