Contest Rules

• Contest currently ends on Feburary 14th, midnight. WIPs may be submitted at this time with a one week extension until the 21st. These dates may be subject to extensions or changes if necessary.
  
  
• All entries must contain Katherine Kruel or Odette Kruel.
  
  
• All art must be original and created specifically for this contest. Please don't alter a similar looking character to look like one of mine, I will find out and you will be disqualified.
  
  
• Each entry is only eligible to win one prize. Priority is, of course, given to the higher value prize that a piece is eligible for. However, each artist can potentially win multiple prizes if they enter multiple pieces.
  
  
• Each category must have at least 5 entries by the end of the contest or that category will be dissolved and the gold used elsewhere in the contest.
  
  
• Ask for critiques or feedback, and you shall receive.
  
  
• NO pg-13+ work in the thread, please. You can however email it to me at [e-mail] and it will be appropriately censored before being displayed.

We're going to do this the fun way; backwards. Smallest prizes to largest. This will create the maximum tension and suspense, basically destroying everyones nerves. wink

Firstly, I'm sorry to announce that the Best Rachel category had to be dissolved due to a lack of entries. However, a few other categories were created and split, so it's not all bad news. In any case, here we go.

This is actually a split prize for this piece as well. They're both by Tash though, so she still wins it. Both the style and the execution are flawless, but what really got me was the melancholy expressions and the strange metaphor of the bird in the cage. Intentional or not, you won my affections with those little details.

Katherine Kruel

Katherine is my main roleplay character and the star of the show. Points will be given not only for image accuracy, but for attitude, costume design (you dont have to follow her normal outfit!), humour and sex appeal.

Personality::

Katherine Kruel is a typical pirate; she loves nothing more than sailing the high seas in search of easy gold and easy women. Easy men too. Born in the streets of london and raised on the boards of buccaneer ships, Katherine has little time to waste with manners, let alone niceties such as mercy or kindness. She'll spare your life if you're good looking, but she'll take all your money and toss you overboard the minute she tires of your sorry arse.

Having ruled her ship The Dementia with an iron (well, ironish) fist for more years than her alcohol addled brain can easily recall, Katherine is used to getting her way. Unforunately due to her *cough* loose ways, the captain ended up pregnant and had to abandon her post in order to bear the kiddie. You can draw her pregnant or not, its your choice.

Odette Kruel

Odette Kruel is the as yet unborn child of Katherine Kruel. Part of the purpose of this contest is to celebrate her birth, and actually come up with a character design. Here's an outline of her genetics and probable personality, but the rest is up to you lot!

Personality::

Odette is your stereotypical spoiled brat. Living off her mother's accumulated fortune from her buccaneer career, Odette grew up in the lap of luxury, far from the rough sea life she was born to. She's a civilized young lady who despises anyone or anything she sees as uncultured. Her passion for pretty faces (including her own) is exceeded only by her passion for pretty frocks.

Odettes parentage is a mystery. Katherine is not and never has been particularly monogamous, so even she has no idea who the father of Odette really is. All the characters below are possible candidates, so you can base her looks off any one of them, but no one can know for sure. Just one more reason for Odette to hate her mother.

Important! You MUST include this necklace in all pictures of Odette so we can be sure it is actually her. Odette is not a pirate.

Personality::

Daria is just as lusty and proud as Katherine, but a little more sane. While Daria was on the Dementia, things ran a tad more smoothly, except for the Captain and her Navigator locking themselves in cabins for hours at a time. Eventually, Katherine's complete lack of understanding as to what the word 'exclusive relationship' mean drove Daria off the Dementia and to wherever she is now. Still, they had some very good times together.

Personality::
She is a very passive girl (or well, she was passive), willing to try almost anything once. Due to her being raised by a European couple, she is usually very kind and gentle, until she gets into battle. Within battle her personality changes drastically, she goes from a passive girl, to a cold blooded murderer. She will not rest until all of her enemies are killed, or she is killed.

She was born on an island to a teenage mother, the island's customs were against teenage pregnancies and they both would have been killed, especially with the birth defect of being a hermaphrodite. At the age of twenty-two, she decided to become a pirate of her own free will.

Q: Is there an entry fee?
A: Nope

Q: Does it have to be in color?
A: No, as long as you still put effort into it.

Q: what media can I use?
A: CG or traditional paints/pencils are preferred, but outlandish entries are accepted. I'd prefer not to receive plushies or handmade dolls due to the difficulties of posting them, and please, no sprites or pixel dolls.

Q: Can I write instead of draw?
A: Sorry, but at the moment there is no writing category.

Q: Can I change their outfit?
A: Absolutely. Nobody wears the same thing every day, even stinky unwashed pirates like a change once in a while. Creative costuming WILL count towards winning.

Q: Can I submit a piece that's above a PG-13 rating?
A: Yes, but please don't post it anywhere on gaia. Email it to me at [e-mail]

Q: Can I enter more than once?
A: Yes! Yes of course! You can enter as many times as you like, but there is only one prize per piece allowed.

Q: Does it have to be one (or more) of your characters?
A: Yes, every piece submitted must have Katherine OR Odette in it, even if it has the other charactes. Please do not submit images of the minor characters on their own.

Q: Where do these characters come from?
A: A roleplay breedables shop called PIRATES.
