• It was the first day of summer break. I strolled down Daigon Alley, making my way to Weasley's Wheezes. Not far ahead of the girl a group of 5 giggly 15 or 16 year old girls talked in a group also making their way towards the joke shop. I smiled to myself.
"This will be helpful," I thought aloud and walked at a faster pace until I overtook and passed the girls. Then I waited near the door, glancing about as if I was waiting for someone. "Oh I think it's closed." one of the gigglies, a blond girl said as they neared the shop.
One of they other girls appeared to be more daring. "Let's go in anyway," the brave girl said with a toss of her dark curls,"what's the worst they can do?" The girl dared the others,"throw us out?"
Secretly I watched while pretending not to pay attention to the girls. The group of them walked inside the joke shop. "Perfect!" I thought to myself,"today must be my lucky day!" I slipped in behind the others, hid behind the love potion display and watched.
"Hello,"the brave girl said to the man behind the counter with his back to them, "my friends and I were wondering if the shop was going to be open tomorrow?" The man behind the counter turned around and the girl watching got a better look at him. He had rusty red hair and twinkly dark eyes and probably only 18. He was a handsome man.
"but not my man," I laughed to myself, "the one I'm after is better looking."
The man smiled rakishly at the girls, "Yes the store opens at 9 tomorrow morning," he paused for a moment, impertinently and quite obviously checking the 5 girls out, "And I certainly hope I'll see you here." He finished with a wink The girls left after some more giggling and bell tinkled as they left the shop Then I noiselessly walked up to the counter form where I had been hiding. "I'm sorry but are you sure you can't help me tonight, it's very important."
The man had turned around again and did not glance at me as he answered. "I'm really sorry but you'll have to come back tomorrow with the others."
I smiled to herself, he didn't seem to recognize my voice. "But," I pretended to plead, "I swear it's only one thing and I have to have it tonight!"
By the tightening of the man's shoulder's and his almost imperceptible sigh, I knew he was starting to get annoyed. "Look," he said a bit hotly, "I'm REALLY sorry but you need to come back tomorrow, and would you kindly leave me to my work."
He was telling me to leave and I understood that. "Oh so I have to leave do I?" Il asked in an imperious voice. This time the young man turned around.
"Oi, " He started as he turned around, "don't get huffy with me, I'll...Olivia!?" He stammered a bit at the end.
Olivia laughed so hard at his face that I had to lean down to the counter top for support. "George, I'm going to tell your mother how you treat one of your best friends who also happens to be one of your younger sister's and youngest brother's best friends and the SISTER of your youngest brother's best friend. You ought to be ashamed of yourself!" George looked a little worried as I wiped tears from my eyes. "And," I added, "I'm going to tell Fred that you wouldn't help me too!"
"Hey now," George said raising his hands out in a pleading tone, "In my defense you didn't tell us you were coming today. We would've picked you up at the station."
I laughed again, Fred always said I had a lovely wild laugh, and shook my dark head. "I know, but I was originally going to break in after dark and scare the living daylights out of the two of you. The moment just presented itself when those girls walked past." I gestured towards the windows where a warm orange/red light was falling through and casting flame colored shadows on the floor and gags from the sunset outside. "You don't have a mirror do you?"I asked," I walked all the way here from the station to get some exercise and I know I look like a mess!" George tossed me a small hand mirror that was laying around on the counter top. I snatched it out of the air and gazed at herself. I saw the familiar green/ blue eyes and the dark wavy red brown hair that cascaded about my face in an appealing disarray. Myl lips twisted into a quirky lopsided grin as I took in the way the sunset's light turned my pale skin a rich reddish orange. "Well it's not that bad,"I evaluated, "It could be worse." I tossed back the mirror. George missed and it landed with a clatter to the wood floor. George reached down to get it but I waved him off and Levitated it back up to the counter in a flash.
