About
I was running forward, a golden gem attached to a string bounced around my neck. I didn't know what I was running from but I knew I had to get away from something that threatened the very existence of the world."You can't run forever Ven!" I heard a voice yell. I didn't know who Ven was but I heard myself yell back.
"You won't get the gem from me Zander!" I yelled. A sword slapped against my leg. Somehow I knew it was mine.
I found myself up running through a broad forest, dodging roots and low hanging limbs. I brought out the sword and swung at some of the branches to make a better path.
"Trying to dodge me out here won't help!" I heard the man named Zander yell back. I knew he was right but I kept running anyway. At least until I ran into a clearing where the only way out was the back the way I came and that was definitely not an option. There was a single tree in the clearing and I quickly ran behind it.
I heard someone running through the entrance of the clearing and slow to a walk as they entered. It was Zander. I also heard the sound of a two swords getting unsheated at the same time. I knew it was a stupid idea but I couldn't hide anymore and I was sick of running away. I stepped out and confronted Zander.
He was a well built man with broad shoulders. His hair was short and a dark blonde and he had sideburns and a goatee. He wore a set of full iron armor and held a longsword in each hand.
"So the coward finally comes and faces his face," Zander said, a slight grin on his face.
"You won't get the gem," I heard myself say, this time with a stronger and defiant voice. "This gem was given to us to be a help to all of the world, not so that people like you can use it's power to destory the world and twist it to the way you want it!" I held up my sword and face him.
"I'm sure you don't have a choice in this Ven," he told me, a sneer on his face. He charged, swinging both swords at once. I quickly jumped back to dodge the blow, only to deflect another blow with my sword.
"You will find that I do have a choice in the the matter, Zander," I said as I jumped back again. I grabbed onto the jewel and felt a strong surge of energy flowing through me. "This gem will give me the power to stop you and change the world for the better! And when I destroy you I will destory this gem as well!"
"I won't let you do that Ven! That gem will be mine!" Zander yelled. He charged forward again, swinging both swords at the same time. I held out my sword and aimed it at him as he charged. Two seconds later he fell to the ground as a bolt of electricity shot out of the sword and smote him in the chest.
"Sorry Zander," I said calmly, lowering my sword. "You still do not have a choice in this." Zander tried to stand up again but he couldn't. "I told you that I wouldn't let you use the power of the gem and now the gem is going to die with me. I'm the only one who can wield it sucessfully and I'm the only one who can destroy it."
"I...won't...let..." Zander said. He stood up using his sword as a balance.
"You're too late," I said, gripping the gem. Another surge of energy shot through me. This time it was even more powerful. The gem contorted and surged in my hand. I could feel the core of the gem deteriorated in my grip. It grew burning hot and I gripped it harder. Zander started to rush...and then the gem exploded, destroying everything in the clearing, including Zander and myself.
