Sup. I have a kingsnake, crested gecko and a mountain cur. I live in the South. I am a naturalist by profession, but don't assume any of my views, stances, and arguments. My feet are firmly on the ground.
High energy doesn't mean poorly behaved, necessarily, but it's nice that she was calm. If I take Elsie to a new place, she's usually pretty chill, if she's on her short leash. She just needs a lot of activity, or she's a monster at home.
Did you find out how old she was? A lot of Belgians go grey early. Elsie already has grey on her muzzle, and she'll be 12 months old in three days. That doesn't mean the Mal you saw wasn't older, lol, just a funfact.
They're really great dogs. A lot of Mals are a lot more 'on' than Elsie is--she's way higher energy than any of the GSDs I grew up with, but she's a couch potato compared to some of the Mals I've seen.
