Hello. Hope you are doing well. I have a question, what is the name of the item on your avi that is the gray ears? I think they are really cute, but can't seem to find them/their name.

Yeah, it is. D: Though, granted, the general public seems to be fairly good as far as raptors go - they do usually seem interested, and want to help.

Yeah... most of the people here are conservative. XD Not a lot of us more liberal-minded people. (I don't really claim any political group entirely, though.)

Yeah... actually back in the day, people used to sit at places like Hawk Mountain in Pennsylvania during migration just to shoot hawks and other birds of prey. Eventually, though, shooting them became illegal, and such sites became places where people came to watch the birds migrate, and keep tallies on what they saw instead. There's one of those places here, though I'm not entirely sure if it was a shooting site at any point, or not. People used to hate birds of prey mainly because they were predators, and because they thought birds of prey - hawks, eagles, falcons, etc. - would kill their livestock. It's true that on occasion, hawks/falcons/eagles will sometimes take chickens, lambs and such - but that's uncommon, and birds of prey do not present that much of a problem. We still to this day - even though it's very illegal - have people shooting at birds of prey - hawks, eagles, even osprey (who eat mainly fish). This year we had several - seven or eight, I think - who came into the center due to gunshot. Two were osprey that did not make it, from the same general area. Someone's out there shooting at them. Not many of them, if any at all this year, survived. It's really sad. And frustrating, because no one knows for certain - or can prove - who did it. So this stuff goes on unpunished.

Granted, gunshot isn't the top reason that birds come in, but there are still a few at least, per year that come in because someone shot at them. Still too many.

Well... granted, most of the people that the raptor center talks to at ed programs and stuff seem to care somewhat. But there's a lot of people who are against the wolves on the whole wolf issue, and really make their decisions based off of how wildlife benefits them, with hunting and so on. And there are still people around who shoot birds of prey (though I have no idea who they are or anything, and haven't dealt with them personally).
