This shadowy figure appeared on Gaia, interesting few to none of the inhabitants. His complete history is unrevealed at this time.

 Description/Picture
Alaric is slender, with skin already paler than normal rendered a still lighter and more colorless shade by his constantly keeping indoors and out of the sun. He has sharply defined features, thin lips and angled jawline. His jet black hair reaches about halfway down his neck, falling in such a way as to obscure his face when seen from the side. Set back into his head are a pair of dark and piercing eyes, which perpetually dart about from place to place as if desperately searching for something. However, Alaric is rarely looking for anything in particular when he does this, just picking up information on his surroundings. He looks far skinnier than he should, and the body shape is only accentuated by his usual choice of clothing.
Normal attire for Alaric is a casual long-sleeved shirt and pants, and oddly, a formal tie. When he works in the lab officially, he wears a standard labcoat. His clothes are usually rumpled and untidy. However, he never leaves his tie hanging loose about his neck or shows up wearing half his clothes anywhere. Simply put, removing wrinkles from his clothing has never been one of his top priorities. No matter where he is, he tends to keep the same unstylish style, having little regard for fashionable standards. When and if the occasion calls for it, which it rarely does, he will pull out a slightly outdated formal suit and call it a day.
Specter appears as a swirling coalescence of dark energy, almost tangible somehow and rather well-defined, but still hazy around the edges. His features have completely vanished, though seen from the side his profile can still be easily distinguished and possibly recognized by anyone who knows Alaric.
 Personality
Specter is usually fairly quiet. With an impressive vocabulary and little regard for the feelings of others, he has never had any problems expressing himself, but he tends to shy away from speaking when possible, preferring the company of books to most social interaction. Yet he still pays great attention to most of what goes on around him, so people should beware about letting things slip. Even if it seems to be a harmless bit of information, he will usually tuck it away in his memory, and when he has enough related little pieces of information, eventually he will put them all together. If it suits his purposes, he will bring out what he discovers and use it against people when they least expect it. He has a very hard time trusting people. But taking advantage of them is a skill he is well-versed and practiced in.
He has enjoyed studying science since he first learned to read, and has considerable talent in that area. Whether said talent is drawn from something innate or constant study could be debated. The results, however, are indisputable. He eagerly studies almost anything he finds worthwhile, and has acquired an astonishing amount of knowledge in many areas. But he is enthralled with chemistry. Though his obsession with the subject is fairly obvious even to the casual observer, he tends to be laid-back when speaking of his own ability, and though he could rival almost anyone in perpetually leaping to the occasion and answering questions on the matter, he often sits back and lets others speak instead.
Specter has a very vicious sense of revenge. He is usually quick to let something pass if he recognizes it as an accident or unavoidable, but constant irritation or insults will bring out his bad side. And that can very well spell disaster at times. If he has a logical reason for hating someone, he might act as if all is well for an extremely long time, but when the opportune moment arrives, and if he no longer has any use for the person, he can and will make them sorry.
Strangely enough, though one might not think it to look at him, he is keenly aware of everyone else's affiliation and social position. However, he is far from looking down at the poor and up to the rich, for example. Rather, he sees all individuals as separate from the rest, and studies them for who they are, though over time he has come to view people from different groups as usually having a basic set of characteristics that set them apart. Logic is behind the conclusion. But though his thoughts remain neutral, his actions usually suggest otherwise. He knows which way the winds are blowing, and whenever necessary, he moves with them.
 Main Power
Specter has abnormally high intelligence, allowing him to solve problems and create solutions usually within split seconds. His connections to a classified military weapons development lab have allowed him access to information most people do not have, which he uses to his advantage.
 Secondary Powers
Specter has a high tolerance for, approaching complete immunity to, psychic powers and other mind-based attacks. He has an alternate form which appears as a swirling coalescence of dark energy.
 Vehicle
Typically drives a Dodge Viper SRT-10 as Alaric Martin, but uses a variety of other transportations when occasion calls for it.
 Bio
Alaric Martin was a young chemist working as a research assistant in a classified governmental weapons development laboratory. He looked up to the head of the department as his mentor, striving to learn everything he knew. When the lab was attacked, the head of the department, who had grown attached to the young man, saved his life, but in so doing revealed that he was in league with the villains all along. Not willing to be rid of Alaric, for he saw potential in him and had never been one to kill without reason, but not wanting him to know of his part in the plot either, the department head erased his last memories through an experimental procedure. It functioned as expected, but also triggered a latent gene in Alaric's DNA, enabling or indeed causing his first transformation into an alternate form, though this happened at a later date.
Alaric continued his life without ever learning of exactly what went on. Though he was suspicious at losing part of his memory, it was easily explained by his having been injured during the attack. The lack of memory continued to disturb him, however, and he often woke in the middle of the night unable to sleep, shivering with a remembrance of the attack that was wholly physical instead of mental. Positive that something had gone wrong which he could not understand, and losing more sleep with every passing day, he devoted himself to constant study at all hours. Eventually, the combination of lack of sleep and his slightly altered physiology triggered his first transformation.
Shocked at what had happened, and unable to control it at first, he kept to himself more than ever until he learned to consciously manipulate his body into changing form. More cynical than he had ever been, he came to abhor what he considers purposeless behavior. It is for this reason that he has become what some view as a villain rather than a hero. The recklessness and thoughtless bravery that most "heroes" show he finds incomprehensible and utterly foolish. At least he can understand the motives of the villains. And one side has to win eventually. It might as well be the logical one.
