• Years have passed since I last saw him. Saw him, my love whom I have no memories of. All that I could remember of him is the sound of his voice. The sound of the voice that made a promise so many years ago, a promise which I’ve been waiting for him to fulfill for many years now. The promise that he’d come back for me, and be my husband. Of course, that promise was made when I was a little girl, but I was never able to forget his voice, though I forgot everything else about him………..
“Misao” Both the voice and who I guess was my father calling my name, forcing me back to reality. Looking back up from the ground, I responded to my father, “Yes?” with a faint smile for him. One thing I didn’t enjoy was my father worrying over me. He already had enough problems to deal with being the King of the Dawn country, and I was the Princess and the Priestess, for I was born with the ‘gift’ to be able to see spirits. Then my father answered me, “We need your assistance at the field.” My face was solemn. For the most part, my father wanted to keep me away from the battle field, only being called down when demons or spirits were involved.
Nodding my head to answer yes, I stood up from off my knees and put on my veil to hide my face from view. My father led me down to the field. It was a long ways walk from the palace. Along the way, the spirits tugged at my hair, tried tripping me, and flew in my way, all trying to catch my attention. They were childlike.
At last we reached the battle – field, and much to my surprise, other people were already there. Their hair was black as onyx, and their eyes seemed to shine silver. My father walked up to them first, me following in behind him. The soldiers would stay in their place until given order of the King. My father bowed curtly to whom I assumed was their leader. I was confused, utterly confused. I saw no purpose for me being here. Then I heard my father faintly say, “I only have on daughter for you, King Kyo, to bond with.” My eyes grew wide, bond with? That meant marriage, and I was only sixteen. Though I did not know of much of what happened on the battle – field, I did know that both the Night and the Dawn countries have been at war now for many years. If I were to marry the King, or even the prince, that would join the two countries together into an eon of peace.
The other king whispered something into my father’s ear, he was exceptionally quiet, this other leader. Once he was done talking to my father he walked over to me. His bangs covered his eyes from view, so I couldn’t see what color they were. I wondered if they were the same silvers’ as the rest of his country. I expected for him to say something to me, introduce himself at the very least. But no, instead he waved one hand around me, and the spirits went away. They weren’t bothering me anymore. But above that, how could he see them, only I could see them. “W-who are you?” I managed to inquire in a silent voice. He simply smirked at me and waved bye. He mounted his horse, along with the rest of his soldiers before leaving. After a few steps he turned his head about to look directly at me and smiled at me. Now, now his eyes were able to be seen. They were exactly like mine. It intrigued me to the point I could not break away from his kind gaze. His eyes were color changing, one moment silver like that of the full moon, the next they were blue like the ocean sea. They were unique in every which way possible. But then he turned back around and rode away. I let out a surprised gasp, and my eyes grew wide. That was….weird.
