Carmilla LaFaible

Role: Rouge Vampire - Audette's lover

Age: 185 years old (appears 20 years old)

Gender: Female

Power: Persuasion

Personality: Ruthless, Insane, Playful, Clingy, Childish

Biography: Carmilla was born in the year 1827, in London, England to a richest family in the country. She was treated just like a princess, but her personality was nothing but angelic according to anyone who's ever met her, and it was true as well. For someone so spoiled, she had never taken it for granted. As she grew up, she soon became of age for marriage and was quickly entranced by a mysterious man who appeared at her window one night. He had explained to her that he had seen her many times while she had been out and about, but had been too shy to approach her until then. Carmilla, being a young girl who was in love with the idea of marrying and having children of her own, was easily wooed by this young gentleman. Although she thought it odd, he only visited her during the evening and they spent time together strolling along the nearly empty streets of London, often stargazing or simply engaging in small talk. He asked for her hand in marriage, and she was quick to accept his proposal.

The most elegant wedding took place soon afterward, being planned in a beautiful setting in a nearby park under the light of the full moon. It was the talk of the town for quite some time, but on the night of their honeymoon, once this nameless man had finally made Carmilla his, he revealed that he was not the man she had thought him to be. He struck her in a fit of rage over her simple question of why he adored the night so much. Shocked and heartbroken, she had begged for his forgiveness and that she would never speak of it again. He had feigned his forgiving of her, and she was happy to pretend as though it had never happened. It was a week later, when tragedy struck her home. Her mother was discovered with her neck ripped open by some animal in a back alley. Carmilla was devastated by the news of her mother's death and took it with great difficulty, and to make things worse, her new husband was as distant as ever. He hardly ever spoke to her or provided any comfort to her while she mourned the death of her closest friend and confidant. The only time he did speak was when he chided her for being foolish while she cried over the woman who gave birth to her. He occasionally yelled at her, and thus adding more pain to her continuous suffering.

The very next month, the same fate happened to her older sister, Rielle. She was again, devastated by the news. For a couple months more, her father and sisters husband were murdered in the exact same manner as the first, and then it began happening every two weeks, and then every few days until her family was completely annihilated. Carmilla was broken and lost, and her husband seemed to not have a care in the world. The only shred of happiness during this time was discovering that she was with child, and that had been something she had truly been looking forward to in her future, but now, there seemed to be no happy future for her at all. She even went as far as to keep her growing child a secret from her husband, for she planned to flee the nightmare that had become her life and travel elsewhere. Her husband walked in on her while she was packing her things and instantly broke out into a steaming rage, battering her with both words and abuse. Carmilla feared for her child and eventually told him to stop for the sake of their child. He, of course, stopped his physical abuse, but he didn't soften up at the news and appeared disgusted instead. She was at her breaking point, and ignored the insults that he threw at her as she packed her things. Feeling hands at her waist, she spun around only to see her husband, but with the face of a monster. Fangs gleamed in his mouth, and the cruelest of smiles covered his face. He explained to her what he was, and that he had killed her entire family in the process. The news hit her like a wave of crushing pain, and she could no longer bear to hear the details of how he had made her family suffer before he killed them, so she attempted to run.

She fled her hometown and quickly traveled across England, in hopes that she would escape the nightmare that was her husband. Having plenty to support herself, she was able to stay in many inns along the way without hassle, but at the dawn of every morning, she would always find the guests and owners dead. She knew who had done it, and eventually stopped going into inns for fear of her killing more innocents. On the night before she would be boarding a ship that traveled overseas to the colonies, he finally showed himself. He tortured her with words and when she could finally take no more, he bit her, and changed her into the thing that she hated so much. When she awoke from the change, he was nowhere in sight, and her once growing belly was now flat as a pancake. Her child had disappeared completely from her body, and she would never be a mother. This single fact sent her toppling over the brink of insanity, and she's never regained any semblance of breaking out of it for the duration of her miserable life as one of the undead.

