WORLD OF ETERNITY is the bestselling fantasy franchise that started as a humble, self-published book series by author E.O. Rose. From his mother’s attic, he resolutely crafted his masterpiece on an ancient typewriter, selling his original editions of the book for less than $5 per copy. He managed to hit the pulse of the cultural zeitgeist at just the right time – the fifth book in the series became an international bestseller and the world was soon swept up in WOE fever! Now 58 books in, E.O. Rose is an endless well of new, brilliant ideas. WORLD OF ETERNITY has been made into a series of hit movies, video games, and even theme parks in cities all around the globe. Look forward to the next masterpiece, coming in 2031!

It started innocently enough – someone saw their favorite WOE character wandering the streets and assumed it was a dedicated cosplayer far too invested in their role. Then there was a whole series of news stories about improv battles inspired by some of the earliest books taking place in the streets. The public was charmed, even if the owners of nearby businesses who had their buildings destroyed had a few unkind words for the over-the-top actors. Excitement turned to confusion as an individual with the exact same name as the series’ most famous antagonist suddenly showed up as the CEO of a multinational business. What’s more, the special effects seemed almost a little too real. WOE mania would have turned into a worldwide panic, but most people seemed to completely forget their worries overnight. With the exception of a tiny segment of the population who are aware that this whole situation is abnormal, most people treat these fantasy personae like beloved celebrities, hated villains, or like they’re average, otherwise unremarkable people.

Fantasy is beginning to encroach on the real world in new and dangerous ways. It is foretold that the fate of this new, combined world hinges on eight crystals suspiciously similar to the Eight Jewels of Order from the series’ first arc. The problem? No one knows where all of them are, and the fantasy inhabitants are taking sides and following new agendas. There are four factions, three of which have a crystal of their own. The only thing that all former characters seem to know is that whoever holds all of the crystals and captures the author will have the power to change the world…

As you've likely read a thousand times before, please be sure to follow Gaia’s terms of service. Violence and graphic descriptions of intimacy are to be made reasonably vague. You know the drill – just don’t write anything that would get the thread shut down. If you want things to get steamy, take it to private messages.

Respect all your co-rpers. If you have a concern or a question, it is generally better to ask your fellow writer via PM or private message first to head off problems. If you find that there is an issue that you cannot handle alone, please contact a mod. Whatever dispute is going on, please be civil. Take time to yourself if you feel overwhelmed.

Flaming is unacceptable in the OOC or chat. If you feel that there is an issue in chat or the IC that requires intervention, please immediate contact the mod (or mods).

The main mod for this rp is SatelliteOLove, and the utility account is W0E bot. PMs can be sent to either account. If the rp takes off, I may ask for a volunteer to act as a secondary mod, but I'm more than willing to go it alone if that's what it takes!

Godmodding, cybering, and one-liners are not permitted. The minimum recommendation per post is around 600 words, but you will not be penalized if time constraints or plot limitations lead to a shorter post. The max guidance is about 4000 words, but please do not constantly write novel-length posts. Ideally, you should write enough to give your rp buddies meaningful content to respond to without overwhelming them with things to react to. Plotting is a must!

Post Order: Established/published posts take priority, so be adaptable. Do not ask for post changes just to suit a future plot. Find new pathways when an old one seemingly closes.

Revisions: Edits to established posts are only required if someone moved a character without permission, the post in question conflicts with one that is already in the IC, or if there is something inconsistent or incorrect in the writing.

Post Layouts: You’re not expected to be a professional graphic artist. Post layouts only require a picture of your character and their name. Include, in text, the character’s location and any other character present. Please note, this requirement is NOT an open invitation to ignore posts, but it's easier to reference plots by knowing which players are currently together. If you need any help crafting a post layout, let SoL know.

                                                          tab ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬( Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ )▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬
Please be active in the rp and let your mods know if a project/test/work thing/family issue irl is going to keep you away for longer than a week or two. There’s no shame in being busy: real life comes first. By the same token, it is concerning when an rper drops off the map without a word. Should you need a hiatus, your character can be removed temporarily from active play until you return. You may also send your character away for good if you know it’s going to be an extended hiatus.

In an ideal world, people will post once a week, but let's be realistic. The ultimate goal is to have active rpers post every two weeks, but your main mod will not get too upset if it takes up to a month as long as you keep in touch. After the month has passed, I will give you a head’s up. If you don’t post by the end of the next week, I will move your character for you, and anyone held up will be free to post again and continue the cycle. If I have to move your character for you three times in a row, the character will be removed from the rp.

Collaborations: There are times when the best option for interacting with your fellow rpers is to collaborate in a post. With your writing powers combined, you can accelerate the flow of action or battle scenes. You may toss around ideas in chats and pms, or utilize an online service like Google Docs to write together. Please note:

No Eternal Collaborations: Collabs should be far less frequent than normal posts to give all writers equal chances to plan and interact. They should mostly be reserved for action and battle scenes to try and condense some of the action to avoid either brutally short posts or inevitable writer’s block if it drags on too long.

Be Flexible: If your partner is super stressed, you may collaborate to satisfy posting requirements and keep the story going. If this happens too many times in a row, collaborations will not be accepted.

