× Forgive but never Forget
Muggles and Magic Families alike are human and because of that they are prone to make mistakes or not behave how they should under certain circumstances, masks have a tendency to fall of when we all least expect it. This is not a life lesson Ms. Burke has missed, she knows that people are typically out to better themselves. Heck, is that not why she left her home in the first place. Lyn has learned that it is easier to forgive people when they have done you wrong or wronged. Depending on the offense of course; but that doesn't mean that she agrees with what they did or will ever forget it. She has always been good at remembering things, it is what made her time at Hogwarts and the couple of Universities she attended easy. She will put on a smile and continue on as if nothing had happened, but don't you dare think for a moment that she has forgotten what it is you had done.

× Keep your Chin Up
Life isn't meant to be easy, things aren't supposed to be handed to you on a silver platter and sometimes life liked to give you a mean right hook when you weren't expecting it. Boy how does Lyn know that, but no amount of moping around and wishing that things had been different is going to change what occurred or prevent it from happening again. Now, Lyn knows you just have to learn what you can from whatever may have transpired then brush it off your shoulder and move on with life.

× Paddle your own conoe
Lyn is not your average dame who is going to sit down and hope that mommy and daddy will get things done for her or that some man will come around and sweep her off her feet. She is not afraid to take the path less taken and to do things her own way. No offense to her old Divination teachers but life is just too short to leave it completely up to fate and for Lyn that means grabbing life by the horns and steering the son of a witch where she wanted to go. Nothing good comes from people who sit around do nothing and watch as things play out in front of them. Because she has done what she had Lyn can honestly say that she is happy with where she is now, having experienced what she had. Not everyone can say they got to travel across the ocean to study and then came back to teach what they learned shortly there after.

× Wear the Trousers
If there is one thing that Lyn has retained after stepping away from the family, it's that when she wants something she will fight until the cons outweigh the pros to get it. In the very select few relationships she had toyed with during her free time she had been told time and time again that she had been the one in charge, or at least the one who knew what it was they wanted out of the relationship. Lyn isn't the sort to put her foot down when she knows she is on the losing side, but she knows how to assert herself when she must and isn't afraid to do so. And even when she knows she is on the wrong side of the fence her passive-aggressive nature will come out with a muttered rude remark or devious plots forming in the typically safe confides of her mind.

× Childhood
The only thing Lyn can remember about the majority of her childhood is blood purity this, dark lord that, he-who-must-not-be-named is returning and blah blah blah. Her mother was out of the picture, she was an angel from what Lyn understood. An angel born into the wrong house and married to the wrong person during the wrong time period. She was blasted off the wall and spoken less of than the man they couldn't name. It probably didn't help that her mother was her fathers second wife; Lynx never did ever learn what became of her brothers' mother. For most of her childhood Lynx found herself outside and away from everyone, running around the forests that were behind her home. She was at peace out there, though she couldn't tell you why that was the case.

× Hogwarts
It came as no surprise when she received her letter to attend Hogwarts. With her brothers being over ten years her senior and had better things to do than baby their younger step sister. It was a good thing she had watched a couple of other owl carrying families cross to their hidden platform, or she would have been royally and utterly screwed. Things at school were chaotic to say the least with the boy-who-lived being alive and...well fighting the crazed man who wanted to rule the world. What? She had gained more than enough insight from those around her to know what was going on, did she also forget to mention she was NOT placed into Slytherin like everyone else in her family? Nope, miss little Burke found herself homeless and disowned mere months after attending the school. Where was she placed? Oooh, wouldn't you like to know.

× Wasted!
The Wizarding World was still recoiling from the chaotic mess that came after the Wizarding War, Lynx found her family missing and enough funds to do something that had always interested her. Further her studies in any and everything that was Muggle related. She wanted to get as far away from London as she could, expand her knowledge on muggles outside Britain. And that is how she found herself enrolled in some college out in some state called Texas. Little did she know just how much she was going to learn while abroad...

Eat, Sleep, Drink, Party, Drink some and Party harder. That was the life she lived while somehow balancing her school workload. (How it was students complained about a ten page paper was beyond her, she had been assigned homework by the inches back home! This was cake!) Her main focus was history and Psychology;she couldn't tell you how many times people had tried to get her to change her double major, claiming she wouldn't find a job anywhere with that. Little did they know she was here for the experience and the experience itself, it was easy to get into a University and create a life for yourself when you had magic at your side.

