And I just doubled it in size, which wasn't well-thought-out - since I already have major memory problems. Did I tell you this laptop was only given half the memory it was supposed to have? That was quite a surprise when Jens came over and tried to load linux. A good one - but still a surprise.

Did I send you the picture? My Bug Report was hysterical. I think Lexy has me sorted out though, you have to empty the house and do everything in order, saving as you go. I did that to a point, but I guess it get ore complicated with the tree. Am going to see if it works tomorrow.

Whoa! My understanding was that the Dutch went to Britain in the 1600's and the Brits got Christmas from the royal family, who were by that time Germanic in origin and not from the House of Orange. And we got it from the Brits and other Europeans, many different theads contributing. Generally speaking, the whole business grows out of the interplay of pre-Christian beliefs and Christianity's attempts to replace the older traditions. (Like, lambing season is not in midwinter...but the church calendar already had Easter, and Winter Solstice was...a problem...highly competitive.) ^^

Definitely the name Santa Claus comes from Sinterklaas. Always wondered how such a small country had such a major influence. Am not all that clear on the history of the low countries. Henry VIII's queens, the trading wars and coffee empire, colonies in what are now New York and South Africa, the real Indies. But I only know bits and pieces. Had a co-worker in college who was Dutch-Egyptian-Indonesian-German. Wish we'd stayed in touch, but we were all so busy...
