Yeah, Towns 2 is new in like the last two weeks so it still is a little confusing and glitchy. I actually couldn't figure it out and had to ask a friend for help XD
Getting gold can be difficult so if you are wanting more, here are some options; One thing you might be interested in is Dumpster Dive, found in games. You get free items from it. Usually they are garbage but sometimes you can get something worth selling or keeping.
If you are into playing multi-player role play games, zOMG is fun and you can earn both items and gold there.
Finally, an easy and fairly quick way to make gold is by playing 'booty grab.' This is a game that happens in other users' aquariums. If you go to the Gaia Aquarium Forum and click in the threads there, there is usually a glowing tank in the first page. just click it and catch gold xD
