About
22/Female/Bi/Taken/Brooklyn/Unitarian/ENFP/Democratic Socialist/Social Worker/Someday-to-Be The Next Jodi Picoult
My name is Meredith. If I were using the Welsh spelling, my name would be Muradudd and I would be a boy, since it's a boy's name in Welsh (the female version would be "Murada" or "Merida"--like the crazy ginger from "BRAVE"). I usually go by "Mer".
I'm most easily described as a jack-of-all-trades and master of few. My first account on this site was active from late 2003 (or early 2004, can't remember) until 2005-2006 (when I deactivated it)--I'm back after a several-year hiatus because some people never learn, plus because one of my IRL friends is also recently back on this site, so gotta find out what that's all about.
I am an artist and writer. I am often described as uncannily perceptive--like I'll meet you and share some small-talk, and I'll know a startling number of secrets about you within 5 minutes. I play 4 instruments (piano, guitar, bass, and drums--although I'm not as good on bass, I'm pretty good on the rest) and I also sing. I love alt rock, classic rock, classic pop rock, metal, screamo, ska, punk rock, dubstep, electronica, rap, death rap, and of everything else a little bit of everything. I have lived in 5 different states, but I lived for the largest part of my life here in New York. I love cooking and baking. I make and sell soaps, jewelry, and gifts for pocket money. And I've been told that I'm a true-blue New Yorker, although I've also been told I'm much too friendly to be a real true-blue New Yorker.
I'm often described as quirky, hyper, charismatic, creative, funny, sweet, and caring. When people say I'm a "total New Yorker" they're probably referring to the quirkiness, frequent use of sarcasm, street smarts, and comprehensive knowledge of the city's public transportation more so than they're talking about the kind and caring part of me. Stereotypical New Yorkers are apparently antisocial douchebags.
Also I'm something of an Aspy. Just letting ya know. Aspergers Aboard.
I am known for saying stuff like "Peace, love, and all stuff rainbow tasty and awesome" on a regular basis. I am also known for randomly switching mid-sentence between English, Spanish, and Japanese. I can't help it--sometimes the word I want to say, I know how to say it in Spanish or Japanese, but there's no clear term for it in English, so my brain's autopilot switches me over. I also say, "In other news, there is now water in the oceans" and "No s**t, Sherlock" often during Captain Obvious moments. Oh, and I dislike people who say "PIN number" or "ATM machine"--the ******** redundancy hurts to even type.
Anyhow...to all who visit: peace, love, and all stuff rainbow, tasty and awesome.