Lynx thought she had seen the worst during the Wizarding War, little did she know that while the Muggles over here hadn't been even slightly affected. They too could be as cruel, if not crueler with their methods to get what they wanted. She learned that the hard way when she woke up in an unfamiliar room with a foul taste in her mouth and an unfamiliar man laying with his arm around her waist. Luckily her wand was placed on the ends table just within arms reach, a quick obliviate, anti-conception spell and apparation later solved that problem. Knowing she had more pressing things to attend to that worry over something she had allowed herself to fall into, for the most part Lyn continued on with her studies, more parties (albeit with less alcohol and more vigilance) and travel.

It was during these years of her adulthood where she picked up her interest for America's Country music, cowboy lifestyle and most her understanding of Muggle Life in General in the States. There were ups and more than enough downs, but it was her time spent here where she eventually turned from the Proper English Speaking Brit Transfer to the Americanized Witch she would be known as.
      .

× Back to Hogwarts!
Sometime after her thirty-second birthday Lyn applied for a position at the school that had shown her that there was more to the world than what the mansion she had lived in for the first eleven years of her life. Positive she wasn't going to actually be taken as a serious candidate for the position Lyn had applied for another term at the college she was attending now near Salem. Unbeknownst to her she had settled herself around one of America's largest Wizarding Communities, where there would surely be more opportunities for someone with more first-hand knowledge on what exactly was going on to their (the States') distant cousins (The Brits.) Before she could completely settle herself down though, she was given word that she had in-fact been chosen to become the schools new Muggle Studies Professor. Between you and her she didn't actually apply for that position, but Hogwarts was always that home she never really had growing up. Who was she to turn down an opportunity to go back as a Professor at that!

It was chaotic to say the list, it was like the the Wizarding Community back home had all the pieces of the old ways but they just didn't quite fit like they used to. Which made sense; she learned that it could take the muggles decades to rebuild what was lost during wars and they had those weird contraptions they were always coming up with to help them in that. Sure the wizards had new spells, charms and potions or what not... but they didn't really know how to go about after a Wizarding War. It wasn't like there was a book!

Her first year was interesting if nothing else, apparently going back home had been the last straw for her trusty Sycamore wand. It just went up in flames one day in class as she was trying to levitate a book over to her. Who would have known you could bore a wand to suicide. The more you know, huh? The following year wasn't too bad and now she felt like she got the hang of things. Or as much as a person could given her position; how people like Dumbledore and McGonagall had done it in the past was beyond her. They literally seemed to have everything under control, even when the ground was being pulled from under them .

Just because I am a Pureblood, doesn't mean a thing!

I like consenting men and women thank you very much.

Keys to my heart

The Truth You can do little wrong in this womans mind so long as you tell the truth. If there is something that peeves this female off it is liars and for good reason. Even if you are in the wrong you are more than likely to get out of a harsher punishment so long as you tell the truth to the woman.
American Country During her time studying abroad in the muggle world Lyn found herself falling head-over-heels in love with American Country artists such as: Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Kellie Pickler and Miranda Lambert.
The Muggle States She spent a good number of her college years in America and Lyn fell in love with their distant cousins' way of life and accents. Over the year since becoming a teacher her half Brit- half- American accent; which means the laugh back here are down low but when she receives a ring from the States...they lose their minds. And yes, she has a cell.
Masquerades Lyn has been to her fair share of masked parties and she has yet to be disappointed. There is just something about hiding who you are for a night and simply enjoy the company of the people around you. Sure having and being able to perform magic to help keep her mask on or slightly changing things such as her hair and eye color may be considered cheating, but after her last experience with the Muggle invention called hair dye and contacts....she is completely content with using magic.

Get that away!

Alcohol You can thank her years as a muggle college student for this. This doesn't mean she wont drink, she just wont get wasted if she can help it.
Bulls Perhaps choosing to go to school in Texas was not her best plan ever, noted she learned a lot about the culture. She certainly learned there were a lot of things you shouldn't do while drunk, bull riding was definitely one of them. She has night terrors of those bloody things to this very day.
Chihuahuas You want to get a good laugh at Lyns expense and be an acquaintance in animal cruelty. Sick one of these guys after her and she can promise, if around the right company, she was hex it or kick it away from her. Then expect to receive a slap and be ignored for a short amount of time...mama don't play.
Trait explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain explain.

You think I am joking, I will end you!

