[] »» That’s Not My Name, Ting Tings; Ophelia Christina Schäfer
[] »» Friend of Mine, Lily Allen; She’s gotten Ophie and Lia- and their many spelling variants- in her lifetime.
[] »» Fallin, Alicia Keys; Homosexual, if you please.
[] »» Our Time Now, Plain White T’s; Seventeen and loving it- but she won’t stay that way too long, so catch her before August 22, when she's legal, baby!
[] »» Painfully Obvious, Lauren Fairweather; Female, thanks. Honestly, how could Ophelia be anything else? Emotional, yes, but anyone could be like that. What she really prefers is being dominant while still being submissive: seeming exceptionally bright and sunny when it was really the people around her were excessively mopey. Due to this, she constantly compares herself to others. One might think that this is an unfortunate, self-doubt-causing kind of behaviour, but she's not clinically depressed, nor is she stereotypically attention-seeking. Ophelia prefers her full, real name to those few short nicknames because she feels that the less people shorten your name, the less likely they are to shorten their friendship. However, those close to her are free to call her whatever they want. As long as it’s not ‘asscracker.’

Regarding Ophelia's sexuality, in reality she's been toying with it since age thirteen. Girls have that gentleness and elegance that boys never actually achieve, not that they try. Plus, she ends up being closer to the females as friends before thinking of them….that way. Boys have that annoying arrogance that never goes away, no matter how old they grow, which is a definite turnoff. That isn't to say that confidence isn't a turn-on, though- quite the opposite. Sometimes she needs a little boost, and the proud ones are always there to offer it to her. That's pretty lucky, considering most of her friends would usually just leave her to her devices- which actually could be quite dangerous at times.

Ophelia is the second-born child in a family of four, and takes after neither her father nor her mother in personality, rather being subconsciously influenced by her older sister. She strives to be the best at everything and anything she does, but it’s not obvious straight away. She takes time out of her personal life (or, sometimes, lack thereof) to make sure she does the very best possible.

She takes her life very seriously, seeking authenticity in her relationships with others. She looks for friends that understand her and look for more than a pretty face and a good snog. In her experience, she’s gotten along better with boys than girls because girls tend to want to talk about their feelings and keep grudges, whereas males fight externally, so she never had to try to hide her real feelings- because honestly, the guys didn’t care. However, she was most often seen in the presence of girls because they understood things better, and were better talkers, not because of the semiobvious reasons. Ophelia hadn't found boys to be the best 'species' off which to bounce new ideas, so girls it was.

Ophelia hates the spotlight, but also hates being totally ignored. She would rather be the director than be onstage or in the audience. She’s an extreme ambitious, and a hardcore atheist. Books are her vice, and where she learns most of her outlandish ideas. Around the time when she entered the seventh grade, she began to show a small streak of self-importance, and back-talk to the teachers began to become a regular occurrence. She takes her studies very seriously, however, and is top in everything. The funny thing, though, is that she doesn't care about it at all.

[] »» Homecoming, Kanye West; Living in the neighbourhood they did, there was a wide real estate market open for business when Honorine was pregnant with Ophelia. Rollicking hills and lush valets decorated the landscape when she was conceived. However, Leon, Honorine, and six-year-old Hannah moved into a contemporary two-story apartment with an out-of-place turret and a solid cast-iron fence surrounding the perimeter. The plot of land isn't much to work with, giving no room for Honorine’s old fondness planting various flowers and other plants.

Ophelia's room is the uppermost room, in the turret, which she is extremely fond of. Its walls are made up nearly entirely of windows, except one cork panel, which takes away the need for wallpaper maintenance. The master suite is on the first floor, as is the tiny-hidden laundry room. The second floor includes the kitchen, guest room, and private bathroom. Mice come and go as they please in the attic, as Ophelia, Leon, and Honorine have little need for it, and Hannah no longer lives in the area.

Her father is Leon Schäfer, age 46. A quiet man, Leon dislikes conflict or dysfunction, instead preferring peace and order. When complications arise, he prefers to stay out of it rather than work it all out. However, he cares deeply for both of his daughters, no one outshining the other in his eyes. Although he is a tad disconnected, both his daughters love him very much. He really hasn't a clue what to do with Ophelia, but she respects him, which is a good thing in Leon's eyes. He has become a slow-moving man due to never needing to be active, as he rarely sees either of his daughters anymore.

Honorine Yvonne Schäfer, nee Feret, 44 and still stunning. Her statuesque figure is the reason Hannah and Ophelia turned out so well- looks-wise, anyway. It’s also the reason why she never worked a day in her life. She is more likely to kick up a fuss about one grain of rice than do something about her sloth. In life, Honorine had everything handed to her on a silver platter, including her marriage. Pregnancy suited her, and her figure is still amazing after two children. She never worried about anyone other than herself, excepting the appearance and seemliness of her husband and children.

Hannah Antoinette Schäfer-Quinn is engaged to her longtime boyfriend at the tender age of 21. Her parents think that might be a bit young, but she is of age and has complete liberty to do whatever she wants. As a student, she was every bit the star: smart, witty, clever, creative, kind, musical…the list went on and on. She was, of course, class president and soccer captain. Pretty, too, with Shirley Temple ringlets, . All this made Ophelia the secondhand sister, much to her dismay.

When it came out that Ophelia liked girls, Hannah was the first to reject her. Her mother was the second. Hannah found it unfitting and possibly career-marring that her baby sister was a homo, so she began to absolutely deny the very existence of said sister. Honorine instead began to ignore anything that had to do with Ophelia's sexuality, so no more clothes-buying, no beauty tips, nothing of that sort. It was practically blasphemy that Honorine left Ophelia to fend for herself in the appearance department. On a completely other hand, Leon accepted her and treated her no different than he always had, a relief to Ophelia, who had hoped she wouldn't be kicked out of the house or disinherited.