No Dynamic Duos or Trios: We all have writers we gel with like PB&J, but don’t restrict your planning to one or two people throughout the whole rp. At the risk of sounding like a corny after-school special, be proactive and welcoming. If you see a character being left out or a writer at a loss, reach out to them first for plotting. Rps work best when there are a healthy number of writers and diverse characters.

                                                          tab tab ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬( Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ )▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬
Remember that the story will grow dull and boring if everyone already knows what’s going to happen. Small plots should be hashed out via chat or PM to keep some of the mystery going for the other writers.

If you are plotting with three or more other writers, you may use the Discord server to toss around ideas. There will be private chats on the server for groups to plot relationships and their next moves. You may also collaborate on an online document to keep ideas posted. If this plotting gets enough traction, it may be beneficial to include everyone so they can participate and be aware. Overarching plots are instigated by SoL, but there is plenty of room for numerous twists and turns along the way.

The IC will keep track of any current plot events and your mod will make a concerted effort to keep summaries and locations in one place to avoid confusion and help any new writers or people back from hiatuses catch up with minimal headaches for everyone involved.

In line with group chatting, please respect others in the chat and remember that text conversations are easily misinterpreted. If you find yourself getting angry or upset, it's better to walk away than let things escalate.

Plots with mods in private or public forums are not cannon; they are musings until they are posted in the main thread. Same deal with one-off chatplays (unless you're working on character history and you get your partner or partners' permission to make it part of their past). Not everyone wishes to join a group chat for various reasons and it would be unfair for a portion of the rpers to heavily plot in real time while others are left behind. In general, your mod would appreciate it if you wonderful rpers help by working together to make sure everyone has interesting plots going so that people don't get left behind.

Refer to the reservation/application thread for the appropriate page. Feel free to send a PM or ask a question in the application thread if you want to know more, or if you have a character idea you want to run past me.

You will have three weeks after your reservation is accepted to submit your profile and stat sheet. You may ask for a week’s extension if you find yourself falling behind. After that, your reserve will be removed, but you can always reapply if you’re still interested. Profiles and stat sheets should be in their own thread.

Note: If you find yourself lagging in creating the profile because you don't want to get character history or abilities wrong (in relation to established lore), please let me know. I'm very flexible with character history since I'd prefer you to really invest in your OC, and getting minor details off just requires a quick edit to get back on track.

This RP allows for plenty of character growth and variety beyond the blurbs for each role. Please take them and make them your own! Be aware, though, that some are required to plot with others, so be prepared to make plans on the fly with your fellow RPers. Other things to keep in mind:

Character Limit: You may have one or two characters to start, with a max of three if you keep up posting once the rp has started. If you do not keep up with your posting, the mod will ask for a character hiatus. During the hiatus, the character in question is temporarily removed from the story to allow the writer to keep up with their primary character. If you sideline a character three times in three months, one character will automatically be removed from the story.

Logical Consistency: aka we love fab characters, but please keep things reasonable. No character will hit every time or magically know every aspect of another character's history from the start of the story (with the notable exception of the SUPERFAN). In a similar vein, if you are writing for a powerful character, don't expect him or her to steamroll the competition and win every battle. Be measured - the stronger the character, the more profound their struggle.

"Canon" Relationships and Behaviors: By that, I mean relationships and attitudes that are established in the novels that serve as character history in the RP. I have intentionally put in a few instances in the roles where the character rejects the actions and motivations that the author originally gave them in the books. Essentially, these are fictional characters who now have free will. Some will take to it and assert their newfound humanity, while others want to cling to their established personae like a safety blanket. Please keep in mind that your character is not required to strictly adhere to the role in the novels. Explore their newfound freedom to its fullest. Because there is no sex, gender, or sexuality attached to the roles, they can be whatever you want. That also holds true for characters with literary lovers participating in the story.

For more information, please see the lore thread:

Null is a collective of WOE citizens who originally did not wish to take part in the battle to find the crystals. After seeing the havoc afflicting the world on both magical and non-magical creatures, the founders decided to try and gather the crystals and get rid of the root problem - magical power. This goal has led to a new partnership between the WOE members of Null and humans who just want the madness to stop. Null's structure is more democratic than other factions, and they elected their leader via vote rather than simply volunteering.

GOAL:: To remove magic from the world, regardless of what happens to WOE inhabitants.

A somewhat garden-variety hero who came from humble beginnings and ended up as the reigning monarch over the human kingdom, as was his/her birthright. A force for good that finds him/herself in the real world and suddenly without the support and reverence that he/she had in their comfortable world.

Requirements: N/A, sexuality can be different from his/her novel counterpart. Current plotting flags this character as male

He/she was the childhood friend of the first hero and ended up the predictable love interest and supporting character for epic adventures. He/she didn’t have much depth to their personality and got used as a plot device more than a few times. In the real world, he/she finds that there is ZERO chemistry between him/her and the hero. As a matter of fact, taking over the world doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea…

Requirements: Character doesn’t necessarily have to be a full villain, but finds his/herself attracted to danger and moral ambiguity. Sexuality of this character can be different from their novel counterpart.

