Well, I was just innocently going to the dentist just to get a cleaning done (maybe a X-ray or two, the usual stuff). So when my dentist finished the first part of it I tried to close my jaw and it wouldn't shut, AT ALL. It was actually painful to try. She tried to place it back herself, but it didn't work. So they gave me some oxygen mixed with nitrous oxide to try and calm me down but it like did the exact opposite. So then I started to hyperventilate and couldn't feel my feet or hands which freaked me out even more so they brought over the Orthodontist on site, he looked at, couldn't do anything so it was off to the Emergency Room with a locked jaw.
Get there, waited a bit (throw in some throwing up and dry heaving from stress) and then they got me into a room, gave me a drug to try and relax it, but that didn't really work. Doctor came in, told me he was going to get some other meds. Nurses gave them to me and they worked a hell of a lot better. Then the doctor came back in and fixed my jaw pretty painlessly. The doctor said I have TMJ. YAY.
