There's a difference between hard but fair (which Atlus is known for because if you are forced to restart it was because you screwed up) and hard but unfair (balance issue, poor gameplay, poor controls, etc). The early D&D rule set was unforgiving and I agree with Spoony in that in the beginning the ruleset was just a character meat grinder. However, because of that I wouldn't consider it hard but fun like the SMT games.

Anyways, I'm just not interested in demons soul or dark soul. About the extent of challenging and micromanaging I want to go is any of Atlus' games. I just don't have the time or patience to slug through difficult games.

SMT: Nocturne and Persona 3 are examples of rather tough games. Persona 3 being one of the more tedious games I ever known where you need some sort of FAQ on hand in order to max out all social links. And the game can easily kick your a**, especially towards the end. I've known several people (Spoony is among them because I remember in a VLOG of his where he admitted to it) where they already put in 70+ hours in the game but then had to start over to the beginning because they ******** up.

I heard that Demons Soul and Dark Soul are good games but tough as nails XP I'm not really into playing tough as nails games (except maybe the SMT series).
Kind of interested in getting Xenoblade for the Wii though.... or just waiting until October for Assassin's Creed 3 to come out.

If you've actually seen the endings you know that for one thing, they all play out the same way the only difference is that the explosion colors are either red, blue, or green. Second, they don't make sense at all and goes against everything that the series had already established both in the lore and how the characters behave (because seriously, they all suddenly act out of character right at the end). Third.... it's not even an ending. It just ends without really telling us something meaningful such as how our "choices" mattered, how they impacted the galaxy, what happens to the galactic civilizations and the characters you met, etc.

And yes, the series was about free will. That is one of the philosophical issues that the series imposed on us along with acceptance, tolerance, and organics vs. synthetics (can synthetics be considered alive? Can they have free will?). The other thing that also angers fans is because the endings don't represent our choices that we've made throughout all 3 games and the current endings just renders our decisions completely moot. And Commander Shepard wouldn't have agreed with the Reaper AI by going with just 3 options presented to us by the Reapers. In fact, during the entire series Shepard has stated that s/he would not sacrifice humanity's will (as in Shepard wouldn't have agreed to forcefully rewrite everyone's DNA so they are a hybrid of organic and synthetic), Shepard would not agree to controlling the reapers, and while Shepard would would agree to destroy the reapers s/he would not do so at the risk of screwing everyone over (because Mass Relays would be destroyed which would leave space travel out of the question, all synthetics are destroyed which means that your efforts to unite the Geth and Quarians were for nothing, your friend EDI would be destroyed, and any or all Reaper technology, which all galactic civilizations based their societies on would be destroyed). Not to mention it would also mean that Shepard agrees with the circular logic of the reapers which can be summed up as this:

Course, the only rational explanation for the endings would be Indoctrination but we don't really know that because then that would leave the Mass Effect trilogy without an ending.

I didn't say 2001: A Space Odyssey was bad. I'm just saying that if you took the ending from that movie and had Star Wars or Star Trek (the series, most of the movies sucked) end the same way then there you go. The ending(s) to Mass Effect 3 were ripped directly from Deus Ex. Seriously, it's exactly the same endings as Deus Ex straight down to the color choices for those endings. And I really like the Deus Ex series too. But that kind of s**t don't work in Mass Effect.

These things are accurate to how people feel:

Also, I heard about the sequel to Wasteland. And I also heard about an Enhanced Edition of the first Baldur's Gate being worked on too.

I've seen it along with anything else that talks about the endings.
But you know what? I'm still hurting. No joke. That was how much I cared about the Mass Effect series. If you can imagine either Star Wars or Star Trek ending the same way as 2001: A Space Odyssey then that's pretty much how ME3 ended. A whole lot of bullshit that destroyed the entire lore and universe.

A Really Bad Idea

Pretty much. I'm actually not that period-fussy to call myself a baroque fan, specifically, however.