The former childhood friend of the hero who ended up betraying him/her, being welcomed back with open arms, and then betraying him/her again to be on the side of the evil overlord. Died a hero’s death saving the first hero and love interest from the evil overlord’s machinations. Now the quadruple traitor finds his/herself working with the author to get to the bottom of this whole reality-warping mess.

Requirements: N/A, but this rper should ideally have time for plotting since this character works with the author and will help move the larger plot. Required to join Briar.

Requirements: The ability to evil laugh on cue. The antihero is hands-down the most popular WOE character. His/her face has even been on children’s lunchboxes. Treated as a celebrity by the public at-large, the antihero's presence on any team would bring significant clout.

Served as a far worse character to root against than the antihero and died a complex, satisfying death in the end. Has seemingly no idea that they are in an entirely new world.

Defied all odds by not dying at the end of the book. Instead, the betrayer walked away from the whole mess, getting away with the treasure and leaving the antihero to chase him/her for another three books. His/her personality hasn’t changed much in the transition, as he/she is still quite selfish. Heads up a major conglomerate and will bleed this new world for all it’s worth.

Being shoved in the fridge has really pissed him/her off and he/she has a bone to pick with the author and would do anything to see him/her dead.

He/she worked as an assassin for the council of Gricia, though their job ended up being more about settling personal grudges for wealthy and well-connected nobles than helping the country prosper. He/she was approached by the CONSCIENCE about killing the MEGALOMANIAC and agreed for the money and the notion of doing something more challenging than killing nuisances. He/she becomes close with his/her companions, especially the CONSCIENCE and eventually chooses to do the right thing by ending the CONSCIENCE's puppet rule over Gricia. In the new world, he/she is unsure of the best course of action, especially because he/she is still so morally flexible.

He/she schemed to take over leadership over Gricia for the influence it would bring, but was always distracted by more immediate desires and priorities. Though the journey allowed the DEGENERATE to show some personal growth, in the end he/she returned to a life of decadence, giving up the desire for power in favor of helping the ECCENTRIC behind the scenes. With the knowledge that all of that was fictional, the DEGENERATE is more interested in a good time than again meddling in powerful forces he/she doesn't understand.

He/she was always more interested in adventure and discovery than the boring responsibility of ruling a nation. The ECCENTRIC was the heir apparent to the position of Duke/Duchess and head of the five ruling families, and though he/she tried to avoid it, they ended up wearing the leader's mantle. In the new world, he/she is ecstatic to avoid the stress of leadership.

                                                                        Requirements: Holdover ADHD and curiosity.

                                                                        THE CONSCIENCE
The kindly, wise, universally loved advisor to countless Dukes and Duchesses from the five families ruling Gricia over the years. He/she always had good intentions, but as time wore on, became too set in their ways and thought that only they were capable of defending Gricia and seeing the proud nation prosper. In the new world, he/she has not appeared to change this line of thinking, and he/she still prioritizes duty over settling old grudges.

Requirements: Self-righteous desire to fix what he/she broke last time, regardless of who gets hurt.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image

The big baddie from the book, but he/she ended up being more of a plot device than the major antagonist. He/she felt they were destined to rule the world, but his/her desire to make foolhardy gambles alone ultimately led to his/her downfall. In the new world, he/she still finds it hard to shake the desire to rule the world, but he/she is now aware there are multiple ways to do that and value in having some companions (lackeys) to have your back.

                                                                        Requirements: Nix.

                                                                  User Image

                                                                        THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL HERO
Was a stupid, paper-thin hero who loved everything and everyone. Made for an incredibly boring experience. Upon entering the new reality, he/she found negative, unusual emotions encroaching on his/her former euphoria. He/she must decide to follow their proscribed inclination to do good or give in to the vast temptation of negative emotion.

                                                                        Requirements: Sudden character depth.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image
                                                                        THE ANNOYING SIDEKICK
A poor choice to accompany the all-loving hero. He/she spoke with an annoying tic in addition to constantly complaining about how awful everyone and everything was along the journey. Was killed in a later book after suddenly turning evil, much to fan pleasure. Is something of a hated celebrity in the new reality, though he tries to avoid the attention lest he fully indulge his pathological need for attention.

Requirements: Basking in the hate (it makes them stronger).

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image

A close companion of the one-dimensional hero, who gave his/her life to save the world, putting forth a tragedy near the end of the book that affected no one because there was no emotional investment in any of these characters. In the new reality, wants to make the most out of his/her new life.

Requirements: Wonder for the new world, a healthy fear of death.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image
                                                                        THE INSANE VILLAIN
The heroes weren’t the only characters to fall flat, the villain was so insane that their motivations were incomprehensible to readers, and not in a good way. Is anonymous in the new reality, but he/she is on medication for their untreated depression and sincerely wants to concentrate on self-improvement.

Requirements: Mental health guru. Recommended joining Briar or Null.

                                                                        THE FORGOTTEN ACCOMPLICE
He or she was a close ally of the insane villain, and this character was unfortunately forgotten halfway through Emrys Rose's magnum dopus. The novel was so rushed to publishing that he/she was left in a couple of early scenes and mentions, only to drop off halfway through the book. In the new world, he/she wants to make up for lost time and have a chance to be truly memorable.

