About
Hello and good evening, I am Professor Aurora Sinistra. A witch and member of the Astronomy department at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I teach my students at midnight at the topmost tower of Hogwarts Castle. I teach the names of stars and constellations, as well as the movements of the planets and other astronomical matters.I am a good friend of the Substitute Professor for Care of Magical Creatures, Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank. She is quite a lovely witch and I do so enjoy our talks over afternoon tea. You will often see me at the Start-of-Term Feast sitting next to the Herbology instructor, Professor Sprout.
When I attended Hogwarts, I was placed in Ravenclaw by the Sorting Hat. Which was ever so fine. I do love a good book. Knowledge is power, as Professor Dumbledore once told me.
Wand: 9 1/4 in. Willow, Unicorn hair.
House: Ravenclaw
The Latin "sinister" meaning " on the left." In ancient cultures (such as the Babylonians), the left side was often associated with evil, black magic or bad luck. We wonder what this means for our dear Astronomy teacher! The left side is also associated with females, as in the "distaff side." The left side of the brain is responsible for both logic and analysis - important qualities for Astronomy.
