• "hey, wait up!!", she said as we were walking this dirt trail for the seventh time this. It was about five o'clock in the afternoon when we were walking and we just got to the check point and turned to go home. she smirked at me. "what are you looking at?", she asked. "the sky, cause the clouds are becoming darker and darker when we walk faster.", "is that so.", she replied with such sarcasm. we were just walking to calm our selves from the rest of the week and it's been relaxing since we walked for about three hours on this trail. even though if we do get back to the trail's entrance, we still have to walk another five miles to get to our homes, but it was worth it though. it's been so long since i hung out with her for this long and it seemed as though i always wished for this to never end, but who am i to say what will happen, right? the clouds seem to hover around us as i watched it form an even bigger cloud before my eyes. i looked down to the ground and i noticed that the trail had rocks that were not there before. they looked round and rough, though had peculiar shape, like almost a marble. "hey, watch out for those rocks there.", i said and she replied with a laugh. "why are so worried, it's not like ill die if i step on them and besides we're almost to the entrance of the trail.", she said with such a reluctant smile. i don't know why i hung out with her so much during school but to think i never had the time to hang out with her like this. It was quarter to six and the clouds are cluttered together and it looks like its about to rain. The sun was still out and the horizon looked all orange and purple, like a spectrum of light that touched only those colors. "hoi, c'mon it's right there. hurry up", she said with such confidence and i replied, "hey, i shouldn't have waited for you then if you won't wait for me.". "well, that's too late, c'mon we're almost there.", she said with a smile. to think about it she never acts like this around other people even with her friends. what am i thinking, i can't like her, she's my friend and i can't be thinking about a damn relationship right now. i hurried and started to jog up and she started to run towards the sign. "ahh!", she sounded as she was near the entrance off the trail. "what happened?", i asked, "i fell down." she said. "i know that, but are you alright?", i asked in a re-directed response. "yah..wait, my ankle is hurting a lot right now.", she replied and i was afraid of this to happen. the cars weren't buzzing at this time and it made me worry. "dammit, here get on my back.", i told her, "wait, why?", she responded with such urge. ", because your ankle's not fine and well how are you going to get home with that ankle?". helping her get up, she didn't have an idea of even looking up so she can place her self on my back. her attention was to the ground and not her ankle; her eyes were all focused and her face was all red, not a light yellow like before. "hey, get on already.", i demanded. "oh, alright.", she replied and i got her up. she was lighter than i had expected since she had a physique of a swimmer and the attitude of a lion when no one was looking. it's been fifteen minutes and i noticed that the sky started to rumble. i was thinking to myself why did it have to be today, to rain. "it looks like it's going to rain. why don't you stop here and we'll wait for a car to pass by?", she asked with such confusion, "no, i think it would be smarter if we kept going to the closest store or something.", i replied quickly. "you don't have to do this, you know that right? it's kind of embarrassing for me to be carried by you since i gave you such trouble.", "well you don't have to be so hard on yourself, after all i am your friend.", i replied with such confidence. looking up at the sky, i noticed drops falling down quickly and well, what do you know it's raining. i can't believe it was raining and it was like this frigid cold lie drop and it made me feel really un-comfortable. "hey, why don't you wear my sweater?", she asked me, "well, i can't wear your jacket since it's women's size and your on my back, so keep yourself warm.", i replied and it made me think to myself, why in the hell did i pass that offer, it's freezing. the wind blew a frosty breeze and i had to stop for a second, then it was calm again. dropping water seemed more peaceful when it happened in snow form, but too bad it doesn't snow where we live. "hey, it's a car!", "HOI!!", she quickly shouted at the car, but it just passed by. It was cold and raining still and i lost track of time cine i couldn't look at my watch. i could put her down and see what time it was, but then i would have to put her on the ground. "why are you so quite?", i asked her, "it's cold..", she replied under her breathe. "why are you carrying me? it's not like you're my slave or something.", "but you're my friend and well i did plan for this walk any way so i think im responsible for this.", i replied. "well, if you say so.", she said. "why are so quite around other people, but not me?", i asked quickly, "because you seem to always keep stuff away from people and i kinda see that we share a similarity." she responded. "i guess, but there are alot of people like that and why do you act like this when im around?", "you seem to be the only person that i know that can relate to me like this, but...i don't know? just keep walking", she said as she pointed forward. where we are located at right now is like a ravine type of environment. cars pass by rarely, but usually they'll stop to help, but maybe it's the rain. i didn't own a phone at this time and she didn't either so we kinda tried our best keeping in touch with our computers. we were almost there, our town that we live in. as i walked closer and closer to it, i thought about how i never actually thought of what kind of people i would meet here. "yo, we're almost there, are holding out alright?", i asked, but she did not give a reply. the rain started to calm and i soaking wet, but i still worried if she was still with me. her arms were around my neck, though she was tightening them closer and closer as we walked forward. i think she's asleep right now. her calm breathe seems to give it out. but why was she tightening her arms around my neck, what is she dreaming of? i smirked and thought of the time we first met during our second year of high school. she was always quite and i sometimes missed those days. sitting by myself, away from the other people, just meditating on today made me feel relaxed during lunch hour, but she was just there opposite of me, staring. i called her out and asked why she was staring at me, but she looked away in an instant as i asked her. the next day i noticed her standing at my meditating spot. she was surprised as i came forward to talk to her. her