Y'know, B. There's two things wrong with this thread.

As usual, the official registrations open December first and the tournament officially starts December twentieth.

We changed the start date to January 2nd... but even if we hadn't, the tournament usually starts on December 27th.

With enough demand, the usual eight team limit may be extended to sixteen teams this year.

We had 16 teams last year. We're planning on 16 this year to start things off. We may go higher than that with enough demand.

Rule Update: Preliminary Rounds

Preliminaries

16. Preliminary rounds: Preliminary rounds will be held on the Heaven or Hell tournament grounds (the guild) and will run December 8th through December 14th. Participants will be divided into 4 groups for the purposes of testing and assigned to a preliminary round opponent. The second round of Preliminaries will run December 15th through December 21st.

Preliminary round matches run 10 posts per participant and will be scored as pass/fail. All members of a team must participate (including alternates), failure to attend your match is an automatic fail. A team is required to achieve a passing grade with the majority of it's members in order to participate in Heaven or Hell (2 fails drops a team from the roster).

Team registration slots opened because of this will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A team that has failed the first round of the Preliminaries may reapply and re-test during the second round.

Grading will be based on two factors: Literacy and Bullshit. It is recommended that you score high on one scale and low on the other. A single penalty is counted as a fail during the Preliminaries; keep it clean.