Being bitten/Small dogs: You can claim those little evil dogs that live over on the other side of the world. Every single 'cute puppy' seemed to have a keen dislike for the muggles teacher, hell a couple of them managed to draw blood. Needless to say after the third, sober, bite she has done her best to avoid the deceiving spawn devils from the abyss..
Being taken advantage of Lyn learned first hand that while Muggles don't have magic they are still capable of cruel and inhumane acts against even a trained witch. She hasn't brought up her incident with anyone as of yet, but you can guarantee that Lyn is an advocate against underage drinking, drugs and other monstrosities that can make someone vulnerable.

G o o d i e s

I'll have you know that this is my s e c o n d wand.
wood:Aspen
length:11 1/2
core:Unicorn Hair
flexibility:Springy

My first one set itself on fire during my first year of teaching....
apparently
teaching Muggle Studies is as boring to my faithful
S y c a m o r e wand as it is to those 'forced' to sit through my class.

Moral of the Story: I suppose you can bore, at least, a wand to death.

I had a goldfish once... they don't sleep on their backs guys.

Surprise surprise when I found out my p a t r o n u s
was a bloody lioness and ran around the room.
She scared the bejeebers out of me!

Lion

1. Liam Carter Harris :
Lyn is sure that in the future she will be able to sit down and laugh about all the interesting situations she found herself in when Liam was in class. The student has allowed Lynx to somewhat learn how to deal with some of the people she found herself actively avoiding at all costs since her return from the states. Now some of his flirtatious remarks and comments do little more than make arch a brow and smile. The best thing about him is that when she found herself in a sort of adventurous mood she would change partners up in class, which typically ended up with her placing students where she believed she would earn the most hilarity or they would learn the most from.

Liam is competitive, he is a Quidditch player what had pleasantly surprised Lynx was his ability to make light of his new found situation. What can she say Liam was definitely someone she remember and possible keep tabs on after his time here.

The moment she found out that he could actually play a Muggle Guitar and rather well at that Lynx was already working out on what she would get him for the following year. It was a hobby of hers that was fun; she would go out, typically back to the states, and find something that best suited whomever it was she had on mind at the time. It took her a while to find what she was looking for but now the gift of hers was wrapped and stored under her bed in her room at Hogwarts. .

2. Nathaniel Rex McCall :
Had Nate not been the one to answer most of her questions correctly his first year in her class Lynx could have very well overlooked the RavenClaw during his whole time in her class. For years even. She had even been on the receiving end of one of his rants... she wasn't really bothered by it more like surprised the kid could speak so much. It was promising, but also zeroed her attention on the kid.

She wasn't blind and from the moment he had thrown her for a loop Lynx had her eyes on the boy...in a non predatory, creepy or rape-y sort of way. He didn't seem to actively participate or converse with one another and there was just something off about him. She got generic answers when she brought him up in conversation. When she had spotted him outside of the class it was not unusual for her to find him with some book in his hand, nothing wrong with that. He was studious and into reading. She could respect that and not find it suspicious. Honestly!

But the way his eyes would light up when she would bring in something from the Muggle world some sort of contraption that he knew something about. She counted those Fridays as a success and honestly, though she would never tell unless he directly asked her. She had only started doing that as a means to try and learn more about the kid. It was such a huge hit...it kinda became tradition. And she has grown to genuinely not mind when he corrected her in class about some device or another. It took her to the end of last year to come to the conclusion that perhaps everything she had been trying not to jump the gun on were true. Perhaps her little fifth year, at the time, had some sort of confidence issues. He was like the complete opposite of one of her other students Jackson.

What Lyn thinks about them
2. Bethany Anne Gale :
Whenever Beth is brought up in conversation Lyn typically nods her head and goes off of what third party information she has gained on the female since she hasn't been a student of hers or had any real one on one confrontation with. There may be some solace of in knowing that what information she has gathered from her sources hasn't given the Professor any ill opinions of her.

Snake

1. Martin Gabriel Saunders :
What Lyn thinks about them
2. Neymeria Morgan Blackwood :
There was nothing more exciting that showing up the first day of school to teach Muggle Studies and being able to see someone who really, like really really wanted to learn any and everything about it. Lyn couldn't tell you how touched and grateful she was to run into someone like Meri. When the Slytherin had questions she wasn't afraid to answer and she seemed to be almost as interested in all things Muggle related nearly as much as she had been. It goes without saying that the bond that grew between the two of them was more of a sisterly sort than anything, don't get her wrong....Lynx could be professional when she had to. And when she did she wasn't surprised to find the red head at her door wanting to know more about something anything than the bland lesson for that day.

