The other tribute from her district is Peeta Mellark, the boy who had saved her family from starvation during her mother's depression by sneaking her some bread. Before she leaves for her trip to the Capitol, she goes to the Justice Building to say her final goodbyes to her loved ones. When she says goodbye to her mother and Prim, Prim makes her promise to try to win, so Katniss complies and tells her mother to make a promise that she won't leave Prim alone to take care of herself. Madge Undersee comes in to say her final goodbye to her by giving her the Mockingjay pin and a quick kiss on the cheek. The Baker, Peeta's father, comes in gives her cookies, a luxery, and tells her he will not let her family starve. Gale tries to give her a final piece of advice but is dragged out before he can finish since his time is up, leaving Katniss to wonder about the thing Gale wanted to say so badly. The district escort, Effie Trinket, takes the two to the train that then proceeds to send them to the Capitol. While on the way to the Capitol, Katniss and Peeta are meet their mentor and drunkard, Haymitch Abernathy. The plan works and both her and Peeta are crowned victors of the 74th Hunger Games. Peeta Mellark is one of of the main characters of The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Peeta is the male tribute from District 12, picked alongside Katniss Everdeen to participate in the 74th annual Hunger Games, a competition that forces children aged 12-18 to fight to the death on live television that everyone is required to watch, to remind the nation of Panem not to rebel against the Capitol. During a pre-game interview, he confesses his love for Katniss, making her look desirable to potential sponsors. Peeta and Katniss both win, though this is against the rules, and after the games President Snow kills Seneca Crane for allowing them both to win. Peeta and Katniss have a complicated relationship throughout the series, further complicated in Mockingjay as Peeta is hijacked by the CapitolKatniss and Peeta believe that they have won the Games, but Claudius Templesmith then announces that the rule has been taken away and only one tribute can win. Peeta tells Katniss to kill him, but not wanting to go home without him, Katniss refuses. Realizing that the Capitol would rather have two victors than none, Katniss and Peeta decide to commit suicide with the remaining nightlock. Right before they consume the berries, Claudius Templesmith begs them to stop and announces that they both have won the games. At their final interview with Caesar Flickerman, the pair once again puts on that they are madly in love, with Katniss only doing so because she knows that President Snow is extremely unhappy. Peeta, however, is genuinely in love with her, as is revealed on their train ride home, when Katniss admits that she has been partially faking her feelings for him, leaving him heartbroken.

Rue was the smallest and youngest tribute, from District 11 who was selected to participate in the 74th Annual Hunger Games. She is described as being small and easily underestimated by other competitors. Rue died in the 74th Hunger Games at the age of 12 when Marvel thrust a spear in her stomach. She had formed an alliance with Katniss Everdeen after warning her about a nest of tracker jackers. Rue decided to trust Katniss only because of the pin she wore over her heart, the famous mockingjay pin. As a memorial of Rue's death, Katniss covered her in flowers and sang to her, indicating to the Capitol that Rue was not just a piece in their games.; Rue must act as a decoy and light up three fires to distract the careers away from the camp site, while she destroys the food somehow. Rue manages to light the first fire, but soon after the second fire was lit, Rue stumbled into a trap set up by Marvel, who stabbed her through the stomach with his spear just before Katniss reached her. After Katniss killed Marvel, Rue's dying wish was for Katniss to sing to her. Katniss honored her wish and sang until she died. Furious with the Capitol for allowing an innocent child to die, Katniss covers Rue's body with beautiful white colored flowers. Before she leaves, she makes District 12's gesture of farewell to Rue.

Thresh was the male tribute from District 11 in the 74th Hunger Games.
Thresh running

Strong and resourceful, he posed a real threat to the other tributes participating in the Games. Almost nothing about him is known before the reaping, aside from the size of his family. In the Games, it is highly unlikely that he participated in the bloodbath on day one. He left the Cornucopia and found a field of wheat, which he uses to his advantage by using the wheat for food and also as a source of cover so he could easily hide. The Careers knew where he was, but saw the field as a threat as Thresh would be at a major advantage if they attacked, so they avoided him

Clove was the female representative from District 2, and an expert at knife throwing. Clove along with her district partner, Cato were suited up in a type of Roman gladiator theme for the parade. The Career pack stayed together during the training sessions. During her private session with the gamemakers, Clove most likely showed them her knife throwing skills and received a score of 10.At the Feast, Clove attacked Katniss, opening a deep gash in her forehead and tackling her to the ground. She taunted her about Rue's death, and said she was going to make Katniss' death slow and torturous, beginning to cut open Katniss' lip. However, before she could do much more, she was attacked by Thresh, who had overheard what Clove had said, and gave her a fatal wound to her head by denting her skull with a large rock.

