Hectic, recently
made it off the streets.
I live with my coworker and eventually
I'm taking over the lease in five months
Heading into a third job
life situation very soon.
So I'm kind of hanging in
there. A lot happen and
well, I'm still flying through
the storm still. I got
fkd over by my mom
and her weird rapy husband
and I kicked them out of
my life because I picked
my battles, I chose to love myself.
I chose the
streets over violence
and left her.
This all before my whole
new friends and living with her.
I'm okay but the not the best.
I try to be more thinking of what
I'm thankful for.
It's been awhile since I thought that
and it got me through yesterday. Thankful.

Yes, definitely feeling better, but still exhaustion and scary brain fog. I've moved my donation plans later to try and get healthier...don't think people need this (heh).

So many treatments have side effects that can be pretty awful in themselves. This definitely sounds miserable. emotion_hug

Your reply reminded me I should go donate blood, will see if I can do so this weekend (I've been sick, so it will depend upon my health). I couldn't for a long time because of some medications I was on, so it feels good now that I can.

I had to take the first two days of this week off because I was too sick. It's not too often that happens to me working from home, but this crud has been exhausting...even now, I am ready to go back to bed after being awake for three hours. Ugh.

My cousin has to cancel his kid's 1st bday party b/c he caught RSV at daycare. They call it kiddie COVID for a reason. I hope it stays far away from us! What are you holiday plans? Are you traveling or staying home?

Absolutely. I can’t just leave it up to them. They’re beyond overworked and overwhelmed, if that’s even possible! I hope your weekend is going well. My cousin’s baby was supposed to have his 1st birthday party tomorrow, but RSV has put a stop to that. Germs are everywhere…

Indeed advocacy is something that I took for granted. As a new foster mum to twins, I was willing to agree with whatever the social workers decided. I didn't keep after them or question them. They mostly kept me out of the loop and would randomly message me when something "came up." I didn't push back at all. I had lots of unanswered questions but felt that going along with the professionals was the best option. Now, I'm questioning everything and proposing solutions. I make the list and check it thrice!

When I was being trained for the foster certification, I was repeatedly told "You are the child's primary advocate." That was the most important advice! Social workers will tend to follow my lead, instead of me expecting them to lead. I am not only holding the line, and captaining the ship, and driving the bus, but I'm also the primary caregiver and advocate. Sometimes the birth family and social worker dislike it, but I won't cut corners when it comes to the care they deserve. If it means an inconvenience to others, so what. IDK how things are where you are, but here in NYC, the EI therapist shortage is so bad, anything that isn't virtual will likely be more time in waiting. COVID really changed things, I'm told, and many therapists simply left the city, or refuse anything but virtual. I heard so many horror stories, and the bureaucracy is even worse. For example, waiting 5+ months to get an Early Intervention evaluation appointment... Now, what chemo just began and how are you?

Your puppet shows sound like lots of fun, and more! I foster and yes, it's a unique skill to coordinate all the care team members. The 11 month old baby I have been raising is in PT and OT; the birth family is...a mess. Baby is making milestones because I fought for her to get in-person therapy; in NYC they mostly want virtual sessions and I kept pushing. Now baby is crawling -- kinda -- and making more progress. We do what we can heart

I'm glad it worked out. It's ridiculous that you can't take family leave. The USA is so far behind other nations! Keep asking and documenting. There might be a loophole regarding family leave depending on your state and the current politics. Blessings to you all.

That's wonderful news! The body can be retrained and she's still very young. The commute is a lot, but the quality of care is priceless. Enjoy the milestones as they come. BTW...
