• The day i learnt to fly by amy smith
    Chapter one

My crystal blue eyes opened slowly, regretfully. I hated mornings, they were the time you had to come back from a happy place. "Lauren, get your arse down here right now!" Thundered the angry voice of my brother from below. Dang, i guess he'd found the now empty box of sweets. The sound of feet on the stairs told me to hide under the covers, but instead, much against my will, I emerged from my blankety world into the realm of cold wooden floors and the draft from my open door.

That very moment my brother enetered, or more a red faced demon did. A loud "CRACK" resounded through out the house as he struck me. Gosh, it was only a few sweets (they were sooo good)! I cried out, my hand racing to my face to comfort the pounding red sploch on my face. Kirian, my brother, truned on his heels and zoomed downstairs to eat his breakfast. Oh no! It was monday! How had the weekend gone so quickly?! I slipped and slidded in my cheap socks across the polished floor to the wardrobe and grabbed the nearest uniform.

I changed in a hurry, it was a miricle i managed to get everything on the right way (and in record time to). My year 14-15 uniform (the size above my age, terrible thirteen) fit me snugly, but it was slightly short. Aww no i was growing AGAIN!Uniform cost tons. I scrambled downstairs to find mum looking stressed. (which had been normal since dad left her)

"Lauren honey your late, skip breakfast." She asked weakly. I noded and grabbed my awaiting bag and coat (a giant five sizes to small for me) and flung them on. "Oh mum i forgot, dinner money please!" I said, sounding like a cash machine. Mum looked on the verge of tears, "sorry sweetie, I'm running low, you'll have to make do..." she trailed off. I tryed to look incouraging as my stomach groaned, it wasn't my mums fault she wasn't a millionare.

I sprinted up the street and round the corner, sending cats scattering everywhere. Up courtsmeed lane was school, I had two minutes. Stich throbbing in my chest, I was suddenly brought to a hault. A large man all in black (well he had a black cloak on) was blocking my way. I tried to navigate past but he side-stepped to block me. I frowned, "excuse me....please" I added, remebering my manners. The man stayed put. I moaned as i heard the distant ring of the school bell. I'd get ANOTHER detention.

"Look, please budge!" I said, not meaning to shout. The man reached up, I flinched thinking he was about to hit me, when all he did was remove his cloak. This scared me more than his arm had. Underneath was the clothing of an assain, black robes with armour plates, Knives and what looked like orb tipped sticks when hung in various places, a starnge symbol embossed in all the plates. I gasped, and started to turn, but to late.

The man head locked me and whipsered something. "ascendium telosurrey" It made no sence to me, but suddenly, I was blinded by purple flashes and I felt really light headed. I screwed my eyes shut, praying it would stop. The next moment, a thud came and My ankle felt like it had just snapped. I opened my eyes and gazed around in wonder.

The walls were glowing like pearls, the white bricks seemed to flow into each other. Silver lines, traced the walls, carving what looked like acient symbols. There was a long glass table with many golden chairs placed around it. A door, made of a honey tinted wood, stood ajar next to me. The odd thing about the room i noticed was, there were no windows. Huh, were the owners of this place vampires?

A voice from my shoulder startled me and brought me back to reality. "Goodbye princess Latia." Came the hoarse whipser that had spoken words I did not understand. Something soft touched my hair and then, with a wave of heat, the figure next to me dissapeared. I stood there, waverying, slightly scared i might faint, when all of a sudden a creaking came from behind me.

"Now lauren, It's time for you to be, reborn."
