• We arrived at the ruins I'd slept in the night before and made sure the area was clear. After that I grabbed some food out of my pack, an apple and some bread. I gave her the apple and half the bread, since I had eaten earlier, and she didn't have a bag for food. She tore into it like she'd never eaten before, and I looked around to make sure we were safe.
"So what do you want?" She asked when she was finished. I looked at her, somewhat confused.
"What do you want as payment? You spared my life and gave me some food, so there must be something you want in return." She said wearily.
"There's nothing I want in return. I just didn't want to kill you and thought you might be hungry. That's all." I responded, and she looked at me in disbelief. She then turned away to look at the ruins.
"You live here?" She asked finally. I shook my head. But I did start thinking of ways of making the position more defensible so I could stay in one place, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble.
"If you plug up some of the holes, this could make a pretty good base camp." She said. I nodded. If we stuck together then we might have a better chance at survival. She voiced my thoughts, though indirectly.
"My name's Yoko." She said, looking out at the midday sun. In all of the fighting, I couldn't remember what my name was. But then it came to me again.
    "Mark. My name is Mark."
