Well, Jean's actually one of the antagonists in my video game project. He was hired along with 5 other mercenaries to kill the main character and his group.
His story is that he joined his guild of mercenaries as payment for a job. That job being that the mercenary guild go out and kill his entire family because his father tried to break him to his will when he was 12. And by break, I mean rape. Seeing as he didn't have any money to give to the guild, he paid with himself and joined the organization.
He turns up later as a boss fight, watches the protagonist and his group kill his 6 year old partner, goes bat s**t crazy and returns for another fight later on. In which he dies Dx;

And that's quite understandable. Rest well~!

Yeah. The protagonists got a year's headstart on everyone else though.
And then I created the Chornas Mercenaries and spent ages working on them instead Dx; It is VERY difficult to make up your own organization and its 27 members and provide backstories and abilities for all of them DDD| I'm never doing that again.

xD I've been working on it for like... 4 years now. And I have barely anything to show for all my progress xD;;;;

I had a semibrief idea that the two of them would get married by the end of the game.
That fell through seeing as one was the archangel of the sky lands and the other had to stay in the mid-land because he was the world's champion Dx;

At least he got to be a hero in the end like he always dreamed?

Yeah.
He starts the game as this midgety little elf-thing whose only wish in life is to be a great hero like the elf he was named after xD As in, daydream swordfights with trees and imaginary battles against hoardes of demons. And yelling at his older brothers and sisters that he'd be a hero one day and show them all.

I can hardly believe his campaign started out as 'Elf lad, the elf who wanted to rid the world of pie and icecream' Dx; Hell, he's come SUCH a long way since then.