This huge, strong, brutal male tribute from District 2 was Katniss's main enemy in the 74th Hunger Games. He was probably seen as the most dangerous threat to all the tributes, aside from dehydration or starvation, including all of the other Careers. Obscene, vulgar, and relentless, Cato used brute strength for almost everything and fought hard to win. He was a Career tribute and for all of his life, had trained for the Hunger Games. During the reapings, after Clove was chosen for the female tribute for District 2, Cato lunged forward and volunteered to be the male tribute since he had confidence in his abilities and believed he could win. He was the last tribute to die in the 74th Hunger Games, being clawed to death by muttations that the Gamemakers created with the dead tributes' DNA, and finally being shot in the head with an arrow by Katniss as an act of pity. Cato was also one of the only tributes that stuck in Katniss' head at both the reapings, and the interviews, along with Foxface, the unnamed male tribute from 10, and Rue. Cato was also the one who was responsible for severely injuring Peeta's leg.e muttations brutally attacked Cato for hours, but he was too weak to defend himself and his armour was protecting him from death. After what was perceived to be hours, Katniss heard Cato's moans of pain and despair and decided to use her final arrow to end his suffering. She swung into the mouth of the Cornucopia and found a savaged, barely alive Cato at the back. He mouthed 'please' and out of pity, not vengeance, she shot the arrow through his skull, killing him instantly. Cato placed 3rd out of 24 tributes.

Glimmer's interview with Caesar went very well, as she did a great job and looked the part wearing a provacative see-through gold dress. Katniss said that she was sexy and lush, and that her mentor didn't have any trouble coming up with an angle for her. Katniss guessed that she would probably get many sponsors.
Glimmer's tribute token was the only one of the 74th Hunger Games to be confiscated. The gemstone of the ring she brought, when twisted, revealed a poisoned spike. She didn't get arrested because nobody could prove she had knowledge of the weapon.Glimmer was killed by tracker jackers that Katniss, who was originally informed of the nest by Rue, sent down on the Career Tributes by cutting off the branch that held it. Glimmer, the girl from District 4, Clove, Marvel, Cato, and Peeta were camping at the bottom of the tree where Katniss was hiding. Rue pointed out a tracker jacker nest to Katniss that was sedated from the smoke of a recently started fire; Katniss then proceeded to saw the nest off of the branch, which fell onto the group. Shocked at the sudden attack, everyone but Glimmer and the girl from District 4 escaped to the lake. While the District 4 girl ran out of sight, Glimmer called for help , but no one came back for her. Because of her many stings, Glimmer began twitching hysterically and moaning from the tracker jacker hallucinations. Unfortunately for Glimmer, her death was not quick, and for several minutes after collapsing, her heart kept beating, and she fell into a coma. When Katniss returns for the bow and arrows, she notes that she could not recognize the once beautiful girl, as the venom had bloated her body grotesquely, and her plum sized stings were oozing green pus and bursting. It is also said that when she touched one of the pimple-like wounds on Glimmer's shoulder, it disentigrated in her hand

Marvel was the male tribute from District 1 in the the 74th Hunger Games. As a Career Tribute, Marvel was strong and ruthless. It is unknown if he volunteered for the Games or was reaped. He presumably trained for a lot of his pre-Games life like most tributes from his district. During the opening ceremonies, he and his district partner, Glimmer were spray painted silver and were wearing tunics. Katniss points out that they both looked gorgeous. During training, he showed great skill at spear throwing, that made him deadly at a distance. He recieved a training score of 9.He sets a trap which Rue accidentally runs into. As Rue screams for help, Marvel throws a spear right into her abdomen. Enraged upon seeing Rue's limp body, Katniss shot him in the neck with an arrow. He attempted to remove the arrow by pulling it out, but drowned in his own blood. Overall Marvel placed 8th out of 24.
In the film, he is shot in the heart, rather than the neck