Thirty years later, in 1877, in a town called Newport, Carmilla was wandering through the nearly empty streets while sounds of singing and glasses chinking in a bar nearby, she came across the first vampire she had seen since she had been changed. The woman was drinking from the neck of a young man, and paid Carmilla no attention as she approached. "Stop it. You're doing it all wrong..." Is what she said when the mysterious woman had finally taken notice to her, and managed to pull away from her dying meal. Carmilla pulled the man away from the vampiress and sank her fangs into the opposite side of his neck and drank the rest of his precious life source from his body no differently than the woman had been doing. After the body had been carelessly dropped to the ground, she met the smoldering stare of the woman. "Did you hear the little birdies? They sing when you do it right." She laughed while saying to the mysterious woman, who later introduced herself as Audette. For whatever reasons the woman had, whether it be pity or amusement, she took Carmilla under her wing. The two of them spent many years together, and are still found with one another today.

Of course, in the midst of all of that, another member is part of their small troupe. Carmilla had discovered him drinking from some old coot, and had instantly wanted to take the ten year old into her care. Audette, however, did not think it was the greatest idea, but it was also the one time that she had seen any sort of sanity come from Carmilla as she begged to keep the little boy, or as she called him "the pretty little puppy" in her light cockney accent that she had acquired over the years of wandering through the poorer parts of England. By the time she had met this child, it was during the mid-nineties and both her and Audette had been in America for quite some time. The stronger of the two women finally caved under her begging and the young boy joined them. Their journey eventually led them to the Vermillion Coven and although they were accepted into the group, they found that they didn't share the same values when it came to mealtime. After forming a small group with a couple others, the five of them left to cause their own havoc in the bright and wild city of New York.

Audette LaRhône

Role: Rouge Vampire Leader

Age: 21 (211)

Gender: Female

Power: Mediumship

Personality: Calm, mysterious and brooding with an appetite to kill, but cares for those she likes.

Biography: Audette was born in France in the year 1801 under the care of her mother, Charlotte LaRhône, for her father was listed into the naval force. She had an older sister as well, named August, whom was three years her senior. They lived relatively well on the savings of her father, but in 1806, he was killed in the battle of Santo Domingo. With no other family or options, Charlotte had no choice but to join a brothel to support herself and her young children. Audette and August grew up under the care of the women of the brothel until 1822, when their mother was stabbed, murdered by a client, of whom the constables never found.

Heartbroken, Audette vowed to live her life trying to find the man who had done this to her mother, and despite the beggings and pleadings to stay by her caretakers and sister at the brothel, she set off to find him. She remembered his face and first name from when they had briefly met the night before Charlotte was killed, which aided her search for a while. Finally, after months of searching, she found him walking along the streets of Brittany with a different woman. She followed the two of them for a short distance until they stopped along the water’s edge.

That is when she learned that the man was not human. At the muffled cries of the woman as he sank his teeth into her neck, Audette took out her small carving knife and attempted to get her revenge. To her shock, he spun around in time to knock the weapon from her hand, drop the now lifeless woman to the ground, and sink his fangs into her neck as well.

After learning what she was, Audette never returned to the brothel, for she knew that people would ask questions about her “never-aging appearance” and has lived in scattered places around the world since then with the new name Autumn, for Audette LaRhône was a “presumed-dead” runaway.

Audette lived her life in an empty shell of lonliness and a burning desire for vengance, eventually making her way over to the busy streets of Newport, England. She was hellbent on finding the man who murdered her mother, and would not stop until her mission had been completed. Her journey here proved to be one of great significance, for not only did she exact her revenge on the malicious woman who accompanied the man that killed her mother, but she also found love. A strange and unexpected love for a woman who was completely, and utterly insane.

As quickly as they had come to be together, the two were torn apart within days of their passionate first encounter. Audette had fallen quickly for this unstable girl, Carmilla, and was crushed when a ghost from her father's past showed up, claiming to be the fiancee of the one she loved so dearly. At the time, Carmilla was working at a brothel, and Audette believed that their passionate affair had only been one out of pity and not true love. Little did Audie know, Carmilla was crazy for her, but was not there to witness the encounter of the animal woman tricking her.

Days went by, and Audette grew more and more lost, unable to shake away her feelings for Carmilla, and only wanted revenge for having her taken away. She began reconsidering the possiblity that the two women were truly engaged, and was convinced that they were not when one night she found that her apartment had been broken into. After searching her small home, she had found subtle clues that Carmilla had been there, for the only thing stolen had been her jacket. She was pleased by this fact immensely, and as she lay down to sleep that night, the scent of Carmilla filled her head as she realized the girl had been lying there only a few hours prior.

