Hello there!! My name is Kururugi Kaname, and I am the female version of the main character of InuYasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask. I live in the modern era of Japan; at the Kururugi Shrine, where my family is holding the annual Doll Festival: a ritual of placing a name in a wooden doll painted with the symbol of the Shikigami (a red star inside a circle). As the dolls are burned, the legend says that you will be able to see the person whose name you put inside. Since I was late for the festival, my father sent me to the store house to retrieve more talismans. A symbol appeared on the floor and I fell through it, arriving in the Sengoku Jidai (feudal era).
After getting chased by a demon and then unwittingly destroying it with unawakened Shikigami powers within me, I finally meet Inuyasha and Myoga, who take me to Kaede's village where she, along with Kagome Higurashi and Shippo are waiting. Kagome attempts to take me back to the modern age with the Bone-Eater's Well, the gateway Kagome uses to move between the ages, but finds it does not work for me...*sigh* Ah well, at least we tried.
So with nothing left to do but search for the answers to my summoning to the Sengoku era and my way home, I joined Inuyasha and the gang in their quest...And little did I know how hard THAT was going to be...
Well, after countless battles with demons of every kind, meeting and battling alongside Sesshomaru, and defeating Naraku, I've finally found out the reason why I was summoned to this era...Utsugi.
I only wish that Utsugi didn't have to go through all that she did, and that Grandpa Kakuju, the old man who taught me how to truly wield my Shikigami powers, can now rest in peace with his love...
....I now know what true friends are, and I wish that I didn't have to leave them so soon....but at least I know that they're safe and that someday, I might see them again. Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kikyo, and Sesshomaru....Thank you all for all that you've done for me and for everything you've all taught me...I promise to never forget any of you...Even when the barrier of time prevents us from meeting...Goodbye, and thank you.
While Sesshomaru had simply watched the young kitsune leave Kaede's hut, Jaken had a much different reaction.
The imp demon crossed his little arms and huffed,
"Honestly, I'm surprised Lord Sesshomaru hadn't just killed you for interrupting such an important conversation!
You should consider yourself lucky."
However, said conversation quickly became even more interesting.
InuTaisho had looked over to his son and all of a sudden smirked like he was up to something.
This quite easily roused the curiosity of those spying visually on the two outside.
He quickly shot his hands out, while Sesshomaru wasn't paying attention and began tickling him.
The reaction was instantaneous.
Sesshomaru gave a surprised gasp and in seconds, he tipped over onto the floor.
Unable to hold it back anymore, he erupted into pure laughter.
The more he was being tickled by his father, the more he squirmed on the floorboards and laughed.
"Oh, how I've missed that sound!", InuTaisho exclaimed happily.
The unexpected thump of the little kitsune making a very sound smack against the floor caused both dog demons to jolt softly.
Both of them looked to Shippo.
However, it was Sesshomaru who picked him up with both hands and brushed away any flakes of wood from his tiny face.
Ever so carefully he passed him to his father because he knew he was worried about the kitsune.
"Are you alright, little one?
That was quite the fall you just had.", InuTaisho asked gently, as he examined his reddened face for splinters and small cuts.
"I certainly wouldn't blame him, if he thinks this is all some sort of elaborate entrapment.
After all, we haven't exactly been 'friendly' around the one another."
"You two have been trying to kill each other then....", InuTaisho correctly assumed.
".....Yes...", Sesshomaru reluctantly admitted.
A sigh left the older inuyoukai, before he continued speaking.
"At the very least, you're making an effort to get along with your brother.
I'm proud of you for that.
Besides, I love you both equally and neither of you will have to be alone again.", He said in a warm tone.
When he reopened his eyes, Sesshomaru asked a question that had been on his mind for some time.
"Why did you choose Izayoi over my mother?"
A soft sigh left the Dog General, before he began to explain.
"You can't help who you love, Sesshomaru.
I may have tried to love your mother, but being forced into a relationship with someone for political purposes doesn't always have a happy ending.
I wanted her to be happy and I just didn't think she was have been alright staying with me because of how she spoke of humans.
Besides, I also thought it would have been good for you.
Izayoi was very loving and was willing to take care of you.
After all, your mother hadn't been taught how to be a good mother.
If she had, then she could have done more to actually have made you happy, while you were growing up and even keep you company.
I'm sorry things didn't work out as planned......"
"All this time, you were actually doing this in my interest...."
InuTaisho nodded and continued,
"I just hope you and Inuyasha will get along.
He may be half-demon, but he's still your little brother.
After all, you've been alone for too long simply in our own home..."
Sesshomaru contemplated this and found himself tightening his hold around his father.
"Earlier I offered a truce to Inuyasha and he accepted because neither of us want to make your condition worse.
Do you believe we can actually be brothers.....?"
A soft smile formed on InuTaisho's lips, as he responded.
"You boys can do anything, if you put your mind to it.
I'm confident that it will happen.
After all, you took the first step and as you said, he accepted the offer."