eyes were fixed to the ground as i explained before. "so, what's your name?", i asked her and she just nodded. well that was the moment i made friends with the most un-deciding person. i wondered if she acts like this around me cause she likes me? wait, what am i thinking about again? this rain must be gong to my head. the rain is calm and all i see now are the lights of the town, two more miles left. i wanted to stop, but it was getting colder and i had to keep going to warm myself up. slumbering on my back, she seemed to be more peaceful this way, but it's not like her to be this peaceful when im around. she's so weird, but i feel attached to her. we pass by stores and cars and people. watching and staring at us as i walked towards our homes. it's surprising she didn't wake up yet. i didn't care what people sis, all i wanted was for her to get home so i can get home as well. i walked for what i thought was hours. i came to her neighborhood and two corners down was her home. i walked to her house with such joy. i pressed the door bell again and again, until someone opened it. it was her dad who answered the door. "what happened? c'mon in.", he said with such worry. i put her down on their couch and i explained. her mother coming over with some ho tea asked, "why did you carry her?", i replied, "cause she was hurt.". they were smiling and then her father started to laugh as i grabbed a cup. "well, at least you two are alright. say, how about we drop you off before we go to the hospital to check on her ankle?", he asked with such an optimistic tune. "nah, i'd rather walk. it's only a block away anyway.", i replied. "are yah sure? we cant let you walk i that cold again.", he said with hesitation, "it's alright, i just came here to get your daughter back to her home.". "well, thank you then.", her mother replied. "i should be heading home then, thanks for the tea.", i quickly walked out with not the thought of saying good bye to her even in her state of sleep. all was calm through out the night and i felt like i was missing something. oh yah, the time; it was dark and cold, but i didn't realize the time. i looked at my watch and it was seven thirty-six during the night. i waled for almost an hour and a half straight and didn't notice. usually, it would have taken more time than this; did i jog? i got home and i took a shower, ate dinner, and explained to my parents. they were surprised i did such thing. i laid on my bed. the rain drizzled and hit the window. thinking about today made me want to see her again. why was it like this though, warm then cold. i felt cold and it made me wonder why i'm thinking about her. i told myself to go to sleep, and so i did. the sun shined bright and it was a cold morning. mist and dew from the rain reached the grass. i washed my face and changed from my sleeping clothes. i told mom i was going to her house to check how she was doing. i went and took my time to get to their home. i wondered about last night, that moment where i felt cold when i was thinking about her. she's just my friend, right? what the hell am i thinking of again, damn relationships. i got to her door and the door flung open. it was her mother about to get to work and she welcomed me in and her father offered breakfast. "do you want anything for breakfast?", he said with such an optimistic tone, "no thanks, i'll eat some at my house.", i replied. "well, tough luck. we have blueberry pancakes.", he said trying to elude me into having some. "how is she sir?", i asked quickly with worry. "she's fine, just sprained her ankle. she'll be alright, but there was something strange about her last night. she started to talk in her sleep.", he said, "what was she saying?", i asked, " she was calling your name. she seemed to have been telling you in her dream to run to our home so that you don't get wet from the rain. we over heard it and it kind of made me think about how you reacted when you got here. she was fine and she explained everything to us at the hospital and it made me laugh.", he said. "where is she right now?", i asked softly, "she's sleeping right now, but ill tell you when she wakes up. do you want to watch some T.V., cause i'm heading into my study.", "nah, but do you guys have a deck of cards?", i asked. "yah, here yah go.", he said as he went up stairs tossing the deck from a shelf. i played solitaire for about thirty minutes now and it was about ten in the morning when i heard a yawn from upstairs. "hey", she said in a quite voice, "why are you here?". she was able to walk on her partly casted ankle. "you can walk?", i asked with some sarcasm in my voice. "yah. well what are you doing here?", she asked quietly. "i'm here to check how you're doin'.", i replied with a smirk. "yah know i had a dream about you.", she said quickly, "i dreamed of you carrying me on your back for the rest of the night until we i got home, then you disappeared. when yo carried me you said some thing so embarrassing i should stop talking about this dream.", she quickly responded as i was crossing to fix the cards. "what did i say? was it that embarrassing?". she limped to the couch and just sat there with a blank stare and a red face. it must have been embarrassing for her to make such a face. "well, you said 'i don't want to put you down' in the dream. this made m feel warm inside during the dream.", my face in such blank dis-belief, i answered back, "well, what do you mean.". "well..i kinda like you. it wasn't just yesterday, but for a long time. ever since we met.", she said quickly with a blushed face. "i know.", i responded with a keen constant. i smiled and then she started to just cover herself with a pillow. mumbling over and over, she stopped and looked up. i noticed that i felt warm when i stared at her in the eyes. we looked away quickly. "umm..how was breakfast?", she asked. i stared at her and said, "why the hell are you asking me about breakfast at this moment?". "thanks again..umm..", she said quietly. "hoi, it's okay to like someone, cause i like you too. i can't say i love you, but this is a good start.", i said with a sly content. she smiled a little. she grabbed my arm and asked me this question, "i knew that you would say that someday.". she gave me a hug and clentched me as though it was like yesterday, when i carried her. without noticing her father watching us, she quickly gave me a kiss to the cheek. "hahaha, you guys are cute together.", her father yelled with such joy. "dad!! what are you doing? this is wrong.", she yelled. "i'm just watching you two become more attached to each other. you guys are so funny", he responded. "make sure not to do anything drastic, okay?", he said as he went back to his study. her face red and blushed, i hugged her and held her tight. i felt in my heart. what does this mean to you?
