I'd love to read you query letter, it seems interesting. I was a bit reluctant to ask considering you're finding an agent for it and you know.. spoiling. lol
I'll send you an e-mail. I don't know if you use a mac and a pages app or not, so I'll copy paste the text to you.
I didn't know you were keeping track of Keiiii's contest as well! I was actually going to join Razumi's too, and I was sending him drafts left right and centre then suddenly time slipped through my fingers. I only finished the bust of his character, but I was planning to go full body with her dragon form. Sigh.. such an ambitious project gone to waste. Maybe when I'm free I'll finish the artwork and send it to him.
Thanks for the complement on Mana haha. Towards the end of the contest I got a little frustrated with the piece because I was rushing. I was going to have a much better background, and her feet looked horrendous compared to what I could have done if I put more time into it. Come to think of it, haven't been on photoshop for ages! I sending comments to you back and forth, sorry for the late reply. Currently in exam week but I'm in chill mode memorising a speech.
That's totally fine! How long is your novel? I don't think I asked, but what is it for? Is it a personal project? Congratulations on getting it done, though. You must have felt this wave of relief. It's the best thing ever when it's the final home stretch. heart
And I know exactly what you mean - I'm as much, or even more, an artist than I am a writer. My interest in completing my bodies of work tends to gradually lessen. I get sick of looking at it and I lose motivation completely. I guess that accounts for half of my artworks being left incomplete. Frustrating stuff. I'm actually finishing my short story tonight (I have to get it drafted before the end of the week) so you could read it, if you like. It'll be like a five minute skim because there's a 1000 word restriction (submission restrictions taper my creativity, I had to cut down on so many crucial lines).
I've got a variety of short stories ranging from the low hundreds (300 or so) to the thousands (5000 or so). lol Although you may be used to meticulous details, in retrospect I think it's something I have to cut down on. My sensory imagery could be much better, and including too many details can stifle interpretation on the reader's end.
I know this is a really random question, but what position do you tend to find yourself in when you're reading?! If I try to devour half of my book in one sitting, I find that I have unbearable aches everywhere. There's always a muscle group being strained. If I'm in a supine position, my neck can rest but my arms start to ache. If I'm sitting up, my neck being craned forward kills. I think that's the only thing that dissuades me from reading too much. I also checked out Human.4 like you recommended, and it seems interesting! I'm stuck on Dracula right now, though (neglected to read the original novel, I read the semi-condensed play instead).
I'm almost done with my basics, and then I'll transfer to a local Uni to go for a linguistics degree :3 I figure it's best to get a degree close to the field I'm interested in haha.
From what I've seen and be told, rarely to people work in a field that they studied in. So I have nothing to lose by going after what I want haha.
woahhh your memory is amazing o- o I'm surprised you remember that much about me hahha. My memory isn't too good haha, I'm not doing anything lately except for college work :3
I'm not really interested in pursuing writing, but I've gotten complements on my writing before o- o some in college, and some from friends when they see me vent hahah.
What surprises me is how man things people think I would be/am good at. I think it's a perspective thing lol. I find myself interested in so many things that it's hard to know what to
focus on first.
o- o that sounds interesting haha, you'll have to tell me how it works out!
I always had a hard time finishing short stories, and they would always be colored by a tv show or something that I was already interested in lol.
thinking about it, I may do better at non-fiction related fiction. where you use real details with fake characters haha.
