Signing Up
Q. When can I place an order?
When in doubt, please check the
queue of the artist you'd like to commission! The queue is located at the the bottom of each artist's post. We can only take an order if a slot says "(open)" (or something reasonably similar)! We try to keep these queues as up to date as possible. An artist status message may also be posted, but please double check with the queue to be safe, since we sometimes do spazz out and forget to update the status messages. Thanks!
Q. If a queue slot says "(pending)," does that mean the slot is taken?
When a queue slot says "(pending)," it means that someone has already requested that slot and that we are waiting for them to pay. When this happens, the slot is reserved, but it will open up again if the person does not pay within three days of their request.
Q. Can I request multiple commissions at the same time?
At the moment, we are only taking one commission per person at a time in order to allow everyone who wants one to have a fair chance to make a request. Please feel free to come back for seconds or thirds and such, though, after we have had the chance to help out some other customers. Thanks!
Requesting Art
Q. What constitutes adequate reference?
For original character requests, we require artwork
of the character to be drawn that clearly portrays all details you wish us to include in our artwork. Please include at least one color reference (rather than a text description of the colors) - a simple color map with flat colors is perfectly fine - since we do better processing color schemes visually. You may also include additional reference material not of the character for extra clarification, if you like. In general, though, please provide us with color artwork of the character to be drawn in the outfit that you would like him or her to be drawn wearing. Thanks!
Q. What kinds of details will cost me extra?
You might have to ask on an individual basis, and please consult your preferred artist's information section for details, but generally: anything in addition to ordinary human anatomy, large amounts of flowy cloth, jewelry, markings on the skin, and other similar complications count as extra detail. A combination of too many of these factors may render your character too complicated for us to illustrate for virtual cash, so please keep that in mind.
Q. Why was my request declined?
We consider each commission request individually and base our decisions on a combination of many factors, including the amount of time and effort required for your request, as well as our personal stress levels. We make every effort to accommodate all requests, and as much as we sincerely enjoy creating art for others, we unfortunately sometimes find ourselves in a position where we are unable to take on certain projects. Please don't take it personally. Reasons behind each individual decision may be provided as a courtesy, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Payment
Q. Do you accept monthly collectible letters or other items as payment?
We have a section below listing items requested by donees that we will gladly accept as payment. You can also check each individual artist's information section for accepted items. Other than that, we will consider monthly collectible letters and items on an individual basis.
Q. Why are the prices in items/letters? Do you accept pure gold as an alternative to the items listed?
Since this shop exists mostly so we can obtain items to give to other people, and we're really busy, we try to ask for items so we can skip the buying part and give the items away directly. We will usually accept gold instead, though. We'll calculate the gold price for you at the time of the quote.
Q. Why are some of your prices so high?
Our prices are the result of balancing supply and demand to maintain our sanity.
Q. I'd rather not pay up front. Will you consider receiving payment after completion?
We are sorry, but payment must be completed before we begin work. Though we hope that our happy customer base is proof enough that we are people of integrity, we understand that some people are concerned about scammers and artists who don't deliver after being fully paid. We assure you, however, that we have the same kind of worries. To create a piece of custom artwork for you, we must spend a significant amount of time and energy, and as busy people with limited time, we can't take the risk of spending this limited time on custom artwork for a person who does not pay. We use the same upfront payment policy for both real-money and virtual-money artwork transactions and regret that we will have to decline your request if you cannot accept our policies.

Q. Why Pantsless Wonders?
Pantsless Wonders Workshop is named for Eijirou's first few days on Gaia in 2004, which he spent pantsless rather than wear the foul-looking starter peasant clothes. His were brown and looked mysteriously soiled. (It was also more fun to run around naked. ;P) Bugars stuck to his gray peasant gear, though, until he could afford decent clothes. Mussoh doesn't remember what color his peasant clothes were, but he was a Marketplace maven, so he was pimped out before the other two even had shoes.
Q. Can I have free art?
As much as we'd love to draw free art, we're generally too busy nowadays.
sad When we have a bit of extra time, we do sometimes doodle random freebies for people who hang out at our shop, though!
Q. What is omake, and how do I get one?
Omake is a bonus free gift. From us, it's sometimes a signature version of the requested art, or a flob or something. We may make these for people who tip or donate, but we also sometimes randomly give them out to customers just because.
smile
Q. You said that you were helping some friends with their quests, right? Will you maybe help me?
You never know.
3nodding We like making nice people happy - including both friends and random people we barely know - though we no longer donate to people who actively ask because of problems that have occurred in those cases. It's generally done in semi-secret. We don't usually even tell people that we're donating to them until we're actually making the donation.
Q. Can I exchange links with you guys?
Sure. We will be happy to exchange links in most cases. Please provide code for a 200x40 pixel banner (a link to a post in your mini shop with the code is fine), but please don't advertise in our thread before discussing the exchange with us in the thread. Please see the Link Exchanges section below for more information! Thanks!
Q. How does Eijirou work so fast?
Eij works in concentrated, manic bursts that sometimes include foregoing sleep and food.