Requirements: AUDAX. A desire to conquer.

He/she came from a humble background straight out of a classic Disney movie – pastoral fields with nothing but kind faces and genteel affection. He/she was unexpectedly ripped from his/her sweet reverie by their encounter with the CYNIC and found him/herself suddenly expected to cope with turmoil and new allies just as poisonous as their foes. In the end, he/she was able to find a place in the high-stakes court the CYNIC originally wanted to be part of. In the real world, he/she initially seeks to return to a kinder, simpler time now that they are back in their original body.

Requirements: Human (though “ingenue” is a gendered word, this character can also be a man).

He/she is older and entirely more jaded than the subject of their soul swap. He/she held a high position in their far more urban, cutthroat society and was barely hanging onto power. He/she is initially delighted by the ability to use the INGENUE’s innocent reputation to do what he/she likes, but the lull of power and worry end up setting him/her on the journey to fix what went wrong and restore his/her faith in certain people. In the real world, he/she still has a taste for power, but has learned his/her lesson not to be too greedy.

                                                                        Fate: To Be Determined

The foil to the CYNIC and his/her battle for power. He/she has been in the CYNIC’s path every step of their rise to power and he/she was the first to realize that the INGENUE was in the CYNIC’s body. He/she attempted to use this to his/her advantage, nearly sabotaging the CYNIC’s reputation and getting the INGENUE killed, but the heroes prevail in the end, relegating the NEMESIS to obscurity and menial labor. In this new reality, he/she wants the power that he/she was denied.

Requirements: Any species but Sylvan or Heide. AUDAX faction.

Is the first person to open up to the CYNIC when he/she swaps with the INGENUE and helps the two heroes on their journey to restore their real selves. In the real world, he/she is disturbed by the actions of his/her WOE compatriots, and he/she wants the madness to stop.

Was the first Abyssal King, and he/she is tasked with uniting the Iaran people and ensuring their safety against the notably harsh conditions under the waves and against the more profound threats from above. He/she lived and died with no regrets after having accomplished so much, and he/she looks upon the chance to live again with more than a little trepidation. Not only is the USURPER now aware of how the Iarans have changed for the better and worse over the years, but the former monarch also has the opportunity to reunite with his/her old companions.

Requirements: Iaran (Male preferred based on Iaran cultural norms.)

Called so not because of a lack of intellect but for his/her uncompromising nature, the BRUTE was shunned by both creatures of the sea and land from a young age and called an abomination. He/she sought to carve out a place in the world and managed to do so, albeit with the blood of their first true friend, the TORMENTOR, on his/her hands. Upon living again, the BRUTE has a chance to live and mingle in a world of seemingly endless possibilities. The opportunity brings delight as well as a surprising amount of guilt.

Requirements: Iaran Hybrid (the other half is writer’s choice)

He/she lived a charmed life, to the point that they felt nearly invincible. The FORTUNE HUNTER went down in history as a trailblazer and wishes to continue that work in this new reality. Though the old ways of adventuring are gone, technology and magical promise bring a new life to his/her passions and they are determined to pursue excitement and fortune again…while avoiding old companions. The FORTUNE HUNTER would prefer to make his/her own reality and keep the good times rolling (as well as the various new forms of currency, please and thank you).

Requirements: Non-Iaran (Sylvan or Heide would be unlikely).

He/she was enthralled by stories and the promise of new, engaging experiences. The SENTIMENTAL finds his/her place in popular fiction absolutely delightful and among his/her pursuits in the new world, seems absolutely dead set on forcing the AUTHOR to pen new adventures and possibilities for him/her to live out, as well as new companions to make the world even more fascinating and worthy of the emotional highs and lows of exploration.

Requirements: Non-Iaran (Any other species). Obsession with making Emrys write (in opposition to every other WOE character out there)

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image
                                                                        THE TORMENTOR
The TORMENTOR came from humble beginnings, and while he/she paved the way for Iarans to live freely, he/she never actually got to see it come to pass. The form that the ocean-dwellers took in subsequent generations were entirely against the TORMENTOR’s idea of what would make the species truly thrive, and so he/she eventually gleefully took to their duty to weed out only the strongest Iarans in a bid to have them race to their own demise. In the real world, he/she masquerades as a Saga human with a water-thin magical bloodline. Whether or not he/she is simply enjoying their new freedom or wishes to seek revenge against his/her one-time companions remains to be seen.

                                                                        Requirements: N/A

A hated villain from one of the past books, turned into a hero for the unexpected reinvigorating entry for the series. He/she seemed completely incapable of turning around, but becoming the protagonist of his/her own story not only saved the series, but made for an excellent heroic arc. Wants to help the author’s faction get to the bottom of this mess.

                                                                        Requirements: Joining Briar.

In the new reality, he/she continues his/her mission, and this time is determined to succeed.

The person who ultimately profits off the bad actions of the villain in this story. He/she has something personal to gain from uprooting the current system and serves as a way to continue pushing the villain past the point of no return.

