You asked me a long time ago what exercises I do 5x5 for and how long I rest between sets. I said five minutes. Then you said that you aren't training for strength anymore since you started BJJ, and I told you that strength actually plays a large part in an MMA fight, or even in BJJ if you're fighting a much heavier, stronger opponent, I believe. So, I assume you aren't lifting anymore?
I do 5 x 5 on all exercises (except deadlifts; I do 1 x 5 on those) going as heavy as I can and I rest five minutes between each and every set. I do the back squat, bench press, bent over barbell row, overhead press, strict curl, you name it. I mainly focus on compound exercises, though, with only supplemental dumbbell work. Once I am able to get 5 x 5 at my target weight, I add 5 lbs. to it (10 lbs. on deadlift). Or, if I can’t, I deload and drop set 10 lbs. less.

So, you don’t lift anymore? I just wanted to see if you were making progress. You do know that, in MMA, strength is a deciding factor, right? That’s how the wrestler Matt Hughes defeated the BJJ specialist Royce Gracie.
