Behind the name:
Arbitro uses Inu to hunt down the tournament tags using smell.

Each dog tag has a different scent that defines each one. All violaters of the Igura Tournament are found by me and my nose.
~Kau in kanji can be read as 'dog' or 'inu' basically the same thing. Puppy is good or Pochi/Tama. Those two nicknames constantly fought over by Gunzi and Kiriwar. I do not much care for either one. - Licks top of hand like a paw-

Behind the scars:
Arbitro caused them when he removed Inu's vocal cords.

De-barked for reason of being an obdient dog. I can occasionally bark softly to grab the attention of Master Arbitro for affection. The 'x' scar on stomach would be a tag left by my Master to indicate I am his pet.

~Suspision that Kau doesn't have any eyes due to Arbitro so a blindfold is required. I suspect its because he could not stand the puppy eyes or his dear pet running away on him.