                                                                        Requirements: N/A.

The reason the reformed hero decided to go on his/her heroic journey to begin with. He/she was a very minor character in the book and met a grisly end before the seventh chapter. But he/she has a renewed purpose in the real world: he/she gets glimpses of tragedies on the horizon and can help the heroic-minded participants head off danger and try and get the world back in order.

Requirements: Plot-important character, requiring regular posting.

He/she came from an influential family and fully believed in the cause. It was only when he/she was betrayed did they realize that the world is not as stark and simple as they always thought. In this new reality, he/she wants to reunited with their companions for another adventure, even if the others do not feel the same way.

Requirements: Idealistic tendencies. Either an Iara, Gogga, or a hybrid of one of those two.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image

This character got in over his/her head from the start and made big promises to the IDEALIST that they could keep him/her out of trouble. Though they are the life of the party, the HOTSHOT has gotten the foursome into countless jams. In this new world, he/she is disgusted by the lack of attention they are getting from the public, especially because the villains of other stories are so popular in comparison.

Fate: Sacrificed herself to save her friends.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image
                                                                        THE PRETENDER
Everything about this particular hero was fake, which turned out to be an asset among his/her new and unusual friends when they needed a disguise and to BS their way out of conflict. One might say that the friendships forged during the course of the novel were the truest this character has ever been to him/herself. In the real world, he/she is reluctant to join the battle and is unsure what to believe.

Requirements: Doesn’t want to reconnect with previous friends, despite lingering feelings.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image
                                                                        THE OUTLAW
He/she worked for the Gogga during the big battle for money, and nothing more. He/she just happened to help THE IDEALIST and HOTSHOT by coincidence and never thought that he/she would be caught up in a journey to find the real traitor. In the new world, he/she is bemused by their sudden celebrity status, especially since he/she is no longer permanently on the run.

                                                                        Requirements: Debonair Tendencies.

tab tab tab tab tab tab tab User Image

He/she orchestrated the "betrayal" of the IDEALIST, leading to the main plot arc in the novel. He/she was more interested in the end rather than the means, and did not expect that their gamble would blow up in their face, leading to their intelligence working against them as they ultimately fell into the friendly quartet's trap. In the new world, he/she must wrestle with the moral complexities of this new world.

                                                                        Requirements: N/A.

                                                                        THE DUELIST
He/she grew up deeply in poverty and though they started out with the noble intentions of helping their loved ones survive another day, honest work became harder and harder to come by. Diamonds didn’t just drop out of the sky, so he/she eventually turned to fighting. When The Gambit began, he/she was given the moniker of DUELIST 169, and so began a struggle that became highlighted not by the need to survive, but to see if he/she was really the best fighter in Ceria. Unfortunately, he/she was destroyed along with the rest of the city before he/she got to fight The End. In the real world, he/she makes sense of this newfound chaos by continuing his/her mission to fell the strongest opponent.

Requirements: N/A. Ceria’s citizens can have a number of bloodlines from existing species, so there’s a lot of freedom in terms of face claims and species strengths/weaknesses.

He/she was afforded some luxuries that the poorest of the poor lacked – he/she learned to read, was able to make a living, and was naturally inclined toward hope rather than despair. He/she was pragmatic enough to know that pacifism was not the way to save Ceria, but he/she was far more compassionate than the other players, choosing to incapacitate rather than outright murder his/her opponents in The Gambit. During the last phase of The Gambit, he/she struck an alliance with The End, but was abandoned in his/her time of need. Sadly, he/she was cut down in a standoff with The Vigilante, leaving the final showdown between The Duelist and the End. In reality, he/she finds his/her prior idealism too naïve for the complex world at war in reality, but still seeks to attain some form of peace.

Requirements: Any faction but AUDAX. Ceria’s citizens can have a number of bloodlines from existing species, so there’s a lot of freedom in terms of face claims and species strengths/weaknesses.

He/she was born to wealth and power but was cast out of the luxuriant towers of Ceria’s wealthy due to a youthful mistake. He/she spent the rest of their formative years experiencing the worst of poverty and realized that the system needed to be shaken up and the weak only needed a push to be able to enact justice on those who wronged them. He/she sought to end The Duelist’s rise among the ranks but was ultimately defeated. During The Gambit, he/she found a rival in the Peacemaker and the two ended up killing one another shortly before Ceria was eradicated. In the real world, he/she sees many of the same problems as in Ceria and thinks that the crystals as a way to correct societal wrongs at any cost.

Requirements: N/A. Ceria’s citizens can have a number of bloodlines from existing species, so there’s a lot of freedom in terms of face claims and species strengths/weaknesses.

He/she was at the pinnacle of Ceria’s doomed civilization and felt every ounce of despair and pointlessness of his/her own existence from a young age. Well educated, powerful, and eternally bored, The End’s nihilism spurred his/her participation in The Gambit. There, he/she rose among the ranks of fighters with ease. He/she was uninterested in victory or defeat, instead choosing to forego the final battle in favor of sacrificing his/her life to blow up the city’s lifeline, destroying Ceria and all who lived there. In the real world, The End is fascinated by the abundance of resources available to the people of Earth, though he/she thinks that they are quickly headed down the path of destruction that led to Ceria’s downfall. Now the question is what should the End do about it?