"If my opinion matters," George said, "and it rarely does with you, I think you look as drop dead gorgeous as usual. Not that you couldn't fix that if you didn't think so anyway. In fact I've often wondered what you really look like." I laughed a little then said, "I won't tell Fred how you've been flirting with his girlfriend but It's a valid question so I'll humor you." Olivia focused for a minute and her face changed. It was now more delicate and frail, my eyes appeared bigger in my face, and I was quite obviously several years younger, but besides that no difference was noticeable.
"I see, "George said thoughtfully, "there's no real difference accept the age, is there? When you make yourself older it's still just YOU and nothing else." I nodded smartly.
"Now for the most important question,"I said, "With a bit of a foolish grin on my face, "where is Fred? George laughed and tossed me a set of keys. "Here, since you'll be living with us for a few months a made you your own set of keys. Fred's room is the 1st on the left and the room you can use is the one next to it." Fred snickered, "I figured it would probably be convenient for the two of you." I frowned inside, he knew how I didn't condone vulgar humor, it came with being a teacher. Outwardly I smiled at him, sickly sweet. "Why George that's sweet of you. Now I can always feel near him while I sleep in my new room. What a nice way to make me feel at home!"
George looked momentarily depressed he didn't get a more violent reaction out of me. "Well, "he said, turning around with his wounded manly pride," Remember it's the first door on the left." He the pionted me in the direction of a door that said "No Admittance"
"But George," I said, pretending to be confused, "It says "No Admittance" I guess that means I have to sleep down here on the floor." He laughed without turning around.
"I'd hurry up and get up there, before Fred realizes that you're here and starts asking me if I'm trying to steal his girlfriend." I laughed too and walked up stairs. the living space upstairs was what you came to when you got to the top of the stairs. It was very nice, the walls were medium blue, there was a fireplace made of brick and the furniture was comfy looking. off to one side I saw a kitchen and on another was a hallway. I walked towards it but something caught my eye as I walked past the mantle. I walked back a few steps. It was the picture of Fred and me that Mrs. Weasly insisted upon us taking during Christmas. It was a good picture. It made me smile to think that I hed the same picture of us on my beside table. I walked over to the "First door on the left" and softly knocked. I waited a moment, but no one answered, so I just walked in. It was a decent sized room with a bed, armchair, two tables, two windows and a couple of lamps. Fred was standing near the window that faces west. His Rusty red/brown hair was, as usual messy and sexily tousled. He wore a very snug white tee showing off his decently muscled body and a pair of brown dress slacks. My guess was that he had taken off the shirt and coat but hadn't bothered with the pants after work. He was sitting in the armchair, facing away from me with a very distant and lonely expression on his face. I walked over silently and sat on his bed. It was comfortable and looked pretty with a quilt most likely made by Mrs. Weasly. I smiled because on his bedside table I saw another copy of the same picture that was on the mantle. For a while I just sat watching him as he gazed across the London skyline. The sun finally set under the horizon. I heard Fred sigh and then whisper something that sounded suspiciously like my name before he turned on a lamp, and stood up. But he didn't turn around he just kept staring out that window. I got up and ran across the room and wrapped my arms around him. I felt Fred start before gripping me tightly around the waist and planting a kiss on my forehead. I pulled my head away from his chest and looked up to say some thing to him. Before I could say anything however, Fred's mouth met mine and I absolutely forgot what I was going to say. His mouth gently moved against mine gently teasing, his tongue sending shivers down mine spine as his kisses became more and more forceful. I got a little out of breath and kissed him harder, as a fire that always seemed to start burning when I kissed got so hot it was almost physically painful. The only thing that seems to help is pressing myself closer to Fred. But it seemed like Fred had a fire of his own burning someplace and started exploring his property, under my shirt for instance, a little more fully. Eventually we both ended up out of breath, as we laid on his bed wrapped up in each other. He and I still hadn't said one word to each other. Fred turned and looked at me. "Hello there beautiful,"Fred whispered to me, "when did you get here?"I considered that a while.
