Soapbox

A full time physician employed by GeneCo he works from home as he has an ailing daughter to tend to. He was a doctor and a surgeon prior to the epidemic but the cosmetic business is left to the Genterns, you might say he's more of a.. recovery specialist.
Nevermind that. For the better part of seventeen years it's been just him and Shilo. He misses Marni. When she was dying in his arms, he was already long dead. He misses picnics. He misses tea in the sun room and the art of hand holding. He even misses Mag, who could see nothing and yet everything, though he has obtusely avoided her for several years perhaps she'll forgive him one day. He misses some semblance of hope and life when it felt anything but frayed. In some ways he has come out of it stronger than before, in most ways he feels like normal life is slipping through his fingers like sand. He refuses to let sickness take Shilo, this could be seen as admirable but he is the very cause of her sickness and puts on a charade of stalwart protector, few even know she survived her own birth. Nathan knows he is losing her in other ways. Just like dear dad she's older now, sadder too, and she's prone to acting out. He tries his best to keep her happy, he has raised her with good intentions. He doesn't have to convince himself of the terrifying realness of the city, he knows it like the fine leather of his Repo uniform that is to say -inside and out- , and it's all he needs to assure himself that his further imprisonment of his own daughter is not misguided. This city isn't much more than the businessmen in fine suits faking concern for the issues while everything is rapidly decaying from neglect, it no longer makes any decent effort to cover up the nightlife hiding in the alleys. This city is addicts, scalpel sluts, outstanding debts, and the bodies are stacked so high around them there's nowhere else they can go.

I'm a doctor, Nathan, I'm sure I can manage something that will assist you. I care for Shilo as your late wife would have wanted me to. Therefore I'm here in case SHE needs help. If you need equipment I can find more suitable things for you, as for an electrician I can try a hand at it, but I don't know anyone other than a few backhand surgeons....And I think it's best if I not see her. She's already got one bad example in her life, she doesn't need another.
