About
Hiya y'all. If you're reading this then you found my page. I'm just your average college student, for the most part. Not sure how many college students read Bushido and decided to tweak it for themselves.Looked at a lot of philosophies before I decided on which I follow. I go by the idea that I have free right to make whatever choices I want with my life, but only as long as I do not infringe upon the choices of other people. By the same token, I also believe that my choices should not be infringed upon. Along with this I also believe that certain things are wrong no matter the perspective, that there are objective goods and evils. I'm essentially a humanist.
That's the serious stuff, now that that's out of the way, on to other things. I like anime, and I like manga. Seriously, they're like novels but with pictures and a hell of a lot less convoluted than the comics Marvel or D.C. puts out (no insult to them, but following their storylines gets really difficult). Certain series by Vertigo, however, are just fantastic.
I have taken various martial arts all my life, and was until recently enrolled in Cha Yon Ryu. I had been there for a good five years. It was fun, and I enjoy the process of growing stronger. Another hobby of mine is writing. I enjoy writing the genre that I enjoy reading, and that would be epic fantasy/science fiction. I have been at it for a while, at least to the point where I can look at my first works and groan about how bad they are.
I enjoy stories of the reluctant hero, the guy who becomes the protagonist through the situation or just does good for his own benifit, like saving himself or saving someone he cares for. The idea of the paladine, he who does good because of some religious idea or doing good for some altruistic reason doesn't interest me very much, and few stories have a hero like that who is actually well written. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think altruism really exists.
I am decidingly atheist, not having a religion and being skeptical of the idea of god. Not a shot at anyone who actually believes, but it just doesn't make much sense to me.
There's my little rant about me, I hope you enjoyed it.