"How long would you say we were making out?"I asked. Fred looked at his watch. I could see it; 9 o'clock. "Well in that case," I said," I've probably been here about 2 hours now."
Fred nodded his head silently and hugged me tighter. I looked at his face carefully, gently caressing his cheek. He looked so tired and worried; very uncharacteristic for Fred. Just then a rap came at the door and George popped his head in the door.
"What," he said looking very disappointed," nothing more exciting than making out?" At our annoyed expressions George laughed. "Well I guess I was expecting too much from you saints."
Fred watched his twin brother with a smug expression on his face. "I don't think you could call this innocent kissing, George." Fred said that and paused making me wonder what he meant exactly. Then Fred jerked me so I was sitting up too and in one swift motion pulled me tightly against him and put his tongue in my mouth. George mock screamed and fell to the ground trying to appear stone dead. We ignored him for a minute, and eventually he begged for us to stop. "Please," he implored, "You're blinding me!"
We laughed and pulled away from each other. "What did you want George?" I asked. But Fred leaned in and whispered in my ear. "If you talk to him, he'll only stay longer."
"Actually," George said, ignoring, "I wanted to tell you love birds that I'm going out on a date so you're on your own for dinner."
I smiled and Fred said,"So who's the love bird again?" George smirked,"She's not the object of my love, just my lust. Besides," he whispered aside to me," I think HE gets hit on more by the cute costumers then I do" Both of them laughed at that and I was once again struck by the amazing closeness of twins. My own twin brother and I hadn't been that close for a long time, years in fact. Harry is the "Chosen one" and I've accepted that, but it doesn't mean he's not allowed to speak to me or acknowledge my existence in any way. Pushing those depressing thoughts from my head I turned to say good bye to George to find the two of them talking together in low excited tones. "Want to share something with the class boys?" I asked in my best teacher voice. They both stood to attention and we all laughed. "You better get out of here," Fred said, "Don't want to keep your lady-love waiting." George smiled and walked out with a wave towards us. Fred and I looked at each other and we heard the back door close, then we laughed out loud again. After we finished chuckling Fred and I walked out to the kitchen and caught up. It's hard work having a relationship when you're apart from your boyfriend for 5 days a week. We always go out on the weekends which usually means I go to London. "So what do you want to eat?"Fred asked me at length," I'll cook this time." We sometimes ate at home but usually my home it was actually the first time I had seen where they boys lived since they bought it. We always rotated cooking so I knew he could cook. But still I said, "No sweetheart, it's my turn. Besides if we ever got married I would do most of the cooking so I need to get into practice!" The last bit I said jokingly
But Fred had a speculative look on his face. "Olivia, do you think you could see yourself marrying me someday?" I was getting out pots and some pasta but I put everything down and walked back into the living room. "Yeah," I said after thinking a minute, "I've kind of thought that way for about 4 months now, that I could see myself married to you that is." Fred smiled at me warmly and said, "Sorry to ask something so weird out of the blue like that."
I smiled back at him and grabbed his hand.
"Come on you softie, we can cook together." Fred laughed and allowed me to pull him into the kitchen. He boiled the pasta, while I made the tomato sauce.
"Hey Fred," I held up a spoon with some of the pasta sauce on it, "try this and tell me if it needs more oregano." He took the spoon with mock hesitance. He took a bit and swished it around in his mouth like a wine taster. After about a minute he swallowed it and seemed to be consumed in thought. "Well?" I asked,a little worried, "How is it? It needs more Oregano doesn't it?" He stopped pretending and smiled at me apologetically, "It's perfect sweetheart, sorry for making you worry." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek, "Correct answer. Oh hon, you've got sauce on your lip."
