As soon as I read your username I instantly recognized it from Robert Frost.
We read "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" in my Senior English class and it was my favorite poem.
We had to identify some lines and the author on out final and a girl in my year put "Jack Frost".
Those were the days.

Ah, it's fine. I'm not a super-expert on goldfish (mainly what I've heard from folks at work and on fish keeping forums), but what I've generally heard for goldfish is a gph at least twice the gallons in the tank. So, if you have a 50 gallon tank, get a filter at least 100 gph. That basically means the tank water will be run through 100% twice an hour. There are probably plenty of hang-on external filters that can handle this. The optimal option is probably a canister filter for their sheer filter capabilities, but they're really large, expensive, and cumbersome. Don't jump into that if you're not familiar with them! Just look for a normal power filter or something that'll work.

It's probably worth it to do some online research for yourself, too, to make sute I don't have anything wrong or left anything out. The good thing is that there are lots of people online who know goldfish well past the old "they do great in tiny little dumb bowls" joke. =)

Also, you can ~always~ borrow money from me if you need to make an offer for a rare fish. I wouldn't want you to miss an opportunity to buy a fish just because you're low on funds.