[] »» That’s Not My Name, Ting Tings; Austen Moonshine Zanier
[] »» Friend of Mine, Lily Allen; Austen Mooney, Texas, Austen Powers, Zaney, Austey
[] »» Fallin, Alicia Keys; Females really have it out for me.
[] »» Our Time Now, Plain White T’s; 17, since that fateful day on December 18.
[] »» Painfully Obvious, Lauren Fairweather; Male.
To put it simply, Austen loves to have fun. And if the people around him are having fun too, it only makes it even more enjoyable. Easy-going, laid-back, and friendly are words that most people use to describe who Austen is. And it's true, for the most part. Never being able to sit or stand still for long periods of times, Austen would always get in trouble, but it never stopped him. It kind of gave hima reputation as a bit of a "bad boy", but that didn't bother him, it only gave him more liberty to move. He's always been the guy who made everyone laugh at even the stupidest things, whether intentional or not, and the guy that everyone fell in love with instantly. Or at least the girls (and their parents). The boys were always making room for him and handing him a drink, making him a part of the group instantly.

But that doesn't mean that Austen doesn't know how to have fun on his own. When he's by himself, that's when Austen loves to spend his time outdoors on his sailboat, hiking, mountain biking or whatever. As long as he can stay outside in the good part of being earthbound. If he had the option between being stuck indoors and being outside, he would choose the outdoors every time, even in the worst weather (which he has done, his mother scolding him about being outside when it was monsoon weather). It was just so much more opening and beautiful than the whitewash walls of a classroom or an official building. Besides, being outdoors left more room for play and fun. which it all led back to eventually, even if the rules said it didn't. Because when the rules won't allow it, you just have to bend and twist them a bit until they fit your needs-- because that's what rules were for, bending and twisting. And when they bend and twist too far, eventually breaking, that's when the real fun begins, when that exhilaration takes over, giving a better high than real drugs.

But all this "fun-loving" doesn't mean that Austen isn't well read. Granted, he hasn't read Tolstoy or Dostoevsky, definitely not Bronte (don’t even ask him about Jane Austen), but Shakespeare is burned in his brain, if not for Romeo's great pick-up lines, for his great writing style, not something you will hear Austen say too often. Austen has a general knowledge of everything, something he will be willing to say if asked. He's not one to fail a test or essay because he didn't know the material, but more of a failing because of not handing it on time or not explaing himself to the best of his abilities. He knows what he's doing, having a gift for picking up material quickly, it is just a matter of him actually doing it. "Why do homework when somewhere there's a party calling me?"

[] »» Homecoming, Kanye West;
In case you didn't figure it out from his name, Austen's parents are kind of hippies. Or they could be alcoholics, but mostly hippies. Which resulted to Austen being a "kind of hippie" himself, all earth-loving and outdoorsy and blahblahblah. His mother actually made a business out of being more earth-friendly than most, starting up an organic makeup and jewellery company. But that's getting ahead of myself, time to go back to the beginning.

Austen's family was pretty well off when he was younger. Not insanely rich, or rich in general, but a definite well off middle-class family. His father worked as a translator for a private company, meaning Austen saw pretty little of him as he was growing into his pre-pubescent years, his dad always being out of the country or overseas for business. His mother owned and ran an Organic Makeup and Jewellery Emporium alongside her best friend from high school, working from home. Being an only child, Austen grew up being pretty pampered and spoiled, his parents giving him basically whatever he wanted-- within reason. It was just him, his mom (who kept an eye on the young active boy), and his dad in their yellow brick house just outside the city limits. In his world, everything was perfect and came at almost no price. It was easy to say and see that his parents loved and cared for him a lot and would give anything fro him to be happy. This is probably where he got the same notion for his actions, making sure that everyone being happy was near the top of the priority list.

But it was when his family came into the "big money" when Austen was 14 that things changed. Not a huge change, but it was big enough that Austen's family noticed one by one, unsure of what to say to each other once again. The story goes that for years his family had been using triangular tea bags, his mother growing practically everything (including assorted teas, herbs and vegetables) in their backyard and greenhouse. But it was one night when they had an old family friend (who happened to be in the advertising business) over for dinner and dessert and he drank a cup of tea that their apparently unique tea bags became noticed fro selling potential. The family friend took them through the process, with them for every step, and soon their bags were sold to Tetley, Lipton, privately owned tea stores, or whoever it was that thought that they were such a great idea. The point was that apparently everyone thought that they were great, with their optimized surface area, allowing for optimal steeping and better, richer flavour. With the money that the Zanier made off of the profits of the tea bags, his mother was able to expand her organic makeup and jewellery emporium, selling them at kiosks in various malls and even start a website for long-distance orders (Austen’s idea, of course, the only technology-abled person in the household). This “new-found” money allowed the family to really come closer together, with Austen’s parents working less and closer to home. NOT.

Having everything a boy his age (and growing up) could want, Austen kept to himself, drifting away from what used to be regular family get together’s around the dinner table and spending more time with his friends. Of course Austen’s not a stupid boy, he knew at least some of them were just friends with him for his money, but at least they were people who understood Austen’s way of thinking when it came to having fun and understood him well enough to know when it was time and when it wasn’t. Because of this, Austen did spend enough time alone to realize what it was people his age and with his wealth did for fun, and that was what he realized he himself had to do to truly be ‘one of the guys’ in the rich and popular world. Not that his overall charisma, jokes, and attraction to slightly illegal things didn’t help. So here Austen was, at this time 15, partying and doing the worst but still being socially acceptable in the circle of the rich. Party on.