Reserved Requirements: N/A. Ceria’s citizens can have a number of bloodlines from existing species, so there’s a lot of freedom in terms of face claims and species strengths/weaknesses.

Calixte's motives are shrouded in mystery, but he appears willing and able to influence the game of gathering crystals and pushing the author toward a decision.

Rose started from humble beginnings, and has dedicated his entire life to writing fiction for entertainment. He's lived like a hermit for the past fifteen years, and the sudden emergence of characters and the world he created in reality has reluctantly spurred him to action.

The "crystals" seem to have a loose connection to the Eight Jewels of Order from WOE's original trilogy. As opposed to their novel counterparts, the crystals' appearances vary in the real world, making them that much harder to find.

The Crystals each have three "attributes" attached to them, and if someone generally possess at least one of the three, they are able to use it to some extent.

Level 1: Single Attribute: A whisper of the crystal's power, that allows them to activate it and use a less powerful version of its ability for a limited time. The side effect/drawback for use will not be as intense, but it will kick in more quickly.

Level 2: Two Attributes: The crystal's abilities are more formidable and pronounced, and it takes a little longer for the drawback to set in.

Level 3: All Attributes: The user fully unlocks the crystal's ability and can use it as long as they can stand the drawbacks/effects.

What they lack in mysticism, humans more than make up for in sheer numbers and collective ingenuity. They have cyclically been under the thumb of other species over the series, but there is always a strong human presence in WOE.

Magic inheritance in humans is purely matrilineal – even if it is a far off-relation that shows itself in a later generation, it must come from the mother’s side. Consequently, the most famous mages have almost always been women. Sāga is an incredibly antiquated term, so only beings from WOE’s earliest timeline, or snotty, scholarly individuals would use it regularly. Common alternative words include mage, witch, sorcerer, etc.

They have a steady truce with the humans, and have enjoyed numerous periods of prosperity. Iara are natural enemies of both Avian species, but they are in a seemingly eternal conflict with the Gogga. Due to the immense pressure in their natural habitat, they are incredibly strong, hardy individuals. Only those with the ocean's blessing have the ability to morph their bodies to be able to walk on land.

They have extensively cross-bred with humans over the years, so the level of resemblance to their avian ancestors has thinned. They are natural enemies of the Iara, and many Plumarians prefer to keep their distance from the waves.

The notion of the Plumerians and the Gogga descending from the same being is considered an insult among the insect species, but they have an uneasy truce due to a mutual dislike for ocean-bound creatures. The Gogga regularly go to war against the Iara and, in general, have little to do with humans.

They live longer and are far fewer in number than the other races, and highly prize independence and solitude. The Nix have an unhealthy disregard for all the more populous races, preferring temporary alliances with the Gogga or the elusive Heide.

Sylvan are culturally pacifists and stay outside of most conflicts. They are incredibly rare, especially in later eras in WOE's timeline. Every Sylvan has an oath they must take on the Austra to attain magical power, and should they violate it, they become Heide.

If a Sylvan breaks his or her oath to Austra, they become twisted and monstrous, cursed to live away from the sun, lest their skin harden and eventually turn them into a tree that bears poisonous fruit. The Heide are obviously nocturnal creatures and live (individually or in small groups) underground. They are the originators of the dark arts, and worship a shadowy, corrupted version of the cosmic tree in the name of spiritual balance.

If the transition between WOE and world is in progress, the site is considered corrupted. Places where the joining was not seamless should be avoided by all but the hardiest of WOE denizens.

                                                                        F U L L Y || E N C R O A C H E D

These places are stable since the transition is complete (or added to the landscape of the real planet, as has been the case in several places). These sites will act as they usually do in the WOE universe.

                                                                        User Image
Ilmarinen Veins: In the mythology passed down by Sāga humans, Ilmarinen was a mighty god, said to have fallen in love with a star (Oimia), merging together with the luminescence to become the planet itself. Thus “Ilmarinen Veins” are thought to be the paths that his blood flowed, and have eternal magical properties that lead to speedy travel when infused with mana from Vein Engineers

Veins have hidden "hubs" (many underground where applicable or else hidden in small shops and abandoned buildings) where the Engineers do their work sending travelers around the world. The Vein Engineers are a unique subspecies of Plumarian and Human origin that have been raised specifically to harness the power of the Veins (most engineers are born within a hub, infusing them with Illmarinen energy). Some will take gold, trinkets, or favors for payment to use their hub. The price depends on how far they are sending the traveler, and the number of travelers going. Zipping across the world is both costly and will generally cause nausea and fainting once the traveler emerges on the other side after a longer journey (going From Briar to Null HQ would feel like about 20 minutes. Across the continental US would take 5).

Violence against a Vein Engineer will cause their Manager to immediately issue a black mark against the traveler, and they shall never be allowed to use the Veins again (it's a common joke among humans that the Manager is even more powerful than world leaders). As one could expect, the wealthy and well-connected use Veins regularly, while the poor must use slower, more traditional means of travel.

