Well, I'm not about to listen to the opinions of fools and ignoramuses. Most Americans believe that humans and dinosaurs co-existed (which both you and I know is complete rubbish). American kids and young adults, and even a great many of the older adults, are hyper-sensitive egotists who tend to overlook things that are stated clearly while reading things in between lines that exist only in neuroses, and tend to be very selective in their attention and interpretations.

In this case: I complain about a GENERAL ignorance people have toward psychological disorders and state aloud at THE POSSIBILITY that you may be the same, which is hardly unreasonable given the abysmal statistics. So, you choose to selectively misread what I clearly stated, with its qualifiers and civil tone, etc. and skew my merely talking about something into an intentional act of personal effrontery.

This is part of why I don't bother with people that much, most of them are so damn ignorant, duplicitously self-absorbed to the point of hypocrisy in social modalities and hostility wafting out of every jostle of an insecurity or fear, and bristle in fear or indignation whenever they're confronted with someone who has brains, manners, and is challenging and not some cookie-cutter output from some social strip mall.

Do you really think I'm TRYING TO sound smart? Or am I actually sounding smart and you're uncomfortable with it and are reacting in hostility against it because of you comparing yourself neurotically and unfavorably to me? I don't try to sound like anything, because I'm not some kid out to find myself or impress people; I do what I do, like, what I like, and say what I say, and that's it. And I'm sure as hell not going to be saddled with others' psychological disorders, meaning I'm not going to be unreasonable in the compromises I make to ensure I don't accidentally stumble over a tripwire in someone's vast minefield of unresolved personal issues or misdirected angst. I am hardly responsible for whatever issues you have with your intelligence or education, personal vocabulary, or whatever set of conditions and events precipitated your tendency to react in hostility whenever someone doesn't talk like some idiot trying to sell you teeth-whitening strips on TV, who is interested in talking about things a bit more profound and personal than the average guy, and who is clear, direct, and honest

Because I'm also not a fool, at least not in that regard. In other regards, though, I'm very much one.

That was all your interpretation. I didn't explicitly state or obliquely imply that you are naive or ignorant, and I didn't think that you necessarily were. I was just talking about something from my side of the fence, and for some reason you decided to turn it into some intentional effrontery, personally directed against you. Going around in life looking for enemies and conflicts that don't exist, tilting at windmills to put it metaphorically, is something I've done a lot of and I'm glad I'm finally starting to get over; it's very stressful and isn't at all charming or engaging to others.

Wow, talk about an over-reaction! I didn't in any way state or imply any condemnation of your joy or of your outlook in life, nor did I say that you haven't had any problems or issues — it was only conjecture and it was clearly stated as such. So, yeah, now you're going to fly off the handle and curse at me like some petulant pre-teen, when all we were doing was having a civil discussion about something? Seems your minefield may need tending, and an apology would also be appropriate. Is this how you deal with everyone?

Of course, but realize that with very different biology this wouldn't be so easy for you to do, maybe even almost impossible. People who tend to be more normative, or baseline-functional I guess you could say, tend to feel that people with legitimate psychological problems are whiny, gloomy people who choose to be that way and garner some kind of perverse pleasure from it. Being such a one, I find it rankling, to the point where I've become a mostly solitary and aloof person so as to avoid such unpleasantness.

A pretty thing for someone to suggest who has possibly had a fairly easy life compared to most, and whose neurology is probably predisposed toward the upbeat. Not that I'm criticizing you, only pointing out how such sentiments can seem trite, absurd, and egregiously ignorant to people who have suffered extensive trauma, have messed up wiring in their head, or just have had lousy luck and are on hard times.

Still, it's nice to hear someone not be fashionably jaded and morose, like so many teens and young adults seem to have fallen into.

I'm curious, what do you mean by "living life to the fullest"? It's just a very trite-seeming advert for a single girl, like the stuff I see on Craigslist and OK Cupid whenever I bother going on those sites. I don't live my life to the fullest, but then life determined for me that I wouldn't so criticisms of others are as ignorant as my own protestations.

English degree is probably one of the hardest degrees to get D: One of my friends is an English major and she has to write papers all the time. Just the amount she tells me makes my hands hurt, haha. I can't stand writing papers, as you can imagine, b/c I just don't like writing words so much...numbers are my pleasure, haha. But anyway, child psych is definitely an interesting field to go into instead. Best of luck with it!!

And yeaaaa, I'm gonna have to try that. My local high school (same one I went to) is pretty bad though. I had to tutor this girl across the street a bit back in math and I had said I applied for a teaching job at the high school and she asked me if I was ok in the head xd It's apparently gotten even worse since I graduated from there about 5 yrs ago...which scares me, haha. But yea, gotta do what you can.

Eh the weather is not bad, I like it. But I don't like the people as much. When I lived in michigan i had lots of friends. Ever since I moved here, I barely have any and people here treat you differently. I also miss the scenery from up north. The palm trees and beaches are nice but its just really flat land with lots of swamps.

I live in a state where they proudly wave a giant confederate flag over the interstate. I live in a state where a crazy preacher thinks that burning Korans on 9/11 is good idea. I came here 3 years ago because of the weather. i used to live in Michigan where winters are horrible. But sometimes I miss Michigan because its more secular and there isn't as many crazy drivers or lunatic religious fanatics.

Yeah I agree that it has been increasing through the years suddenly. Some people I know don't practice religion simply because its irrelevant to our time, or they weren't raised to or just don't care about it. Another reason why church going is on a decline is because the rapid advancement in communication and information available that's easy to access. But I see this as a good things anyways. I'm not like a god hater, I dislike more is organized religion because it's stumps human development and has caused lots of bloodshed. lol aliens. who knows but idc. I'm glad your did research, I wish other blind sheep could too. Heh, my mom has been a conservative SDA ever since i was born and it was quite stupid. She didn't bother studying xD
I must make plans to move to seattle

Aw jealous. That's never going to happen in florida. the south sucks xD
Anyways, about your post you made. I'm in atheist. But not cause my parents made me go to church and rebelling. I simple began to learn about the origins and history god and religion in which I learned that its fabricated. So there was no point in following it. I know many ppl assume its cuz you're just "mad at god or mad at mommy and daddy" But some people just realize its stupid. like me. =]

Ahhh, I too went to a community college. It was....good and bad, mostly bad, but eh XD And that is quite an interesting major :O What made you decide to major in that? smile

As for me, Math Education for high schoolers. I am currently jobless though, which totally sucks D; I tried to get one but got turned down every time I got close to getting the job. Sooooo, I'm kinda really down about it b/c I'm the only one I know of that just graduated college and doesn't have a job teaching
