Yo Gaians!
At long last I have finally decided to create an art contest centered around my absolute favorite anime:

Yu Yu Hakusho. heart

If you've never heard of or seen this awesome anime classic, it is a 90's anime that stole my heart when I was only 14, and has remained one of my all time favorite shows eight years later. So, enough of my rambling....onto even more rambling. <3

This contest is fairly simply. At its core it is mainly my avatar with the cast of Yu Yu Hakusho. <3 Please use this avatar: however, feel free to also use this one if you choose to perhaps make my avatar an enemy or a demon, etc. ;3 :


The categories are: Couple Art and Oneshot/Group Art. As of now "Oneshot/Group Art" is just one category, but as the contest progresses I might split them up into two separate categories depending on the amount of entries. Okay Gaians! You know I love this show, so if you are still interested in participating in this contest please look no further than this post! Here I will give you the low down on the categories and give you the scoop on the prizes! heart So here we go!

Couple Art
If you didn't watch the video, here's the jist on the Couple Art category!
Basically it is what it sounds like; in this category I will be looking for art of any of the main four YYH guys and my avatar in romanticy/broseph settings *Just a hint, I love all of these guys but I won't lie, Hiei is my all time favorite anime character ever. So yup <3. ;3*
For specifics regarding each character for this category, please see the video in the first post for extra details! *In case you skip out on the video again, please note that the only character I will not be taking romantic couple art of is of Kuwabara BUT NOT because I don't like him--I happen to really like Kuwabara, however my friend is a Kuwa fangirl and she would kill me if I got couple art of her favorite character sooo... yup. xD*

All in all, just have fun with this category! I love all of the characters so, I won't lie, I'd love to see my avatar paired with all of these awesometastic characters. whee Feel free to ask if you have any questions. <3

The prize for this category issss: 500k!


OneShot/Group Art
The couple art category is reserved for the main four characters of the show. Howeeevveeeer, THIS category is open to all YYH characters! If you choose to do a "Oneshot" picture, this would be my avatar with any ONE of the YYH characters. For example: Rinku the Yo Yo Master could be with my avatar schooling her in the ways of yo-yoing. xD Or Yusuke on a pogo stick with my avatar laughing in the background...I think you get the jist. ;3
If you choose to do a group picture that means my avatar can be with two or more Yu Yu Hakusho characters (for those that require references please let me know, I have plenty of just about anyone from that show. ;3). For example, say the Drunken Master Chu is playing cards with my avatar Jin and Touya. The sky's the limit! This is your chance to draw all of your favorite characters doing whatever you want, just don't forget to add me in somewhere. ;D

The prize for this category issss: 450k
*There is a chance, depending on how many entries I receive of oneshots or group arts, that I may split them up into two separate categories. If this happens, the prize will just be cut in half, so about 225k for each. <3

The overall GRAND PRIZE for the contest will be 1,000,000 pure + the item Modus Operandi and the Runner's Up Prize will be The Case of Pietro

There will be fun Mini Contests to come throughout the months, including my friend Aoreena's Not-So-Mini-Mini Art Contest where she will be searching for Kuwabara fanart with her avatar. Remember when I mentioned my one friend who would kill me if I got Kuwabara couple art with my avi, welllll that would be her! xD

A few months ago I managed to get my friend Aoreena into Yu Yu Hakusho, and ever since she started watching the anime she fell head over heels for Kuwabara. So, I told her, since she is my friend I would gladly find a way to insert her Kuwabara love into my contest. Annnd after a little thinking I finally decided: a couple contest. <3

Aoreena's mini contest is rather simple, just couple art of Sarayashiki Jr. High's number 1 fighter,(we'll let Yusuke debate that claim later on ;3) and her avatar together in romantic fashion. heart

This mini contest is separate from the others simply because it is going to last longer than the regular mini contests in this thread, and will be both worth more prize wise and will also be eligible for multiple submissions unlike the normal mini contests.

This not so mini contest will last until April 5th April 25th and the grand prize winner will be awarded 500k! <3

gaia_spoons Boo Crew!~ YYH, with it's use of ghosts, apparications, and demons was a nod to some of Japan's horror genre. For this mini contest, artists can experiment with taking characters from the series and treating them to a spooky make-over. And, though I won't lie, seeing a vampire Yusuke or a mummy Jin would be adorably spooky, I'll be specifically looking for more of the horror-esque genre from Japan. YYH was a significant influence on my art back when I was first exposed to it (I ripped off Kurama's hairstyle for one of my first "serious OCs" ... made it blue and called it original, haha), yet I have never finished a decent fanart of the series. This would be a great opportunity to rectify that.

It was pretty much the same for me too actually! x3 I drew the characters all the time, especially Hiei >3> and that's how I started my love for drawing. heart Muhaha!

Episode number? Hmmm well, if I am not mistaken I believe it is either from episode 49 or 50. I love the Dark Tournament saga, it is by far one of the most interesting arcs of the series. <3