Needless to say, Audette destroyed that woman when the time came, and although the two lovers have had their share of drama over the years, they've never once left the others side.

Elena Roselyn Hearte

Role: Coven Vampire - Second in Command

Age: Twenty-three

Gender: Female

Power: The creation and control of illusions

Personality: Elena is incredibly passionate, witty, and undoubtedly graceful. On an uneventful day she loves nothing more than to use her playful sharp tongue to tease and enjoys playful banter. However, she knows how to be serious and will immediately sober up. She is dedicated to her people and will do anything to ensure their survival.

Biography: Elena's origins were the same as many other human girls. She was born into a caring family, with a mother and father whom loved her very much. Elena believed for the longest time that she had no other family, but at the age of ten, when a tragic accident occurred, she learned otherwise. During a work related function (her mother was an editor for a fashion magazine, her father a vp for an import/export automobile business) there was a great earthquake. This caused a collapse and subsequent fire in the mansion the party was being held at. Her parents perished.

It was that same night that a strange woman who looked very similar to Elena showed up. Her namesake, her long-lost aunt Roselyn. There was something unique about her aunt, whom her mother had said passed away when they were in their twenties. She had perfect porcelain skin, glassy eyes that seemed to see everything, and movement that was all too graceful and agile. She never appeared to eat. Roselyn did indeed take great care of her niece, and after one years time her aunt came clean about those unique traits. Roselyn told Elena everything, about her being a vampire, her clan for which she was second in command, and how that had all come to be. It was a lot for someone so young to take in. Somehow though Elena accepted this without much of a fight.

They became her family, and she their untouched pet child. When she was twenty-one her aunt allowed her to make the decision to join the Vermilion Coven. After her rebirth Elena showed a talent for the creation and control of illusions, which greatly pleased the Coven members. Roselyn had thankfully been training Elena to be a graceful fighter since she adopted her, so when Rose was murdered, Elena was quick and efficient with her revenge. Elena used a combination of her power and physical skill to destroy thee rogue vampires. She proved herself to the coven and attained her aunt's position of honor as the Vermillion Coven Second in Command.

Thomas Greyback

Role: Rouge Vampire

Age: 119 years old (10 years old)

Gender: Male

Power: Invisibility

Personality: Energetic, Levelheaded, Funny, Stoic, Compassionate, Empathetic

Biography: Thomas died around 1890 in the city of London. He was often shy at times and was the child of a very unfortunate family. Even though he was not wealthy, Thomas always kept his spirits high and was kind to everyone. His mother loved him dearly while his father wanted him to drop out of school and get a job as a paper boy for full time. His father was always hard on him, but Thomas showed no hint of anger or sadness. The day he did however, brought him a very curious visitor.

The boy wandered around the streets of London with a very sad expression on his face. He kept thinking about how sad his life was and how much his father must hate him. Sitting on a nearby bench alone, Thomas began to cry. His friends at school only befriended him because of his fun personality. Other than that, he couldn't talk to them or anyone else about his troubles. That's when she came. Out of no where, a woman appeared before the young boy and asked him what troubled him. Startled, Thomas was prepared to run until he saw the woman's eyes. They seemed. . .soothing. Understanding, and Thomas was in no mood to banish company when he was in great need for a friend. He spilled everything and how he had felt about carrying such a burden. All the woman did was listen while staring at the boy with understanding eyes with a hint of curiosity. She had given him some advice about moving forward and letting nothing get to him. It was weird to Thomas, he could have swore that the woman was pale hungry. She then walked inside the shadows of London, while Thomas began to walk back home with his new friend on his mind.