"Where? I don't feel any." Fred tried to lick it off but missed horribly. I laughed at him and said,
"Here let me." He bent down so I could get it. I wiped off the sauce with my apron and then kissed him full on the lips. Fred raised a questioning eye brow- teasingly. I laughed, "Sorry, missed a spot." He didn't seem to upset in fact considering he bent down and gently kissed me back I don't think he minded at all. He wrapped his arms around me and we stood for several minutes while I leaned my head against his shoulder. Suddenly though pot of spaghetti boiled over and we sprang to get away from the hot water. Fred picked up the pot and poured the pasta into the colander in the sink muttering curses. I cleaned up the mess with a wave of my hand. Then I got a bowl out to put the pasta in and gave it to Fred.
"Thank you." he said" Hey I'll finish up why don't you go unpack and change for dinner."
"Okay, be back in a flash I ran into my room, it was about the same size as Fred's room with only one window and very empty.
"Perfect, " I said aloud, "This will be just what the doctor ordered." I pulled my wand out of my back pocket and waved it once. then a flash of light appeared and seemed to wash over the walls coating them in shimmering white light. In a minute then light faded and my room was decorated in jewel tones and all my furniture was there. Even my picture of Fred and me. I walked into one of the two doors that appeared on the wall. One of them was my library and the other was my closet, the closet was the one I walked into.
It was a small beige room, with beige carpeting and entirely empty except for a single beige armchair. The cool thing about my closet is that it scans you and your thoughts and comes up with an outfit that not only looks great on you, but is also entirely appropriate for the occasion. I sat in the chair for 3 seconds then walked out.
I was wearing a dark purple day dress made of silk. It had a halter top, a ruffle at the bottom and was a little above knee high and I was wearing matching purple heels. My hair was done up in curls with some of them pulled back away from my face. To be honest, I looked hot. AS I stood admiring my dress in the mirror Fred knocked at the door. "Come in." I said Absently.
"Hey are you ready to eat?" He asked before taking a good look at what I was wearing.
"You look gorgeous, In fact you're ravishing tonight Love." One of the perks about having a boyfriend is that you always have someone who will tell you exactly what you want to hear. I took his arm and we walked back out to the living room that was filled with candle floating, vases full of roses and white orchids everywhere and in the corner a violin played itself. i whistled appreciatively. "You certainly are a well trained boyfriend. I think I'll have to thank your mother sometime." His face lit up then suddenly pulled into a pout.
"Aren't you going to thank me?" Fred asked in his best heartbroken voice. I put my hands gently on either side of his face. "Awww," I said gently, "Poor baby here's your thank you." And I reached up and kissed him. Fred wrapped his arms around me and I could feel his chest vibrate as he struggled to hold in his laugh as he kissed me. We ran to the couch like a couple of kids and had a great time together. Fred had some Lemon Biscuits that his mother had sent over so we had those for desert. While I was once again looking around in amazement at all the gorgeous flowers, Fred stole my last Biscuit. When I noticed it he had already put half of it in his mouth. "Hey, share you jerk!." I shouted. He chuckled over my indignation and broke off the other half of the cookie for me.
"Hey Olivia," He asked after that, "were you totally serious about wanting to marry me?" I sat up and looked at him like he had grown a third head. He actually had the guts to question whether or not I loved him. "Of course I meant it," I said a little ticked, "for God's sake I love you!" He gave me a brilliant smile. "Olivia," He said slowly, Fred had his hands in his pockets but he pulled them out now, "Would you marry me? Will you please put up with me for the rest of your life?" I realized Fred had pulled a little black jewelry box out of one his pockets. He opened it and I saw the most beautiful Antique diamond engagement ring I had ever I saw. With tears in my eyes I flung myself into his arms. "Yes , yes a million times yes!" I said to chest. Though my tear filled eyes I gazed at Fred's face and realized there were diamonds in his eyes too. "Fred," I said with a shaky laugh," Are you crying too?" He laughed and said "Well the girl of my dreams just told me she'd marry me, so I don't think there is any harm in saying yes. I am crying." We sat there laughing and grinning like fools. Until we both grew quiet and the tears fell unheeded from our faces. "So," Fred said after a while of this quiet, " Can I kiss you or what?" I grinned at him again. "Yes, " I said, "You most certainly can."
    And He did.
