Got some math for you guys.
Say humans pass 3493g of atoms through their body per day (3200g water 130g carbohydrate 51 g protein 32 g fibre 80g fat).
Say the average human has a mass of 50 000g
3493g/50000g = 0.06986 = the number of grams of food processed per day per gram of body mass.
Assuming most dinosaurs were cold-blooded, they would require 13 times less food per gram of body mass.
So that’s 0.005374 grams per gram per day.
There were 4x10^16 kg x 10% = 4 x 10^18 g of dinosaur at any one time.
So the entire superorder Dinosauria consumed 0.005374 x 4 x 10^18 g = 2.150 x 10^16 g of biomass per day (and excreted the same amount, as the total mass of dinosaur on the planet was more-or-less stable).
This is 100 x (2.150 x 10^16 g)/( 4x10^19 g) = 0.05375% of the total biomass in the world, per day.
So 99.94625% of biomass was not eaten by a dinosaur on any given day.
Dinosaurs ruled the Earth for 60266250000 days.
So the percentage of biomass not eaten by dinosaurs in that period of time is 0.9994625 ^ 60266250000.
This number is so extremely tiny that a calculator is unable to calculate it and no book can display it written in full.
Therefore, unless considerable biomass has been added to the biosphere since the Cretaceous, every single atom of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, phosphorous etc. on the Earth’s surface has at some point been in a dinosaur.
Every. Single. Atom. Is. Dinosaur.