Almost every evening, Thomas spoke to this woman and told her everything about him. The woman seemed to not have smiled or laugh much, but she did around Thomas. The foolish and funny things Thomas told her seem to make her more and more curious about the boy. One night, she had caught him by surprise by the generosity of a gift, a Nintendo game console that had just came out around Thomas's time. He jumped up and down with glee and hugged the young woman. Still wrapped around his arms, the woman began to speak. "I've never had a child before. How I wish you were mine." This made Thomas scared. He was no fool, and his mother had always warned him about strangers. He wished her a good night after small conversation and went home. There waited a pair of very angry parents. The mother seemed to take pity upon Thomas, but the father didn't. He questioned his whereabouts with a shouting voice. "What's this?" He asked, gesturing towards the gift in Thomas's hand. "Are you stealing now?" He snatched the game console out of the boy's hand and threw it with force across their small home. That's when Thomas would never forget. The same woman he had been meeting up with broke through their only window and bared her fangs at the father. Fear took over his son's body as the woman flew towards the father with blinding speed, ripping out his throat with her teeth. "N-no!" Screamed Thomas. He had not wanted this. His friend then advanced to his mother, punching her fist inside her chest; right where her heart should be. His parents toppled to the ground, and Thomas stood there, frightened. He dropped to his knees and stared at his friend with widened eyes as she explained to him what she was. She seemed hungry and eager to get close to Thomas. He still stood there paralyzed with fear and screamed as the woman sunk her fangs into his neck.

When he awoke, she was nowhere to be seen. All that stood on the bloody floor was a note from his former friend. She had swore never to bother him again and apologized for the thing she had done. She had also mentioned what she had done to Thomas physically. Not just drink, but turned him into a different breed. He ripped up the note angrily and mourned over his dead parents.

He traveled to North America, not wanting to stay behind in his home. From there, he wandered aimlessly like a ghost. He was frightened from what others could do to him, and what he could to do others. His new taste in hunger is what scared him most. One night, unable to control himself, he had began to drink from a a bird when two other woman witnessed what he had done. Thomas was shocked to see that it seemed normal to them. He was even more shocked to see that they were like him. The two girls took in the young boy and he learned as much as he can from them.

Years later, Thomas had a new personality that he had developed from his new leaders. He was often underestimated by his colleagues until he had demonstrated his powers of invisibility. It had come quite useful to him. Thomas often sneaked up on his fellow vampires and pranked them to his enjoyment. When there had been a disagreement within the coven, he of course stayed as Carmilla's companion. It had taken him a while, but he had grown to trust her fully.

Markov Boris Andreyev

Role: Rouge Vampire; 2nd In Command

Age: 783 (22)

Gender: Male

Power: Telepathy

Personality:Perhaps the most annoying kind of person to deal with, Markov is apathetic, and lazy, but to make up for the bad, he is fiercely loyal to the members of his coven. He is quick to anger, and does hold grudges for a few days, but if one of his own should fall under fire, he would be one of the first to come to their aid.

Biography: Born in the middle of a frigid Moscow winter in 1229, Markov was born into a generally poor family, the third eldest boy, with an older sister, and two younger ones. They weren’t destitute, like other families, but they weren’t in the social position that they wished to be in. Fortunately for the Andreyev family, they were graced with shamefully good looks which, under their father’s direction, they used to their advantage. The girls brought in money by being expensive prostitutes at the best brothels in the city, while the boys served as in-demand escorts, popular among the women of the social elite. Markov, while working, crossed paths with Anya, who was as devastatingly beautiful as he was. Being the naïve young man that he was, he didn’t think twice when she invited him to her salon for a little private time. He died that night and transitioned in the nights that followed.

His bloodlust was wild; he seduced and killed dozens of women for five centuries before crossing paths with the Vermillion coven. They sold him on their hopes and dreams for a peaceful existence with the humans, and Markov, believing that he wanted that too, ran with the coven for another handful of years, meeting Audette and her Carmilla, Lucien, and young Thomas. When ideologies began to clash, and those that could not – or rather, would not – suppress their innate predatory habits, Markov split off with them, to return to the high life that he once lived and loved.

Sofia Isabel Ortiz

Role: Coven Vampire

Age: 384

Gender: Female

Power: Shadow Mastery (Obtenebration)

Personality: Isabel is a quiet woman even though her nature is definitely not any but lively, or at least it once was. She is kind towards humans and non-humans alike, but has little tolerance to unnecessary violence and vulgar display of power. Despite that, it is rather hard to get her engaged in something because in her own words, “History repeats itself.” The main driving force in her un-life is art, especially in the form of music and over years she has become quite the pianist herself, mostly thanks to her past affiliates. For the same reason, she is rather reserved when it comes to romantic attachments, thinking she had her fair share and it's extremely rare for her to meet some intriguing enough.

