For example, my friend likes to smash while going forward getting more wrist power but won't be able to recover quickly if it is returned.
You see, each technique is effective but always have a down side to it.
Anyways, here are some that I learned playing with pros.
Always shoot far. Shooting far forces the other player to move back making it harder for him to return without giving you a perfect air to smash. Even if the player does get it back to you the player will have a hard time running up incase the badminton has been lightly tapped.
Make them move. Tiring your opponent out is the best way to elevate your game and decrease theirs. Be careful though, some shots can go out if hit too hard so keep it short or long. If your great in accuracy try hitting them side to side.
Smash when necessary. Really, if you're trying to smash from the back the chances are that it will hit the net or it'll be easily tapped. It may be fancy but really not necessary. Just a waste of energy.
Never give up. If a birdie has been lightly tapped and you know you don't have a chance of getting it. Go for it. It has happened to me before and it completely fooled my opponent. So, just try to get the birdie over the net as low or as far as possible.
Keep practicing. Badminton is easy to learn but some skills take some time to develop. Just keep going to Badminton courts, play, have fun and enjoy the sport.
Hope you learned a few things or two in the world of Badminton and I'll see yeah around.