Through their own informants and connections, both Briar and Null received information that famous media mogul and weapons’ collector, Thomas Kelly, had come across one of the crystals and was guarding it at his New York home. Emrys and Zaire arranged for a meeting with the man himself (with Falael along for the ride as backup), while Null leader Chrysanthenile, her old friend Cyranean, and another former WOE villain approached more surreptitiously. Infiltration became impossible when Merin decided to go her own way and remove herself from the factions, leaving Chrys and Cy wanting to take a “wait and see” approach.

Thomas was immediately suspicious of Emrys’ intentions, and their tense conversation broke down when it was apparent that the supernatural influence of the Onyx crystal had the other man ready and able to kill to hold onto his shard of WOE-related power. He transformed the onyx crystal into a large weapon and chaos ensued, shaking the foundations of the house and drawing the attention of detective Luna Quinn, who arrived on the scene but was injured by the collapsing building. Falael rescued Luna from the wreckage and the group made their way to ground floor where the collapse separated Fal from Emrys, Zaire, and Elathan. Falael got out with the remaining uninjured staff from inside the mansion, leaving the author and his bodyguard to face the Null infiltrators alone. Not wanting to create a scene or lead to more death and injury, Emrys agreed to surrender the crystal without a fight, and both factions walked away intact.

Arseni, the leader of Rishima, unexpectedly received a letter ostensibly from “the author” offering to make amends if he’d meet him at the Grand Canyon in a few days’ time. Arseni immediately jetted off to Arizona without letting his friend and second in command, Cybele know, though he did discard the invitation at Rishima HQ. Sensing the obvious trap, she passed along a message to Eli and ran off after him, hoping to stop the man before he got himself hurt.

Meanwhile the leader of Briar, Jayce, brought along Marbellis and Asri’ith to observe the Rishima faction and potentially distract them to ensure that Emrys, Zaire, and Fal were able to secure the onyx crystal. The setup was understandably awkward with the unsettled distance between Jayce and Marbellis, and the hero’s emotions raged on with the appearance of his enemy, Cybele. What might have been an epic battle between the two factions turned into an unexpected fight against the possessed bones of a Dragon in the part of the canyon that had merged with WOE’s world. The group worked together to scatter the bones and disperse the odd energy and, out of respect for their shared struggle, both sides left without bloodshed.

They found themselves at Rosen island – a magical island from WOE now located in Earth’s Bermuda Triangle. There, Phae and her friends ran into an old teacher and sage magician – Is’Dari. The plumarian woman in question was uninterested in providing direct help to any one of the WOE factions in search of the crystals, but she trusted Phae’s good nature enough to give her a few items that she could use to glean hints. Though she warned that they are not all necessarily about the crystals, they may help the members of Rishima unravel some of the mysteries of this odd new world. The first was a string of pearls leading to a cryptic message related to rare jewelry coveted by rich, influential individuals.

Izzy gets a phone number for Null from fans. With Chrys and Cy out on a mission, Syd answers the phone and invites the two to Null headquarters in Kowloon walled city, telling them she is the leader of team Null.

Izzy and Nyza arrive, unaware that they are being observed by two cosplayers who have been convinced that they will be able to cast spells with the body parts of different WOE races, and who have hired a bunch of yakuza to attack Null headquarters.

Inside, they are greeted by Syd and Aeth. They are just past introductions when the cosplayers and their minions attack, quickly subduing the small number of guards at the entrance to Null headquarters. The fight brings the Iarain Bry, who was resting deeper in Null headquarters, to the fray, and between the five of them they manage to kill or disable the yakuza streaming into the building.

When they question the cosplayers, they discover someone has produced a number of fake videos to convince gullible people to attack non-humans from the WOE universe. Nyza has her doubts about Null, but Izzy convinces her that they need to band together until the find out who is behind the add campaign, and they join team Null.

Though members from Luxembourg's local historical society came demanding Joshua Fischer turn over the palace they are using as HQ back to the government, the threat of his predatory lawyers have scared off the seemingly mundane threat for now.

Briar’s leader, Jayce, remains at headquarters after wishing his companions well on their way to London. Feeling doubts about his place in relation to estranged spouse Marbellis as well as the interaction with his former nemesis, Cybele, he has a psychic conversation with the affectionate Wynn about these doubts. She agrees with the complexity of the situation they find themselves navigating but that there is meaning in second chances and they have the opportunity for a new shot at their lives, to include prioritizing their prized relationships anew.

                                                          Null || Insomnia
Though the faction made a lot of headway in the week following their headquarters’ break-in by rabid WOE cultists, there is still work to be done. In the relative quiet of the night and with fewer members in their sprawling headquarters, Aeth wakes from a nightmare and decides her time is better spent working on repairs. Cyraenan comes upon her in search of answers as to why she would be working late into the night, but her worried demeanor draws them instead into a conversation. Aeth shares her doubts about thriving in this new world and the significant changes that required adjustment and Cyraenan agrees that they have all had to adjust and must make their own meaning until they inevitably disappear. Though their species and former alliances would have put them at odds, the pair find that they have changed enough to be allies. Deva is awakened by her totem, and goes to find the Iaran and Plumarian amidst their discussion. Though there is some tension between Deva and Cyraenan as the Iaran is not sure that he can fully trust the hybrid outlaw, Aeth reiterates their need to band together in trying times and the three come to an uneasy understanding, though with Cy determined to watch Deva to ensure she is not scheming in the darkness.

