Autumn '09
So many memories floating around in my head,
Just like the earth toned leaves in the air.
The smell of them is as intoxicating as the memories.
Dry crumbling leaves, under my feet.
The smell of 'death', has never smelt so sweet.
The tingling of little needles on your cheeks,
when you walk outside for the first time in what feels like weeks.
The sudden urge to be walking hand in hand,
with someone special, but thats not the plan.
No more early meetings, coffee to share,
Sweet nothings whispered with care...
Yes thats all gone now, but I swear its not that bad,
Though there are still times I look at my mittens and feel sad,
I always remember what Promises I've made to all, and you,
and I know eventually all will be renewed.
Why such a solemn salute to my favorite season?
Why, there is no specific or underlying reason.
I'm just covering what fall meant to me and still does,
classes, friends, quiet moments, all a fuzz....
But it's still beautiful,
Its still cold,
Still colorful,
Still Mine.
It always has, always will be.
No one can take it away from me.
No matter what.
Sometimes I feel like a Pocket Full of Ashes, weighing you down,