There is not much that Lynx wouldn't do for the Slytherin, what could she say- she wasn't going to lie. Meri was by far one of her chariest students and so long as it was within her power she would help the Pureblood get out of the mess she was in. In a ways Lynx had dodged that bullet, having been disowned shortly after arriving at Hogwarts, though in a way her parents did still expect things of her....didn't they. The last thing Lynx wants to see is such a promising student be held back by family. As bad as that sounds, Lynx had already accepted whatever consequence may come her way by trying to free the teen from her family snares.

As of this point in time Lyn only really knows that the curse of the DADA position seems to still be in play and that a Mr. Wesley will be the one to fill the roll for this coming year.

7. Jacqueline Renee Morgause :
Lynx has seen the young charms professor in passing during her (Jacquie's) first year. Sadly she hasn't had the pleasure of being able to sit down and converse much with the woman. The Student Body seem to have soft place in their heart for her and that's always a good thing in her eyes. Though she could have sworn for the longest time the Charms Professor was French, or had a french accent. It had been in passing but her mind was more focused on insuring that her N64 was not dropped and completely destroyed. It was Friday and she tried to bring an actual piece of Muggle Technology in to show the class.

Back to Ms. Jacquie, Lynx would have sworn she was French. It almost suited her, complimented her nature if she were to be so bold. But every other time she heard her speak she sounded just like well everyone around her besides her. Perhaps she was just hearing what she wanted to hear?

11. Nathan Jayden Selwyn :
She knows better than to classify their relationship as that of a friendship. They are more along the lines of acquaintances who get together on horrible days and drink the night away. If there is ever a time where she just wants to let go of the person she is and be a typical woman or witch all she has to do is go down to the Three Broomsticks and more times than naught Jay will either be there or show up there afterword. It's not every day you get the chance of talking about your Muggle adventures to someone who is generally interested in just listening to you.

▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒ ▒▒ ▒| I am: at the arriving station | with : Jacquie and Abigail | and feel: alert |

x
Everything just seemed so in place, like everyone here belonged and had nothing to really worry about minus what they were going to have for dinner or how they were doing in work. It was peaceful, a different sort of peaceful than that of the muggles but peaceful nonetheless. Professor Burke had just let out a long breath when all of that peace went out the window and people began stampeding around like wild animals. She honestly thought that she had been thrown back in time somehow, back to when she watched those muggles run from bulls all those summers ago. For what purpose? She couldn't tell you she was too drunk to know, what she did remember was that it was funny as heck in her drunken state. But that was besides the point, the tranquility of the village was completely shot and Lynx had barely enough time to dodge those shoving passed her when she heard her name called out from over the crowd. She had barely been able to make that out over the yells, cries and spell casting, but she had and after a complete turn she spotted the voices' owner. She squinted her eyes trying to make out the words that she had said afterward with the arm movement, but to no avail and before she could ask for clarification or even begin moving towards her the Professor was gone. More or less out of frustration Lynx bit her lip and followed the blond Professor wishing she knew what the heck was going on, her stomach was twisting in knots. She knew enough to know that something bad was happening and action was required now...not later.
x
She couldn't even tell you when she had drawn her wand, but as they traveled -toward the train station she noted- Lynx was exceptionally glad that she had drawn it. She had stopped following the Charms professor to take up a defensive position and defend those trying to escape whilst holding off any and everyone who aimed a spell at her. It was chaotic and she could easily tell that this attack had to have been planned...on the enemies part. If the chaos was any indication it was that those being attacked had been caught off guard and because of that there were witches and wizards laying motionless on the ground. Lynx had just muttered Protego Totalum on a group of children when a stream of red flew passed her. Between the multiple battles going on she wasn't able to tell where it came from but she did spot two familiar Professors, surrounded and in possible need of help. "Go, run!" The children did what they were told and Lynx was able to give her full attention to the battle at hand.
x
She hadn't even the chance to turn back to her fellow co-workers. Something grazed her forearm and she twisted to defend herself before throwing up a Protego Lynx wasn't what she would call a bad dueler, she could manage on her own. She had even had the 'privilege' of seeing some of the dark curses used against people she knew. At the same time she was not an exceptional dealer either, she could get by and possible hold off a couple of people, literally just two, in a duel long enough to get herself out of trouble or even wait for more the arrive. But this was no ideal duel and if it wasn't for her split moment decisions she knew she would have been dead by now. She didn't know exactly who was friend or foe besides the two Professors she had spotted earlier, but she had no intention of dying here either. Her eye twitched, not but moments ago she had just returned to the wizarding world. A world she thought nothing but high of and here were people destroying that image she had of it. "Stupefy!!" She yelled catching one of the attackers of guard and nailing him.
