• Janet Edgewood was putting her son to sleep. As she lay him down in his crib, she heard a noise behind her.She swiftly turned around, but all she saw was her shadow. She smiled.Afraid of my own shadow, she thought to herself. She turned around, and kissed her boy goodnight. She turned back around and found herself face-to-face with a shrowded figure with black smoke coming from his feet."Hello, Janet,"he said. His voice sounded like crackling fire, and his breath smelled like death.
Janet backed up against the wall."What do you want?!?!!?"She angrily shouted."You know what I want, Janet,"the man said."Your death."And with that he slashed at her with a sword of shadows. She ducked and rolled towards her baby's crib, and she took him outside. She ran all the way to an orphanage, while the man slowly followed.
She kissed the boy one last time, and sat him on the doorstep. She knocked three times and ran.Janet ran back to the man, who had only walked about two streets away from Janet's house."Where is the baby?" the man asked coldly."Dead."she told him."I tripped and he fell.He rolled a hill and drowned in the ravine.""Well," the man said,"You don't have to worry. You'll join him soon.He slashed at her again, and Janet took her last breath. The man walked away from the corpse. His job was done.
The Edgewood family was no more.