Biography:Born in early 1600s, Isabel was a blossoming young girl by the time war broke in West Europe. Her father was the feudal lord of a small land and her first love was André, a French boy who was working in their keep. When Spain went to war against France, young lovers decided to run away as far as possible for it was a relationship Isabel’s father never approve, and much worse. Despite all the valuable belongings the young girl took, their resources went dry by the time they reached Italy. The initial plan was to go to Greece for it seemed far enough from war in their naive eyes. A noble man came to their rescue in Italy, he offered to cover their expenses and ensure their safety, Isabel’s safety to be more precise, for a price. Sadly, young girl was too ecstatic to understand what was going on at the time.

The young couple has the chance to play house for a month or so before it was time to return the favor. Little does she remembers from that night. It was an ancient burial ground outside of Athens. In a matter of seconds, blood poured from the man she loved so deeply, his vitae only to be absorbed by the dirt he stood on. Under moonlight, Isabel, suffocated in tears and cries, saw a grotesque nightmare emerging from earth, a skeleton covered with a ghoulish skin and before fainting, she felt the life driven away from her veins.

Following days, weeks were a turmoil of feelings for the girl. Her sire avoided her for a long time and she couldn't stomach herself for being around the 'thing' that killed her lover and turned her into his own kind. She was torn apart between burning revenge and disturbing admiration. It was the time when she confronted him, that she learned about sorrow, humility, regret and love. She thirsted for every sunset just to talk to him and the more they talked, the more she lost herself in him and his story. Over a few years, her Sire's quest took her to many countries. She was always free to leave but she never did for the man has become the sun she would never see again.

So again, a turmoil followed when their paths parted. Isabel spent many years in Europe just wandering, as a debutante in one city or a courtesan in another... She was young, charming and her unlife gave her unlimited time to open doors of vast knowledge. She was the lover of a composer in Poland and she was the muse of an Italian poet. By the time she had the will to return to the homeland where the story began, it was the early 20th century. The century that changed the world altogether with two world wars and drastic political movements, also changed her. She had seen wars but she was struck when all happened much brutally in front of her eyes. Seeking a more secluded unlife, she found her way to Vermillion, the coven who welcomed her still humane soul. Now, in the shadows, she is a whiter shade of pale.

Biography: It was the 1940's, Germany. Camdon was an American soldier in WWII. He was ordered to scout the area with a few other men. The man in charge of them was older and already battle hardened. This mission was to help the younger, greener soldiers acclimate themselves to their new lives. But it wasn't Nazis lurking in the dark. A more sinister foe was waiting for them that night. After the screaming was silenced, one figure was left forgotten in the bushes. Camdon never figured out why the Vampire didn't kill him along with the others. He was the first one that had been attacked after all. But that was in the past now.

Benjamin Landon Garza

Role: Human

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Personality: Benjamin is a self-satisfied, self-centered, risk-taker.

Biography: Benjamin Landon Garza was born out of wedlock to a social-climbing mother and a much older and well-off father, who saw little to be gained from the pregnancy. His mother forsaken in love, cut off from financial sustenance, and consequently plummeted back to hopeless destitution. Benjamin grew up valuing his paternal lineage, adding to his ego and self-centeredness. His life was unstructured – drugs come and go, and along with it, money. He was eventually estranged from his mother, who soon died from a haemorrhagic stroke, which neither deterred nor discouraged him from self-destruction … until immediate salvation arrived in the form of a cheque for half a million dollars as inheritance from his father. He was 18 and easily blinded, then smug about the steady stream of cash from both the bank and drugs. The money bought him clothes and a clean shaven look that afforded him access to more of his father’s wealth, as well as that of his father’s relatives through sympathy of the charming b*****d child which they must now welcome or else endure guilty sleepless nights knowing of his hardships. He rents a room in a rundown motel, choosing it over a more comfortable suite accessible to him, perhaps to play with his paternal relatives’ conscience some more. But he does not reveal anything about his choice of residence, only to cover up his obvious desire to continue illegal dealings, and a more recent liking of company that live in the dark.

Benjamin has just turned 19.