Rishima + Null || WOEcon California
Both Null and Rishima follow up on different leads that put the groups squarely in the path of rabid WOE fans who seek to gain power via sacrificing the series’ characters. The Null group arrives after a harrowing American roadtrip under the leadership of Chrys. Along for the ride are Syd, Brykhon, Izzy, and Nyza. After the destruction wrought upon their headquarters, all signs pointed to more sacrifices at the convention. As for Cali-based Rishima, several of their members have gone missing in recent weeks and their leader, Arseni, plans to find them via his own abduction. His backup includes his second-in-command, Cybele, Chiyumi, and Kona.

At the convention, newly-minted Null influencer Izzy runs into Cybele, disguised as herself getting ready for a Cybele contest, and two mark each other as legitimate WOE citizens. They are after the same goal, and agree to work together fore the foreseeable future. The other members of their two factions wander the events, some more hilariously disguised than others. As Syd and Chrys arrive, the Null leader heads off on a discovery mission on her own while Syd joins Nyza and Bry so that they can begin their infiltration.

On the Rishima end, with Arseni silent a concerningly long amount of time, Kona goes to find him, only to discover that the plumarian is getting nowhere both in terms of escape and rescuing their friends. The two work together to subdue his captor and make their own way to the spacious passages below what was a seemingly average community college campus. The two forces meet below, and chaos ensues.

The reinforcements from the con’s security have advanced weaponry, and Syd elects to sacrifice herself so that her companions, new and old, can make it out alive. Kona is separated from Rishima and mourns the loss of his friend as he heads off with the Null group, who have more problems than Syd’s unfortunate demise as it seems that their ever-reliable leader has gone missing.

The event ends with news vans and emergency services, as the fighting below ground leads to presumptions of terrorism. Rishima’s members manage to make it out relatively unscathed and with more to celebrate than their friendly faction: Cybele manages to bring both a seemingly comatose Iaran and a Sylvan who claims to be his friend into Rishima’s fold. Even Arseni finds success. On his way out of the building, he intercepts a Heide who had been held captive by the rabid WOE fans in preparation for sacrifice. Though he drops off the guards who had been holding his friends captive to be found by the human police, he escapes with any WOE characters who will come along, including the Heide.

The data that Null gathered from the mercenary security points to, of all things, an offshoot of Wonder Media headquartered in New York – Noir Cinema. Why a small media company has been inciting rabid WOE fans to commit murder is anyone’s guess, but it’s another major link in whatever plot they are unraveling. Over the subsequent weeks, a few WOE characters have been seen around the company’s headquarters, leading the other factions to take notice.

Briar, AUDAX + Rishima || Roman Holiday
A lead on mysterious jewels has most of the factions clamoring to get access to an exclusive auction at the St. Regis hotel in Rome. Briar’s representatives included Falael and Asri’ith. Luna, their uneasy human ally, joined to try and delve deeper into this bizarre world that seemingly only she was having a difficult time accepting. Rishima’s Pasiphaë divined the path toward the next crystal on her own and brought along Elijah as backup. AUDAX rounded out the last of the factions to attend, as Joshua used his wealthy socialite connections to secure invitations for himself, Kilyn, and the “gunshy” Atticus.

Phae and Elijah are the first to arrive at the party and the young prophet finds herself victim to her visions and overall unease with the event. The biggest issue is not finding a lead for the crystal itself, but the impending sense that a certain redhead would find himself at odds with a dark, murderous figure with little regard for anything but his revenge. Elijah reacts with trepidation and joy with the knowledge he could soon find himself reuniting with his old friend and a despised foe.

Phae is the first to run into Atticus and her offhand comment about his failure to find the “redhead” he was looking for leads the dangerous Nix to focus his energies entirely on her. Though Phae does not relent to his threats against her life, there is little she can do to stop his fury aside from offering him information he might need to secure his revenge. Their conversation is interrupted with the late arrival of Falael, who opens a portal in the ceiling and distracts Atticus long enough for the prophet to get away. The two foes begin to fight, striking a terrible balance of human and property damage as Atticus does whatever he can to try and kill Falael and the WOE hero prioritizes keeping others alive and allowing his companions to escape.

Rich, influential people getting crushed under rubble or killed by a madman would certainly not stand, and both local security forces and police are called as backup, adding to the chaos as humans and WOE characters alike try to plan their exits. AUDAX finds themselves with the bigger issue, as Atty relentlessly pursues his target. Once the Briar and Rishima allies have safely escaped, Fal teleports out of Atticus’ reach and only then is Kilyn able to calm him down enough for the three to escape. Josh uses his connections to keep them out of any news stories, and each auction attendee escapes into the night. In the two weeks that follow, Luna agrees to help Briar follow the same trail, while Rishima’s Phae has another vision. All lead to the same place – Calivigny Private Island.
