Good that they don't try to upsell you. 3nodding Different stores seem to have different business models, like I had mentioned in my post.
I really do hope they do both what you and I said. No upselling? Cheaper prices? ******** Starbucks being a big, evil corporation - I'll buy it! In the mean time, I really like Urbane Tea Company. They have some really nice blends - my favorite is their Blueberry Crumble and Walnut. The first one really does taste somewhat like a Blueberry Crumble and the Walnut one is more like a hazelnut flavor even though there's no hazelnut in it. It's still really good, though. In fact, I have a cup of it right next to me.
I guess they just didn't care for the Mega Man series. No biggie - there are people like that out there that won't admit it because of how terribly unpopular that opinion is. I get enough s**t just for saying I didn't play a Mega Man game up until a year or two ago.
Someone reminded me where the max users message is. Bottom of the main Forums page. Who is Online? - 9896 users. (8198 visible, 1597 hidden, 101 guests).
Gaia has 2,137,520,922 articles posted with 27,019,910 registered users.
Most users ever online was 77,655 on Sun Nov 07, 2010 4:31 pm
Just an observation that I think site usage is way down. I'm wondering if they alienated too many users. The numbers seem pretty low to me compared to in the past - even taking into account it is during the school year. I'm PST. Most mornings the count is around 7-8k. Afternoons and evenings when the kids get home from school it is typically around 17-18k. I realize time zones / countries vary but Gaia seems heavily influenced by US users / US time zones. I realize number of users at any one time does not equal number of unique users in a 24 hour period but that was also true when the numbers were higher. Many of those users are not making cash purchases (probably) and lower numbers has to affect ad revenue. Thus it is a strong indicator that both of Gaia's sources of cash are down. Couple that with another recent major layoff and misc. abandoned projects and reading between the lines Gaia does not seem very healthy as a company.
Also - remember for their anniversary they had a big push to try to get everyone to log on during a certain time and see if they could get the most users ever logged on at one time? Yeah, what became of that? Because I never heard boo about it afterwords. If they had succeeded I think they would have been loud about it. But even if they failed I expected some sort of "Not quite but good try" type of announcement. Instead they apparently buried it which suggests the turnout was embarrassing to them.
Maybe I've got it all wrong but I don't think so. (and currently - 9,546 Gaians Online)
Also - also (haha) Didn't the home page used to show a message about most users ever online at one time? That seems to have gone away. Possibly the comparison got too embarrassing. Or possibly I'm forgetting where that message is located.
