Update - 26 May 2011 Okay, have cleared my original backlog from a year ago (mostly) and have started accepting new commissions. However, my waitlist has now become quite large, so I've had to close my thread again, I don't want to take on more than I can handle.

Welcome!
Here you can commission me to create artwork of your Gaia avatar (or similarly styled Original Character). I have a high standard of finish, hence my relatively high prices. Clean, polished and smooth, in an authentic-looking anime/manga style - in other words, professional. This is because you are actually hiring a pro, hehe, but because Gaia is a place for me to have fun I have strict rules about what I will offer here.

I prefer requests in the style of Pencils or Inks/simple colours, but you can bribe me heart which is why I have more complicated projects dotted around this thread with approximate costs, in case you have lots of gold or rare items to burn! Please also read my general information about the artwork in the post below.

Pencils
These are careful and detailed pencil illustrations with a teeny bit of subtle shading and a soft colour or grey tone applied. These are not sketches - so no construction lines or mess heart

Head/Bust: 40k-60k
Waist/Hips: 60k-80k
Full Body: 100k-120k
Chibi: 80k

Inks and Colour Fills
These are polished inked illustrations with colour fills. You can request lineart only for a discounted rate. Lineart colour is default black/white, but can be coloured/gradient. Colour fills are default Flat fills (like stained glass), but can be Textured (marbled), Gradient (some hair/clothes need this), Patterned (again, suitable for some) or 1-spot highlights (zOMG! style). I can make suggestions based on the avi you give me and your other requests 3nodding

Head: 80k-100k
Waist/Hips: 100k-150k
Full Body: 250k-300k
Chibi: 200k

Lineart only, no colour fill: roughly 10% discount

Bribes and Bigger Projects:
Difficult references, couples, groups, complicated poses, more detailed colouring styles are time consuming. Therefore, they will be EXPENSIVE, I MAY BE PICKY and THEY WILL TAKE LONGER. If you really want this, give me any items or the gold equivalent on my Questing Thread. The bigger the ask, the bigger the bribe, the longer it takes. If you want to commission me on a more professional basis (i.e. commercial, publishing, high res, full copyright, etc.), please to go to my official website and hire me properly with signed contracts and real money!

About me:
If my art looks familiar, let me explain: I'm Fyredrake on Gaia, but my real name is Sonia Leong. I'm a professional comic artist and illustrator specialising in the Anime/Manga style. My first graphic novel was Manga Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet (SelfMadeHero). My awards include Young Adult Library Services Association 2008 Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Reader and Best Books for Young Adults 2008 for Romeo and Juliet ; Winner in Tokyopop's UK Rising Stars of Manga competition (2005/06) and Winner in NEO Magazine's 2005 Manga Competition. I designed the Catgirl mascot for Wacom-Europe's Manga campaign. My artwork features prominently in the British movie, Popcorn (2007)and also on the set of Channel 4’s popular sitcom The IT Crowd. I contributed to Comic Book Tattoo (Image Comics), Tales inspired by the musician Tori Amos. I illustrate the Manga Life series of self-help comic books (Infinite Ideas), the first two titles being Find True Love and Be Creative. My work also appears in the Domo: The Manga (Tokyopop/Big Tent).

I have been involved in many instructional art books - I was the Lead Artist for the book Draw Manga (New Holland) by Sweatdrop Studios, a leading UK comic collaborative and independent publisher. My most recent works with Sweatdrop include Once Upon a Time..., Love Stuffing vol.1 and AyaTakeo vol.1, a full-colour comic originally published online.

I work in a variety of mediums including watercolour, pen and ink, screentone, alcohol colour markers, pencils and computer software. I've exhibited artwork in venues such as the Kyoto International Manga Museum, London County Hall, London Cartoon Museum, Japanese Embassy, Manchester URBIS Centre and provided product demonstrations on behalf of Copic, Letraset and Wacom.
